andybren
Bengals | Hixon scheduled to meet with teamSat, 8 Apr 2006 09:00:18 -0700Gary Estwick, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Akron WR Domenik Hixon is scheduled to meet with officials from the Cincinnati Bengals, according to his agent Eric Metz.In trying to formulate a description of Marvin's typical draft strategy, I've said that he picks "impact" players in the first round (and sometimes the second) without regard for position and the team's relative needs (i.e. Chris Perry). But would he actually go so far as to pick a WR? Aside from franchise QB, it's probably the lowest need for the team.On the other hand, with Henry and Washington being question marks, and with a holdout by Chad always a possibility, maybe another fast WR is exactly what we need.Along with a TE, a DT, a CB, and a S. Whur CHad At?
I wouldn't be suprise if he did, but I hope he doesnt. Henry won't go to jail, he will be back, KWubb will be here, and we just signed Chatman. If we do draft one, I would draft him in a late round. ArmyBengal
Ok, I know I once said, I would be pissed if we drafted a CB in the 1st, but I saw the error of my ways and now embrace the thought. However, a WR in the 1st would make my head spin regardless of the BPA thought. We have WAAAAAY to many other needs to even be thinking WR in the 1st. This WILL piss me off and I will not change my line of thought on this one !!!WHODEY !!!
Whur CHad At?
I think there would be riots downtown again If we drafted a WR. And they would be much much WORSE!!!!!!!!
Stripes
I think K-dub is gone, but other than that we are set at WR. I doubt Marvin will go after one in the first or even on the first day. I could see a special teamer/WR being grabbed in the later rounds though.

If someone like Chad Jackson or Santonio Holmes slipped to 24. Of course I believe that Marvin drafts the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE and if the WR is the best then a WR will be drafted. (I hope not -- but then I didn't want Chris Perry either.)

Kazkal
How does Jeremy Bloom sound???I woulden't mind him in the 3rd with a kdub comp pick or that QB/WR guy but I doubt we take WR if pope is on the board
NJ29
I would probably throw my TV if we did take one.
BlainThePain
I think they would try their best to trade down if a WR was BPA. If Santonio Holmes or Chad Jackson fell to us, I think you would have teams clawing and fighting over our draft spot. I'd predict a trade with Philly for their second, third, and sixth round picks. schweinhart
With Chatman signed and K-Dub not yet offered anywhere else, the Bengals look like they'll roll with their Super Duo, especially if it looks like Dopey can play for most of this year.Holmes or Jackson falling to #24 would give the Bengals great leverage to trade down. schweinhart
Should be added that Hixon has a lot of upside as both a vertical threat WR and returner. He turned in a gutty effort in the Mac championship game to fight off cramps and catch the game winner right at the end. Nice hands and would be a good fit as a deep threat backup with Carson throwing bombs. He's a lot like Todd Watkins, real fast downfield but too thin for now to think he can handle getting jacked when he breaks off inside. If the Bengals go after him, hopefully it will not be until the 5th or 6th round. But his sub 4-4 speed definitely could raise his stock above that if a team thinks they can thicken him up. Bobcat Bengal
I have no problem with them grabbing a WR later on in the draft.Well, I should probably re-phrase that to say, I wouldn't be shocked, angered or suprised.
Bobcat Bengal
Scouting Report: Per ESPN DRAFT GUIDEDomenik Hixon, WR, Akron++(pros) Versatility+Could emerge as a possession reciever and return specialist. Tall with decent bulk and the frame to get bigger. Shows adequate speed for his size. Fluid and smooth, with the ability to get in and out of breaks without losing much in transition. Tough, aggressive and physical. Unafraid to go over the middle to make the tough catch. Hardwoking and extremely durable.-(cons)Lacks ideal quick-twitch athleticism and takes too long to reach full speed. Doesn't show the burst of explosiveness to consistently make big plays after the catch or in the return game. Must improve route-running. He doesn't show great awareness against zones. Hixon also laks ideal strength and will get pushed around by stronger DB's.Sounds to me like he might work alongside Tab Perry in a KR role.
