BengalChamps
Sam, S. Smith, BRob, seem like locks to make the team.I think JT will still make it but i dont think he is a lock.Askew will probably still make it because he is relatively cheap and they have already kept his lazy butt around for 2 years. If they decide to draft a DT, 1 of the above would have to go. Unless the draft choice is more of a project like Askew. Depending on flexible players like Fanene, they probably wont keep more than 4 DT's on the final roster. Stripes
I think we'll still get a DT on the first day, simply because there are so many prospects available at the position.
HoosierCat
I'm not sure how the signing of Sam -- or for that matter, the signing of Dexter Jackson -- will play out on draft day.Conventional wisdom is that the two moves have lessened the likelihood that the Bengals go after DT or safety, at least with an early pick, and that's certainly a logical assumption. A lot of mock drafters around the net seem to be buying that line, if the rise in the number switching to TE Leonard Pope, or their favorite CB (such as Youboty) is any indication. But in the last couple of drafts, the Bengals draft war room has shown a tendency to favor the "draft to a strength" theory. There were certainly more crying needs than RB two years ago, or LB last year, but that didn't prevent them from picking Perry and Pollack. Neither represented an expected pick given their list of weaknesses.I don't think that Adams or Jackson necessarily means you can scratch off a Watson or a Ko Simpson at 24. There's a lot to recommend the idea of adding another playmaker to a secondary already loaded with interception machines...or forcing an opponent to face a near-700 lbs. combined of DT.The bottom linje is that I've no idea which way they will jump. Something along the lines of CB or TE in the first, DT in the second, and TE or DE in the third seems likely to me right now...but what actually happens remains anyone's guess. bengalboomer7
Changes nothing. Both guys, Adams in particular are at the end of their careers, Just another stop gap, hopefully
Wraith
DE in the First (possibly OLB if we are serious about switching to a base 3-4 my guess is Manny Lawson)TE in the second (Marcedes Lewis, Joel Klopfenstein)S in the third (Pollard, Bing, Bullocks, Blue, Slay, Watkins whomever falls) is my guess
ArmyBengal
I'll say it again, that the two signings of Adams and Jackson doesn't stop the drafting of those two positions. Does it stop the drafting of those positions EARLY ?? Maybe, but even that isn't a certainty, especially if a Bunkley were to fall for some crazy reason !!! I still want two of the first three picks to be defensive. Out of the two defensive picks, any combination of a DE, CB, or DT will be OK be me. Safety would be ok, but that position IS pretty deep in my book. TE will be ok in the first "IF" Marvin truly feels he can get the guy that fits the scheme later on, but I'm still against it... Gimme Cromartie...WHODEY !!!
BlainThePain
I don't think it changes anything. Adams is old and only a temporary fix. Everybody knows that Marvin drafts BPA and Sam Adams certainly doesn't take DT off the list of needs.

ArmyBengal
I get your comment there Hair, but I don't think it's sad at all... We will draft not only for talent, but depth, and who better to have school up the youngsters than big Sam ?? I think he will do more than what we paid for, as well as be a great locker room leader for the rooks !!!WHODEY !!!
BengalPappaw
The biggest (no fat joke intended) plus with the signing of Sam Adams is that we might NOT have to worry about drafting Gabe Watson. The Bengals can now focus on the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE -- and there should be lots of choices -- none of which include Watson. I still have faith in the kid, but if anyone's getting cut, he's my bet.*edit* BUT dumping BRob would indeed free up some cap space, so I take that back! ArmyBengal
Ding Ding Ding, we have another good candidate to hit the bricks...**Game show voice**Johnny, tell'em what we've got for them...That's right, for the DT on the way out, we've got a lifetime supply of "thanks for nothing" !!! And don't forget your complimentary gift package of "shut the f*ck up" !!! Thanks for playing... (Not really) WHODEY !!!
Whur CHad At?
I have a feeling we could draft Eric Winston, Marcus McNeil, or Johnathon Scott...I just have that gut feeling.
