Anyone remember the conversations about giving Carson as many weapons as possible ?? Why in the hell would we get rid of a back who can change the pace of the game, give Rudi a break, and catch out of the backfield for some unknown 4th round pick ?? This is just a dumb thread. Not directed at the person, but this is just not a sound thought for the Bengals to entertain whatsoever.

While we are at it, since TJ is the #2, lets trade him for a 4th rounder as well, because we can always find another person to come catch the ball.

Regardless of how you feel about Rudi, Perry is another weapon out of the backfield and is therefore a huge asset to Carson. Think about it people... <_<

WHODEY !!!

the thought of trading chris perry is so outrageous, there are not wods to even describe it....i cant believe it is even being discussed. chris perry is the future at running back and if any running back will go, it would be Rudi. I like Rudi just as much as the next guy but his time is here wont be much longer. Perry has the ability to break tackles and go for a long breakout run. If any of remember his college career you know that he can run between the tackles. you all should be ashamed of yourselves for even thinking about trading chris perry.....ludacris <_<

When Perry went down late in the season the team started to stumble...and the O was not near as dangerous...

Go back and read again, I didn't say trade him for a fourth round pick, I said trade him AND a fourth rounder for the Colts FIRST round pick. <_<

So you don't think the Offense stumbling towards the end of the year had anything to do with Marvin taking everything conservative and sitting out starters for the play-offs? Or the fact Rudi was wearing down some from carrying a heavy load while playing hurt? Mind you, he played hurt unlike Perry. <_<

Don't worry, I just wanted to get into the running for the dumbest topic of the month award.

Why does everyone want to trade everything?

Probably because the only football games happening right now are in Europe, and there isn't a whole lot else football related to talk about right now.

But to answer your question, I'd trade him for Troy Polamalu. Then I'd start Polamalu at S *and* WR, since he seems to be rather good at catching passes from Bengal QBs.

Perry hasn't done anything to demonstrate that he's a 3 down back. I don't see him ever being more than a poor man's Warrick Dunn.

Watch more game footage. There have been plenty of times where Rudi has sat down for 3+ downs in a row while Rudi rests.

Perry is a 3 down back. Rudi is a 2 down back.

You guys blow rudi up to be way more than he is. Hes just a guy who does his job. He does nothing spectacular.

Wow.

Rudi Johnson broke the franchise record for most rushing yards in a season, then broke his own record the next season. He doesn't fumble the ball (only FIVE in 930 carries). He doesn't complain when he doesn't score touchdowns. He plays hard every game. He stays healthy without shying away from contact. And on top of all that, he's only 26 years old. What more could you possibly ask for? Do you want him to fly? Maybe stop a bullet or two?

Seriously, how many backs in the NFL are better than Rudi right now? Two? Three, maybe? Rudi has put together back to back 1450 yard seasons. How many other running backs in the league can make that claim? So what's the problem here? Is it the spelling of his name? If he spelled it with a "Y" would you be more inclined to give the man his due?

I don't get it.

Before Ruben Droughns did it this year, how many years did it take for the Clowns to get a 1,000 yard rusher (20?, ibelieve 1985 was the year with Mack and Byner not sure though). 15 of the 32 teams last year did not have a 1,000 yard back. As for "its all the scheme" how did Ruben Droughns and Clinton Portis do last year on teams with BAD O-Lines...Both were over 1200 yards even though opposing defenses knew they were the prime offensive weapon on both teams (Moss is good but it takes two players to complete a pass), maybe Denver has good running backs year after year because they are excellent at evaluating Running Back talent and excellent at coaching it. Dallas, Philadelphia, Jacksonville, and New England all did not have a 1,000 yard back despite having good O-Lines (some of that was due to injury but being durable is part of the equation).

On to coaching, maybe our running backs are so good because Jim Anderson is a GREAT running backs coach, we did, after all, get Harold Green a 1,000 yard season.
