Poll #99

Stop the Score at all costs?

33 members have voted

  1. 1. If a player is laying down on the field, and has already scored two touchdowns, and the only way you can stop him from scoring again today is to stomp on his throat or knee, do you severly injure him and take the penalty or let him continue to score?

    • Whether it's a horsecollar tackle or a low hit to the knees, trying to injure someone is not the right way to win.

These polls are stupid. These rules are being made to keep people from being seriously injured. It's just a freaking game. If you have to hurt someone by breaking the rules to win, you don't deserve the win.

To suggest that it's better to hit the QB in the knees than to let him throw a touchdown pass, because you can't possibly do better is dumb, immoral, and makes you no better than Kimo VonKneecappen and the Steelers fans who cheered Carson's injury on.

To suggest that it's ok to horsecollar tackle because you are too incompetant to actually tackle a guy is no better.

I agree 100%! If we have to lose because we suck, then we have to lose. Nut up and make sure it doesn't happen again, don't cheat to win.

The point IS, the new rules wont protect anyone. Guys the play the game full speed. Making certain types of tackles illegal wont stop anyone from doing them. People horse collar tackled in every game last year. Not on purpose, but because if the only thing you can get ahold of is a shoulderpad you grab it.

If you are rushing the QB and get knocked down, you still try and make the tackle. I dont remember anyone here calling Thurman dirty when he was blocked and fell into Roethlisbergers knees. Dude was trying to make a play, and if you dont go low on purpose it shouldnt be a penalty.

If you dont like injuries stick to chess, knitting sweaters, or baking a pie for your man!

If you can't win fair, then don't play at all. In saying that, injuries are a part of the game. They happen all over the league. If it is a illegal hit, then the punishment should equal the injury on said player. Not practical, but a thought.
