AMC
Kitna gets a back-up???Other way around....McCown has one built in....Curious note....McCown got 2 years, Kitna 4....Interesting given their respective ages....I'm sure it's because of cap considerations.... There may be a QB comp. but Kitna will win because he is a better QB at this stage...God only knows what the Lions will do, they're idiots. But they now have 3 "starting" QBs. The coach is on record as saying he's going to give the first look to Harrington, if I'm not mistaken. So I'd say they're blowing smoke up somebody's ass. I can't see any of the 3 being happy as the emergency QB.I also question the assertion that Kitna's the better QB right now. I believe his arm is dead. We'll see what happens, but I have a feeling it's going to be one ugly season in Detroit, and that Kitna will regret this very soon.
BTG
So Kitna could start according to the prophecy.Source: KFFLTom Kowalski, of mLive.com, reports Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington has told the Lions' front office and coaching staff that he does not want to play in Detroit. The Lions have been in talks with free agent QB Josh McCown (Cardinals), which could allow the team to move Harrington. Thoughts? He'd be a good backup for Carson if he'd sign for the right money. The only question is, would he be bad or good? How about a Fresca, hmmm?

I feel bad for the kid, but them's the facts.
Stripes
I think McCown is a large upgrade over Kitna and Harrington... He has the tools to be a good player, but he's going to need to join a team with a consistent and talented offense to support him. Too late now. Stripes
I feel sorry for Lions fans... They are forced to watch Millen drive their team further into the ground year after year. I think Joey could be an alright backup for the right money, but we can do better.

I think Joey could be an alright backup for the right money, but we can do better.Yup. I think he could be a good backup *eventually*, but what he needs now is a shrink. I'm pretty sure Matt Millen and Isiah Thomas are playing some kind of sick joke, it's hard to be that legitimately stupid.
TJJackson
*shrug* he's worth a look as the player I will from hereafter refer to as "the caretaker QB"This is another QB who could legitimize himself (and earn Brees type money in 2007) if he performs well in limited action in the mighty Bengals O in 2006.One of the agents quoted by Hobson today referred to a "one year showcase". He is describing with those three words the exact scenario I have been describing for the last few days, and am describing above..... AMC
I think Matt Millen's biggest problem is he may lie to people. Could it be he misled Kitna? Lied to Harrington? Marinelli promised him he would get a fair shot. Lied to McCown? I think he promised three QBs the starting job at three different times. Hmmmm....How Millen keeps his job I don't know. Terrible eye for talent. Terrible management and people skills. Dang...
ArmyBengal
LMAO at the Lions !!! Holy Hell this is some of the funniest sh*t I've seen in a long time !!! WHODEY !!!
ArmyBengal
Kitna can't throw the long ball and the Lions receivers aren't worth the 1st round status they were drafted in. This is going to be Kitna's worst nightmare come true. I wish him the best, but can't see anything more than going out of the league on a bad note !!!WHODEY !!! bb.gun77
of course harrington is out but the lions have 4qb stiffs at the moment! the only thing that scares me is if we end up w/ piano boy when he gets dumped. kitna lacks the arm strength and will be the #2 in detroit. i'm laughing my nice, tight, firm buttocks off! Bengalbob
Couldn't this post have been included in the other McCown thread, or at least in one of the other 25 QB threads?

They've got 3 starting QBs and 3 #1 receivers. Sounds like a good ratio to me, what's the problem?
BengalszoneBilly
It'll be interesting to see just which "starting" QB actually gets the nod on opening day. I feel like its McCown, but with the Lions, who the hell knows!
schweinhart
GD I'd say Dan Orlovsky has got more potential than the Lions 3 Stooges at QB -- Josh, Joey and Jonny.I'd like to see the Lions keep Joey and cut Orlovsky so the Bengals could sign him. The Big Orv would be better than Krenzel and Doug Johnson, eh? Course with Brian Griese not really coming and Patrick Ramsey still most likely traded to somebody else, the Bengals can keep waiting and waiting. Sooner or later the Big Orv will just fall right to them. Nothing like hurrying up and waiting for the Bengals to sign a backup QB. Got to be real careful about it, wait for just the right moment and then yawn.
