schroomytunes Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 since the lions have signed Mccown and kitna, they have no need for Harrington. Why dont we offer them our 6th round pick for him, he's young and would be a capable backup behind palmer. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Trading for Harrington, regardless of whether it's a good idea or not, presents some financial issues, like that his salary this year is $4.45 million, plus he's due a $4 million June roster bonus. No one is going to trade for him with an $8.45 million price tag. He'll have to agree to redo his deal, giving him effective veto power over any trade -- and I doubt he will be anxious to drop down to, say, $1 million in salary and sit behind Palmer. Quote

andybren Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 You don't trade for guys that are going to get cut anyway. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Even if he is released, it still doesn't matter because HE SUCKS and I wouldn't want him on the team anyway...WHODEY !!! Quote
kingwilly Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Harrington is not good enough to run even a pared down version of our offense.PASS...WIth Brooks's agent saying this isn't a good fit...I guess Greise would be my next choice...alas, Chicago will probably grab him. Quote
BengalChamps Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 A big NO to Harrington. He's going to be cut anyway. Plus we dont want to pick up his salary. Even at a reduced price tag, I dont think we want him. He is a TERRIBLE decision maker. Does have a big arm though. Quote
walshfan Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 I dont think he's that bad.. fresh start may do him good..detroit fans didnt think he deserved all the criticism he received. Quote
massie0929 Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Harrington is delusional enough to think he could be a asset to someones football team. He will be looking to start somewhere or at least compete for the job, he won't want to sit behid Carson. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Harrington is at least as good as Couch who some folks on this board wanted to have us sign. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 he would be a capable backup behind palmer.Dude. If he was a "capable" NFL QB in any way, shape or form, the Detroit Lions wouldn't have had to sign up either Jon or Josh out of the free agent market now would they? In short, as a pro quarterback, Joey Harrington sucks giant sweaty donkey balls. And as long as we're covering this topic of QB's that manually apply a high negative pressure on pairs of salty, dampened, spherical reproductive organs of a domesticated beast of burden, let's talk about what QB's the Bengals currently have available to them until Palmer returns.Craig Krenzel. In short, this guy scares me. I could give a s**t he played for Ohio State. Name ONE great player the Bengals got out of that hole. And I must not be the only one who feels some fear about relying on his abilities. Otherwise we wouldn't be talking about this next guy...Ol' Dougie Johnson. Not too enthused about him either, but at this moment he appears to be the man holding down the proverbial fort until Carson is back. If you had no reason to drink to excess before, you have TWO of them now! Quote
Mckracken Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 We need a backup capable of throwing the deep ball to Chad, and throwing the slant routes to chatman and housh. Martin,Harrington,Maddox all seeem the same to me.THEY STINK!!! the problem is getting a backup to come here for 1 million a year and possibly not play a snap! is there a rookie we could draft in the late rounds with a good arm we could steal!! The thought of starting a rookie for the first two weeks scares me but so does the thought of crenzel or johnson starting!!! Quote
HoTbOy Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 If Harrington couldn't get the ball to Detroit's slow WR's, why on earth would we want him...I think Harrington is another RLeaf...I used to think it was coaching, but if Martz don't want you, you suck... Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Martin doesn't suck. Maybe not, but Harrington does. Oh yeah, so does Maddox. Lastly, even though he's not part of this discussion, no conversation about QBs sucking would be complete unless I reiterate the fact that Kyle Boller still SUCKS !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
bengalsfansince68 Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 I dont think he's that bad.. fresh start may do him good..detroit fans didnt think he deserved all the criticism he received.I went on a Lions message board and warned them about Kitna and believe me they are as down on Joey as I am on Kitna. And that is a lot Quote
Who? Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Doug Johnson is horrible, I just want you all to know that. Quote

kingwilly Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Winslow is a big, stupid, immature, gimpy punk...who once healthy will showcase the overrated (lack of) talent he is. Quote

Stripes Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Sorry folks, but I think Winslow will be very good in Cleveland whenever he stops being an idiot (probably this year). As for Harrington, no thanks. I always thought he was put into a terrible situation in Detroit and could succeed elsewhere, but I'd still rather have Griese. Quote

And that is a lotIm not disputing your claim that the fans you talked with were down on Harrington.. Im just saying I do allot of business in Michigan and the folks Ive talked with about his play for the Lions said they thought a fresh start might be what he needs to be successful..... Quote
cincy9275 Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 hate on krenzel all you guys want . he can play there are only 2 qb's that are still f/a's that i would rather have play than him griese and martin if we can't land one of them then i would rather have krenzel of the likes of maddox fiedler . and to call osu a whole is just dumb that whole produced the 2 single greatest coaches to ever coach on both level of football . PAUL BROWN AND WOODY HAYES . Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Doug Johnson is horrible, I just want you all to know that.We sorta figured that all along Who. That's why I classified him as a "QB that manually apply a high negative pressure on pairs of salty, dampened, spherical reproductive organs of a domesticated beast of burden!" Quote
