Has anyone read this book on Cleveland yet?

Recommended Posts

What about the old browns failures in Cleveland?

The drive, The fumble, The horrible colors.

Stripes, that's all I have to say.

Anyways, no, I haven't read the book, but I have heard much about it and have always wanted to read it.

Was that really necessary?

C'mon Who, the best you can come up with is "stripes" ??

At least Bengal Tigers have "stripes", hence the symbolism...

The symbolism behind the Browns is what ?? Oh yeah... A pile a crap...

Anyway, something about a book in reference Cleveland....

WHODEY !!!

Well, I was going to leave out the entire part of Bengals history that includes even more busted draft picks then the Browns, and a 14 year playoff drought, but I was in a good mood today. :lmao:

Of course we do... If you were directing this at me, the symbolism of their uniforms is what I was referring to. I was not speaking about their name by any stretch. Personally, I find it quite humorous their team is named after the guy who founded the Bengals. Quite humorous indeed !!!

WHODEY !!!

Did I mention your uniforms, while most in Cleveland find the retro look to be cool, have NO symbolism at all ?? NONE.

It is not a "retro look". It is only a retro look if it evolved into something else and then changed back. Since it never changed it is not retro. If your team went back to it's old uniforms it would be retro. But for the Browns it is not retro, it is still the original.

We have what no other team in the NFL can ever have, a unique originality.

What do you have?

Graphics on your helmets? So does everyone else.

A new color scheme for your uniforms? Every team in the NFL except for the Browns have changed their uniform schemes. Some several times.

You see, once you start changing it in the name of "modernizing" your look, you doom yourselves to forever change once they have again gone out of style. Do you think your children's pajama style is going to be hip forever? Ha! When the next wave of "modern" design evolves, you'll have to evolve with it or you'll look dated. Silly in fact.

The Browns, having never changed, never have too. That is what is original. We don't need "Symbolism". We have all the symbolism we need in the fact that we are the only original team left in the NFL. Original helmets, original uniforms. No one else can ever have that. The only way would be for them to go "retro".

The Browns helmet and uniform is the most unique and original in the NFL and no one can match it's uniqueness without copying. Ever.

Symbolism indeed.

I can go with the whole originality and tradition thing, but your uniforms are by no means the most unique. Hell, give that title to the team whose fans you're arguing with. :bengal:

Hence why this conversation with a Browns fan is useless, you just summed up everything I was trying to say about the Browns uniforms and the way Clevelanders view them. The whole "We've never changed and don't have to" and "We are original and unique" and my personal favorite, "We don't need symbolism"... This is the kind of stuff said by children who can't get what they want.

Little Bobby Browns Fan: "Mommy, can I have some candy?"

Bobby's Mom: "No, you little bastard!"

Little Bobby Browns Fan: "I don't like candy anyway!"

Same concept different application !!!

WHODEY !!!

DON'T YOU SEE?

IT'S ALL ABOUT ECONOMICS. MOST OF THEIR FANS ARE STILL WEARING THEIR OLD KOSAR JERSEYS. (BERNIE ROCKS BTW! )

THEY DO HAVE SYMBOLISM IN THEIR UNIFORMS...........BROWN STRIPES. CHECK YOUR TIGHTY WHITIES BOYS AND YOU'LL KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

AS FOR UNIQUE AND UNCHANGED..................SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA CHANGE IT UP A LITTLE OR YOU'LL KEEP SWIRLING DOWN THE TOILET. LOOK WHAT THE UNIFORM CHANGE DID FOR THE BENGALS...................AFCN CHAMPS :bengal: *LEGITIMATELY

My favorite part of the new Browns is what happened to the owner of the old Browns. Because if it wasn't for him, there wouldn't have been a new Browns.

Art Moddell was so cash strapped when Cleveland didn't make a stadium deal with him, that he bailed out and went to Baltimore after 1995. But he was such a great businessman that he has since sold all interest in the Ravens because he was broke. So he should have sold the Browns to someone in Cleveland and left the franchise alone. And in the end, they built a new stadium anyway. Go figure.

Nice job Al and Cleveland.
