If the deal's official what's the next move

I just hope this isn't a Warren Sapp agreement, but if he's signed what next. I think this will put DE as the 1st round choice. It could mean that Pollack get's moved to DE. If they sign Lavar that could mean that as well. The 1st roundpick could still be Gabe Watson. That's alot of weight in the middle which will shut some of us up. I think it's a great signing and a great off-season so far. This opens the possibilities to a lot of scenarios. I thought safety and DT were the #1 priority in the 1st rnd. Now I'm not sure. WHat do you think

This changes nothing. Signing Dexter Jackson and Sam Adams may improve our depth, but neither is a long term solution to the problem.

Our priorities remain Defensive Tackle, Safety, Defensive End and Tight End in the draft. I don't see us picking a cornerback in round one, because frankly, Tory is still servicable, and I haven't given up on Ratliff.

As far as our NEXT move, I think our next move is to laugh at Arrington's attempt to use us as a bargaining chip with other teams and use what we have left to begin negotiations with our offensive linemen. Eric Steinbach and Levi Jones need extensions. Willie needs a new contract.

If Adams is, in fact, signed here are the next moves:

1) Expanded doorways at PBS

2) Re-inforcing all chairs, stools, benches, etc....

3)Willie Anderson opening Fatburger franchises in Georgetown and Cincinnati

Just a little fun :P

If this is true, I love it! We need a guy like Adams in the middle!

Remember the comment about Adams and Arrington remaining on the back burner of a very hot stove? Well I think we're about to see some items begin to boil. Obviously a final decision will have to be made in regards to LaVar Arrington, but more importantly I've always felt that at least one of the offensive lineman has to be locked up before the draft. If that doesn't happen then the Bengals may conclude that their FA plans for the O-line have fallen short and as a result will need to look more closely at drafting an OL very high in the coming draft. The upside of this scenario is the huge amounts money that will be freed up to chase free agents.

I think everyone forgot about getting a back up quarterback.

Nope, I just think people are thinking, what next as far as the draft. A backup QB still to be had, is a foregone conclusion in my mind... Martin, I still imagine will be in stripes before long (like it or not)...

WHODEY !!!

I think we wait until McNair is dropped then we pick him up

I think we'll find out how much Arrington wants to play for Marviin ,if Adams signs, I'm not sure he'll get as much now . Offer Arrimgton a reasonable deal & focus on the O-line. My hope is Arrington does want to play for Marvin & will work with us on a deal not just posturing to up a deal with another team as other Fa's have. Whether we sign him or not get the O-line done & I think it will be decent off season.

I think Mcnair will wind up in Baltimore JMO

The Bengals end up with BOLLER as their long awaited backup, through either a trade or his release?

Holy Hell TDB, are you are some drugs ??? If not, you need to go get on some. Such things should never be thought or spoken of !!! Now quickly, go find a hot woman to punish you for thinking such things !!!

:boff:

Speaking of the whole "if the deal's official" bit, I notice that per da site, His Imminence is still...well...imminent. Any news? Not that getting "Sapped" in this case would bum me out, but it would still suck from a FA credibility standpoint.

Between Pasta Belly and the NFL Network running the signing, it's about as official as official can be, no offense to the team's official website.

Maybe..but all I know is neither Lenny nor the NFL Network sign their names to Bengals paychecks or contracts. And despite Hobson's huffing and puffing, the reported offer isn't exactly a world-beater. Heck, the Bengals gave Robinson -- who has far less of a rep than Sam -- a 3-year deal averaging $2 million a year, and which paid him more than $3 million year one. Now we have Sam getting a deal 3-year deal that pays $3-4 million year one depending on incentives, i.e. not much more than B-Rob. If there's someone out there who wants Adams, it wouldn't be hard to bump the offer. And we all know Sam follows the money.

Some notes from kffl regarding Sam, Joey & LaVar...

Bengals | S. Adams to sign Sunday?Sat, 1 Apr 2006 06:33:07 -0800

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports agent Angelo Wright said free agent DT Sam Adams (Bills) will fly to Cincinnati Sunday, April 2, and sign a three-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. Adams is expected to participate in the team's offseason strength and conditioning program, which will begin Monday, April 3. "He'll be there Monday through Thursday and go back home," Wright said.

Bengals | Team expected to make a contract offer to Harrington?Fri, 31 Mar 2006 18:48:49 -0800

Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports agent David Dunn has been told the Cincinnati Bengals are preparing a contract offer for his client, Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington. However, some problems remain. Harrington is looking for a deal no longer than two years so he can have enough time to rehabilitate his career as a backup before seeking a starting job somewhere, and he is seeking between $2.5 million and $3 million per season to do it. The Bengals have their full complement of draft picks and could make a trade with Detroit but might not be willing to pay Harrington's price. While they ponder their decision, other teams like the Kansas City Chiefs could move in and try to nab Harrington.

Dolphins | Team expected to make a contract offer to Harrington?Fri, 31 Mar 2006 18:43:57 -0800

However, some problems remain. Harrington is looking for a deal no longer than two years so he can have enough time to rehabilitate his career as a backup before seeking a starting job somewhere, and he is seeking between $2.5 million and $3 million per season to do it. The Dolphins' salary structure does not typically pay a backup quarterback more than $2 million. Although the Dolphins might be willing to trade one of their three seventh-round picks for Harrington, they cannot meet the higher demands the Lions are likely to make. The Lions want no lower than a sixth-round selection for Harrington and are asking higher than that, according to an NFL source. Miami does not have a fifth- or sixth-round pick this year.

Bengals | Team still in the mix for Arrington?Fri, 31 Mar 2006 21:49:15 -0800

Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports the Cincinnati Bengals are one of four teams that remain interested in free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins). He likely will end up with the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars or Bengals, agent Carl Poston said. A deal could be a while, or it could come soon. "That's just the way this business goes," Poston said. "You never know when something will get done."
