walshfan
Chris Perry fill the need as a versatile back..The team needs another power runner imo.. thats why they kept Quincy Wilson wasnt it??
HoosierCat
Some other 'fins/Bengals-related notes...Dolphins | Team makes no offer to HarringtonThu, 30 Mar 2006 06:23:03 -0800Armando Salguero and Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, report Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington met with Miami Dolphins officials Wednesday, March 29, but he left without a contract offer. It is uncertain if they will part with the draft pick necessary to pry the quarterback from the Lions. ''I enjoyed the visit, and I like the Dolphins coaches,'' Harrington said before leaving. Harrington said he no other trips planned other than Miami and Cincinnati. Dolphins | S. Adams talking to two teams; Miami not one of themThu, 30 Mar 2006 06:21:23 -0800Greg A. Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports free agent DT Sam Adams (Bills) is talking with two teams, but the Miami Dolphins are not one of them. redsbengalsbucks
Watson is capable of backing up both Rudi and Perry. That is why he is important as a backup as well as ST.
kingwilly
Watson is a very good back-up...but would not be hard to replace should Quincy not be the best option.
redsbengalsbucks
He was the leading in ST tackles when he went down and is capable of doing Perry's job as well as Rudi's. IMO he would not be that easy to replace.
AMC
Given Perry's history and Watson's ability on STs I would be inclined to keep him around if at all possible...Wish Quincy would get a shot, but....

IMO he would not be that easy to replace. There's no way in hell Watson carries the ball 20+ times a game. He's barely capable of running the ball 20+ times a YEAR.He had all of ONE, that's right, ONE tackle before he went down. Was it the first tackle of the year on special teams? Come on dude. redsbengalsbucks
Watson has in the past, for the Redskins, proven that he can handle the load of everyday RB.Wow I thought that he was leading in ST tackles when he went down, my bad. If only I knew every stat of every player than I would be sombody.

If only I knew every stat of every player than I would be sombody.Do some research then. It's not that hard, NFL.com makes it even simpler than Bengals.com.As for proving he could handle an everyday load while with the Redskins you really should, once again, do some research. Watson has never proven he can handle even half the load Rudi carries. The most carries he ever had in a season, and this was only once, was 116 carries for 534 yards. He has carried the ball more than 20 times only twice in his entire career.
TJJackson
All I need to know about Kenny Watson to know we should resign him is the following1) 6 yards per carry when spelling Rudi.2) has 100 yard games to his credit (albeit with the Redskins)3) great catching the ball out of the backfield4) plays special teams, including kick return abilities (Tab needs a backup, just like anyone)5) is not expensive
The_Next_Big_Thing
TJ, I don't disagree that he's worth signing if #5 is true, and if ...6) He will be healthy.

A 25k to 50k signing bonus sholdn't be out of the question for an excellent backup and role player like him.and yes, he can back up both Rudi Johnson AND Two-Carry Perry. (Kenny Watson only has 1 TD in his entire career!)
TJJackson
{{Not going to discuss Perry further in this Watson thread except for the following}}I have said it before, and I will say it again (albeit elsewhere): Perry will always be Two Carry Perry to me. We should have drafted another player (a defensive player, a TE, or a C) at that time.
Stripes
I've always liked Watson. I think he'd make a better third stringer than Wilson simply because he has something to offer in the mold of both Rudi and Perry. Should Perry go down, we have more than a worthy replacement, and should Rudi go down, we give the ball to Perry and let Watson spell him. HairOnFire
I'm guessing talk of interest in Kenny Watson was just leverage, as ESPN just reported the Dolphins signed Sammy Morris to a new contract.
