AGrizzlyBaer
Several mock drafts have the Bengals taking Ohio State center Nick Mangold in the first round. It begs the question: What are these guys smokin'?Don't get me wrong. Mangold is an outstanding player who will make a great pro. But the Bengals have Ben Wilkerson and Eric Ghiaciuc earmarked for the center job when Rich Braham retires. Mangold would be a perfect fit with the New York Jets. ArmyBengal
I've said all I need to say about Mangold....F*CK NO !!!WHODEY !!!
Whur CHad At?
I would take him, he is solid, but then why did we take Guy CHECK?
bengalboomer7
This wouldn't make me happy, but still happier than if we draft a tight end.
ShulaSteakhouse
Guy-chick is well below average, i.e. not very good. Alexander has yet to develop a mid-round pick into anything worthwhile - it's why they were forced to let Goff go (only to become a starting pro-bowler this year w/SD) and had to sign Williams...and now over-pay him.Wilkerson is an unknown with no NFL experience, coming off an injury. They have no real answer at center.I find it hard to believe Mangold isn't on their board, but maybe they are hopeful for Wilkerson and plan on re-signing Braham for another tour of duty. kentjett
I don't have any clue why you guys are dogging on Ghiaciuc, he looked just as good as Braham when he started his only game against the Jaguars who have the best defensive tackles in the game. The Bengals produced 364 yards against them that game, not to shabby. We are set at the center position.

ArmyBengal
Still clueless as to why all the hating on Guycheck is happening ???Did the guy shoot your dog or something Shula ?? I'm not trying to be funny, I just don't see it and am curious to your opinion on him. The only thing I've seen from the guy has been better than average based on his start against the Jags last year. If we can say "If Marvin likes him, then I'm ok" for one guy, shouldn't it also apply to Guycheck who's never been anything but positive to this point ?? Once again, just curious, please share !!!WHODEY !!!
AMC
Yeah, Clark Judge on CBS Sportsline has the Bengals taking Nick Mangold. I guess he can't know everything about every team. I see Marvin trading down in this draft......Especially with the depth at TE....

cincy9275
mangold is the best center to come out of the college since bently. and would be a very good pick . i believe that if you can get a player that can start from day 1 and be a potential perineal pro-bowler i don't care where he is picked . if you look back on the history of the draft you are lucky if you get 2-3 starter out of one draft. mangold will be starting where ever he goes . and like it or not guys like carpenter and mangold are marvin's type of players
TJJackson
I don't think Mangold is starting in 2005 on our current OL unless there is an injuryThat doesn't mean he coldn't start, it just means we are blessed with a very good set of 5 OL starters right now
ArmyBengal
Well, I swear I will not comment on this one again and will leave it with:If we draft Mangold (who won't start) and fail to address our defensive needs, I will laugh when our defense gets ran the f*ck over again and again or we get absolutely no pass rush. But hey, at least we'll have 4 centers on the team, THANK GOD !!! WHODEY !!!

I have an idea, let's burn another 1st round pick on the OL, because freaking Alexander can't develope a sole. Think of the players we could have landed on the defensive end of the ball, if we didn't have to burn a first day pick, or FA money on every freaking OL position. Please come back Jim McNally. Mike Wilson - round 4Max Montoya - round 7Joe Walter - round 7Brue Reimers - round 8Dave Lapham - round
TJJackson
Guy-chick is well below average, i.e. not very good.Hard to explain his good game against the oustanding DTs of the Jaguars in 2005 if he sucks, as you sayAlexander has yet to develop a mid-round pick into anything worthwhile - it's why they were forced to let Goff go (only to become a starting pro-bowler this year w/SD) and had to sign Williams...and now over-pay him.Wrong in so many waysFirst, some of Goff's development happened here. You can tell me he learned everything in SD, just don't expect me to credit such a statement as anything other than nonsense.Second, ever heard of Kooistra? Third, guess what....we paid Bobbie because he performed well. Not overpaid, paid. And when Kooistra becomes a FA, we'll have to pay him too. If Goff had remained, we would have had to up his pay as well when he achived pro bowl status.freaking Alexander can't develope a sole.Shoes? Alexander works on shoes?Nah. See comments above. You two are spending too much time over at Spain's house
