Tasher
http://ramblinwreck.cstv.com/sports/m-foot.../050106aaa.htmlOkay, I see all the references in posts to Eric Henderson's signing as a UDFA and GT's site is reporting it as well, so how come the Bengals do not have him listed with the UDFAs and none of the sources (Enquirer, Post, Dayton Daily) are discussing it either? What gives here? Is he or isn't he? And even better, is he healthy?
Spor_tees
And is Jimmy Hoffa buried in the concrete pillars of the Cincinnati Bridge?Enquiring minds want to know!
GapControl
ESPN`s Scout`s Inc. has Henderson listed as being signed by the Bengals. He is actually #3 in their top 100 undrafted free agents previously available. Seems he is thought to be healthy and, if so, will make the team in some respect. TJJackson
I put the question to Hobson why DE Eric Henderson is not on the published UDFA list, and got a reply today.--------------------------------------- Original Message ---------------------------- Subject: RE: Contact Hobson from Bengals Web SiteFrom: "Hobson, Geoff" <deleted email address>Date: Mon, May 8, 2006 10:29 amTo: "TJ Jackson" <deleted email address>--------------------------------------------------------------------------HEY TOM - Henderson has yet to return his contract to the club, that's why he wasn't on the list
membengal
You know why he hasn't returned it yet? I hear it's because he's afraid of Rucker...

WretchedOne
Eric is 300x's the player Frostee is.That comment is laughable.(I got the same response from Hobson this morning concerning Eric)
TecmoFever
I bet you Geoff puts this question on his Email of the Week spot because I did the same thing. He's probably tired of writing the same thing all day.I can't think of many teams that would have more of a need than we do, so what's his holdup? Tasher
On the Bengals.com site:Hobson's Choice: Speed on corner, but don't rush May 8, 2006Q: No disrespect to Tory James, but don't you think Johnathan Joseph should start over him immediately? Rookies have to get the experience sometime and he might as well get it right away. This could be our year to make a run for the Super Bowl, but if it is not he will be primed to play championship ball by next year if he gets some experience under his belt ASAP.--Wade, Richmond, VAWADE: First things first. There are concerns Georgia Tech defensive end Eric Henderson isn't on the Bengals’ list of college free agents. It’s because they have yet to receive his signed contact, so he’s not on the official list. But he is expected for rookie camp this weekend. princeton
I'll bite-- what specifically do they mean by a lack of "explosiveness" -- quickness off the snap combined with upper and/or lower body strength? Is the idea that Henderson was able to mask his lack of explosion with good technique, but that this will be unmasked by pro linemen?and if Henderson doesn't have enough explosiveness to be drafted, does that mean that Frostee is supposed to have it? HairOnFire
No, Henderson isn't scared of Frostee. That's just silly....laregly because we all know Frostee had a roster spot locked up on draft day. No, based soley upn the comments made by Henderson's agent I'd say Henderson's agent is targeting the last DE slot on the roster. Kevin Conner said Monday that a major selling point for his client is that he’s the only college free agent defensive end the Bengals signed on a team that isn’t overloaded at the position. Yup, it seems to me that Henderson is a Bengal today largely because the Cincy DE cupboard is almost bare, greasing the skids for him to make this years roster if he can somehow unseat the likes of last years 7th rounder, Jonathan Fanene. jjakq27
Another Waterboy clone!!! Gret move. Why the hate? He was an undrafted free agent. It's not like we wasted a first round pick on this guy.
derekshank
This is the most hype I've ever seen of an undrafted free agent. How many threads can he possibly have dedicated to him? Regardless of his injured past... if he can't be drafted in the first 7 rounds, it is likely that hs is not enough of a pro prospect to unseat anyone currently on the roster. He may just be lucky that we are so shallow at DE that it shouldn't be all that difficult to make the squad. THAT Waterboy would be worth a first round pick. This is the most hype I've ever seen of an undrafted free agent. How many threads can he possibly have dedicated to him? There's reason to be pleased. Granted, the whole anti-Frostee/pro-Eric thing is stupid (and the same vice versa). He wasn't drafted for a reason, but if it were so terrible that he's not worth a damn, then I doubt he'd have been hotly pursued as a free agent after the draft. There are certainly question marks surrounding him, but if he pans out then it could prove to be very much to the Bengals benefit.

HairOnFire
I was just making a simple joke HoF. I know. I got the joke....and then played off of it with my own. That said, most jokes use reality as a jumping off point and I did just that by pointing out that the most attractive thing to Henderson's agent was the lack of competition at the DE spot. In all seriousness, I'm betting Camp Henderson has Jonathan Fanene's name circled as the player most vulnerable to a roster push by Henderson. Yet somehow the louder voices on this board have read the tea leaves and determined that we're looking at a Rucker/Henderson battle. And frankly, I think that sort of thinking is also a joke...made even funnier because they don't seem to know it.((Rimshot))

Simple as that. I have been a Henderson fan since the draft process began, and think he has a shot as well.... but not at Frostee's expense. ArmyBengal
I don't think you can look at this as anything other than a good UDFA signing and think the mini-camps will go a long way to determine where exactly Henderson stands. I remember all the hype surrounding Henderson, but have to think to myself what the hell his issue was that we took 3 WR's before HIM ??? Can it all be to an injury that is stated as "not an issue" any longer ?? Rucker will have no concerns from Henderson being a third rounder. I still like the signing...WHODEY !!! membengal
yeah, we are in the same place Hair. For all of the screaming about how Rucker is the worst NFL prospect since Rudy (from The Movie, not Rudi, the RB), all we know for sure is that ML and his coaches much love him, since he was picked third.I agree with you, Rucker ain't going anywhere (unless it is to OLB in a 3-4?)
