ckj414
Great signing guys, if its for real. Got to feel good that the Bengals have signed vets to fill their biggest weaknesses, I know it hasn't always been that way. Arrington and the 3-4? Sounds good to me, and even better still if Gabe Watson is the pick on draft day.
ArmyBengal
Marvin has already stated just "IF" we happen to get Arrington doesn't mean we will be going to a 3-4. It allows us more flexibility, but it would still not be the base, unless we net another fatass to rotate the NT position... On that note, I'm still getting better with the thought of Arrington.WHODEY !!!

ArmyBengal
Guess again blunt-boy... I've always wanted the big heavy in the middle. I don't think there has been anyone, except Billy who has been more vocal on this board about getting a big dude for the middle, so check yourself... Say what you will---> 4-3 is our base. How about a link to the article, because I don't see it !!!WHODEY !!!

HoosierCat
I still don't see Sam Adams as the answer to our defensive line woes. And IMHO you'd be right. At best, Adams is another in a long, long, long string of defensive line stopgaps (they go from Robinson to Thornton to Williams to Gibson and on and on). Signing aging DTs whose best seasons are behind them is a Bengals specialty. That isn't to say that Sam is doomed to failure, but prior experience says we ought not to get our hopes up. Certainly, if getting Sam means the Bengals again ignore DT on day 1, then this signing becomes an even bigger question mark.I would rather they took this money, added it to whatever they felt was "fair" for LaVar and thrown the whole pot at him. Or thrown it at Levi or Steinbach. Hopefully, Sam proves me wrong, but I ain't holding my breath.
Stripes
Will we can see your words on the other post. Would you like TDB to merge them? Chump!Wait....what am I doing? That isn't to say that Sam is doomed to failure, but prior experience says we ought not to get our hopes up. Certainly, if getting Sam means the Bengals again ignore DT on day 1, then this signing becomes an even bigger question mark. That's my biggest concern. I agree with yourself and TNBT that Adams won't fix everything. There are a ton of worthy DTs available in this draft on the first day, and I will be p***ed if one of them isn't a Bengal by May. The_Next_Big_Thing
Check out bengals homesite idiot there is a nice article on how we are going the 3-4 chump, eat those words !Dude, the hash you have been smoking must have forced you to go to some high school team called the Bengals home site, because there is no article saying we are going to a 3-4 on it. There is still some talk about using it some, but nothing that says we are going to a 3-4.PUT DOWN THE PIPE!!!!!

Mulling means "thinking about". In the same sense that I can "think about" getting up close and personal with Danica Patrick all I want, only it ain't gonna happen. ArmyBengal
Will we can see your words on the other post. Would you like TDB to merge them? Chump! To start with, the other post was started about Grady and Arrington. I said two old f*ckers, not thinking Arrington was so young. Now, if you want to interpret that to include Adams to prove your point, then be my guest. Me making a mistake about a players age is not an indication of me not wanting a big heavy in the middle of the line. Please feel free to take your own advice and re-read that post...Oh yeah, we're all still waiting for that link that says we are switching to the 3-4....And I'm the chump ???? Seriously dude, stop with the drugs already !!!WHODEY !!!

Hey I just want my props, When Kevin Greeene spent time as a coach eher I saw it coming as well as others, I might aid!I believe you said Kevin Greene was going to SIGN here, not spend a couple days giving pointers to players.... But then again, you probably were and are so high you don't realize the difference between giving a few pointers for a couple days and being a coach. andybren
From .com.....He did acknowledge the Bengals have interest in Pro Bowl linebacker LaVar Arrington, that he’s mulling a move to a 3-4 base defense, and that the club plans to add a defensive tackle in the draft or “later on.”But Lewis also said he’s content with the size and talent of his current tackles and the way the team has approached free agency this offseason. One of those decisions is sticking with his two fairly light defensive tackles, 290-pounders John Thornton and Bryan Robinson. The Bengals are looking at veteran loads Sam Adams and Grady Jackson in free agency, but Lewis reiterated (for the how many-th time?) he’s not looking for bulk in pointing out that the NFL’s three smallest defenses (Tampa Bay, Chicago and Indianapolis) finished in the top 11.“I’m very comfortable with our guys. They do the things we ask them to do,” Lewis said of his tackles. “They work hard, they practice every day, they show up on Sunday and play.”The signing of Arrington wouldn’t mean the Bengals would switch to a 3-4, but Lewis admitted again that he hasn’t decided if the Bengals are going to switch out of their base 4-3 in an effort to revive the league’s 28th-ranked unit. But he did say that it has to be one or the other. He also objected to the theory that the Bengals don’t have 3-4 personnel because of their smallish linebackers and tackles. For instance, he said people have to realize that 230-pound second-year middle linebacker Odell Thurman is similar to the Steelers’ 243-pound James Farrior and the Ravens’ 255-pound Ray Lewis when they came out of the draft.“It’s maturity and time,” he saidEdited to add emphasis. For the stoned amongst us.
TJJackson
For those keeping score at home, those quotes fall well short of ML saying "we are going to a base 3-4"
Whur CHad At?
Yes he is thinking about it...maybe because LaVar wants to play in a 3-4 scheme? I doubt we will this year, but possibly we could next year.
