bengalskyspy
Frankly I would go with Jamie Martin. So, none of the above/ don't do it is my choice.
GROIIIDayton
none of those players are going anywhere. NFL trades are almost always for draft picks. I say the bengals won't give up more than our first seventh round pick. Although I do like the idea of him over jamie martin. Joey has something to prove and believes he is good, and with a few good games before Palmer gets back he could show some stuff and end up getting us a higher draft pick for him next year. Martin knows he is at best average
AGrizzlyBaer
yeah it would be a sixth or seventh rounder

DC_Bengals_Fan
6th or 7th, OK, maybe. What about $$$, though - I assume Detroit would have to eat some serious money, or something, since he's still making 1st rounder cash?
TJJackson
our second 7th rounder would be about right, and then only if he released us from the roster bonus still due him sometime this summer (mid june? I think?)If no release, no tradeAlso, I don't think we can trade Kelly Washington as he is not under contract. They can have Inactive Askew :-)
Spain
7th rounder nad we are getting a steal. Reminds me of mcown in the way he had some bad o ine play. Vets cant take that can kinda disengration. Kitna will be out of the leauge after this year for going there.

But word is he also whines like a little ***** and couldn't handle the pressure of the NFL. Add to that he was a "system" guy in college and I don't know how much promise he actually has. I woudldn't give much for him.
Spor_tees
If we were to sign Arrington, and Harrington renogotiated his contract to a one year deal, I could see us trading Brian Simons to them. Arrington would take Simmons place, and trading simmons would free up some cap space for both Harrington and some of Arrington's salary. I like Brian Simmons, don't get me wrong, but we are LB deep, especially if we get Arrington, and I want to see a back up QB that is going to have us above .500 until Carson comes back. ArmyBengal
These trades involve picks not usually players. Anyway, I'll ask again...Why do we give up a draft pick for a player of question, that no one knows how many games (if any) he'll play in, only to give him his release the following year ?? WHY ?? If giving up picks and money, wouldn't (or shouldn't) we be looking at more than a one year fix ?? This whole idea with Harrington is one of the most stupid things considered.WHODEY !!! Wraith
i'll Trade Brian Thornton for Joey Harrington anyday, after all he's never played football (so far as I know) and his NBA prospects don't seem to be realistic coming after his injury, he is a senior, though I hear he is thinking of enrolling for his MBA, perhaps he could be valuable in the front office doing cap evaluations.JOHN Thornton on the other hand.... HairOnFire
Players or Player To TradeK Washington [ 4 ] [13.79%] Chris Henry [ 1 ] [3.45%] Chris Perry [ 1 ] [3.45%] Rudi Johnson [ 0 ] [0.00%] Brian Simmons [ 4 ] [13.79%] Brian Thornton [ 4 ] [13.79%] Other Player (please explain) [ 2 ] [6.90%] Don't Do The Trade [ 13 ] [44.83%] Hmmmm, let's review. Washington can't be traded since he isn't under contract. Henry probably couldn't be traded until his legal situation is settled, and if it's settled then it's unlikely Marvin would part with him. Chris Perry should be traded, but why would the Lions want him? Regardless, I'm guessing that this single vote was cast tounge-firmly-in-cheekly by a smart assed bastidge. Moving on, nobody things trading Rudi is a good idea. Finally, parting with Simmons or Thornton is the most popular option by far, but the Lions would probably prefer a low round pick to adding a bloated salary. Don't do the trade seems to be the most popular option by far.
walshfan
a trade for Joey would involve a draft pick imo... Lions will want a third ..Bengals will offer a fourth or fifith..maybe settle on a fourth.
scott91575
a trade for Joey would involve a draft pick imo... Lions will want a third ..Bengals will offer a fourth or fifith..maybe settle on a fourth.Lions will settle for whatever they can get. It all depends on Joey restructuring his contract. The Lions will not eat any of his money...this is football, not baseball. Joey is about an $8.5 million cap hit with his current contract. He is due a $4 million roster bonus and his salary is about $4.5 million. NO ONE will pay that for him.As of right now, Joey will not redo his contract. That could change, but I doubt he agrees to redo his contract with one team when he will be cut before the roster bonus in June and will have teams fight over him. No trade needed unless Joey's agent presses him that by June all the teams will have met their QB needs and he will be screwed on the open market. Even then no way the Bengals give up a 3rd rounder, which the Chiefs have been reported to offer if Joey re does his contract. The only way the Bengals pick up Harrington is if they wait until he is cut...which is probably the discussion the Bengals are having with him. Promise him more $ than the Chiefs want to restructure his contract to, and there will be no draft picks and Joey will wait to be cut. bengalindian
I thought Harrington had been released on March 20th?No. I think they confused a lot of us fans by basically saying he was gone. He's due a roster bonus on June 15th I believe, and they won't cut him until the last second in order to get as much as they can out of him. Basically, any team that wants him in their plans for this upcoming season will be forced to trade. According to ESPN Insider, the Lions are looking for a late draft pick, so hopefully the Bengals can dish a 5+ round pick for Harrington. Indeed, and that's why we probably don't have a legitimate shot at Harrington. It looks like the Chiefs will be offering up at least a mid round pick for Harrington, and I highly doubt the Bengals would try to match that. princeton
seems like a good situation to offer a conditional 2007 pick based on Harrington's playing time/effectiveness in 2006. If he plays a lot and plays well, then the Bengals won't have to regret offering a (potentially) higher pick.
