Strengths:

Athletic with good speed and quickness...Has good range and a burst...Does a nice job in the open field and in pursuit...Versatile player with experience at linebacker...Relatively productive and makes a lot of plays behind the line.

Weaknesses:

Undersized and doesn't have the bulk you look for...Needs to hit the weights and get stronger...Might be a bit of a 'tweener...Struggles to locate the ball...Is not stout at the point of attack...Has a inconsistent motor...Plays with poor leverage.

Notes:

Began his career at Colorado St. where he redshirted as a linebacker but never actually played before transferring to USC...Might have to move to outside linebacker...Lacks ideal measurables but he can definitely rush the passer.

I've been pretty happy with this draft so far. Johnathan Joseph posted a 4.31 40 at the combine (second best this year) and has the potential to be a shut down corner. Whitworth seems like he has the size to be the heir-apparent to Willie Anderson. I actually agree with drafting him now so he can get a year under his belt and learn our system before Willie leaves. But who is this Frostee guy? In Marvin We Trust I guess.

maybe we could only afford to scout the East-West Shrine game?

http://www.footballsfuture.com/2006/shrine.html

"On the defensive side of the ball for the West, Southern Cal end Frostee Rucker provided consistent pressure on East quarterbacks whenever he was on the field. Rucker tipped two passes on the day and showed an impressive burst off the snap, and the change of direction ability to get consistent penetration into the backfield. He is still viewed as a tweener, but he looked very good with his hand down off the edge."

Andrew Whitworth was also in the game-- maybe even assigned vs. Rucker

I look for TE Tim Day from the West squad to be pick no. 4

Frostee Freakin the Mother Rucker of all Sackers......I missed it because all I saw was slow, weak and unathletic. I had 25 of the 33 3rd round picks in either the 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounds and of the other 8, 4 were 5ths, 1 7th and 1 1st (Pope). 2 I had undrafted and the Bengals pick one of them.

Frostee Freaking Mother Rucker....Go figure.

There's always tomorrow.

Man this has to be our worst draft ever! How can we pass on Gabe Watson or Ko SImpson!

I want to believe in Marvin we Trust but it is so hard! Rnd 1 was ok but man they are just killing me!

Obviously we aren't the only team passing on Simpson and Watson.

EXACTLY!

I can remember two years ago when everyone was upset that the Bengals passed on Brett Romberg (Miami-FL) in the 2nd, then the 3rd, then the 4th, then the 5th, etc... Let's think about how that turned out:

  • Madieu Williams
  • Landon Johnson
  • Robert Geathers

I can remember one year ago when everyone was upset that the Bengals passed on Ben Wilkerson and Ernest Shazor in the 2nd, then the 3rd, then the 4th, then the 5th, etc... Those guys both wound up going undrafted while the Bengals took guys who made contributions (Tab and Fanene), but because we never disussed their names the picks were an "embarassment".

Get over it. Watson and "Ko" are not on our draft board. It appears they're not on anyone else's either at this point. I can't wait to see Whitworth and Rucker in mini-camp so we can enjoy the players that Marvin chose to put us back in the playoffs in 06.
