The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 WOO HOO! Another QB to throw balls around in camp while Carson is resting who won't make the cut anyway.... Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 What a waste !!! Isn't Bramlett still out there ?? He could come back !!!WHODEY !!! Quote

turningpoint Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 At least we got DEXTER JACKSON! Quote
dgrace4whodey Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Here is the thing with Redman, he came to Pro Day here at UL last week to only volunteer his time to throw to the WR's being looked at. Marvin was there initially to see the WR's, CB's, SS, etc, etc. but with Chris's recent arm surgery and rehab, he ended up giving the "WOW" factor to the scouts and Marvin on that day. It must be enough of a "Wow" to bring him in and see what he can do more than just 1 workout. I bet he beats out Krenzel and Johnson, we'll see if he is #2 quality and worth starting 2-4 games if Palmer needs more time to rest. Quote
Stripes Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Another bad #7 for the Ravens? Well we could make a star out of him with our talent! Or we coud just work him out and still have next to no chance of seeing him ever take the field as a Bengal. Quote
HairOnFire Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 What's the difference between Kitna and Redman? Neither can get the job done, right? Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Redman costs less. Much less. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 What's the difference between Kitna and Redman? Neither can get the job done, right? Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Redman costs less. Much less.Yeah...and signing neither of them...costs even less. To be precise, it costs nothing. Which is exactly what we should spend on Redman. Quote
kentjett Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I used to like Redman when he played for Louisville. At the time, I thought he would be a better pro than Couch because he had a much stronger arm but they both ended up sucking A**. I have to admit that he is better then Doug Johnson. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 You know, I was wondering what possessed Marvin and Mike and Duke to bring Redman in. If he was indeed doing his own version of a pro-day, and got discovered maybe there's something to it.Don't worry, only 1 scrub makes the squad for the season.... Quote
kingwilly Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Now Redman gets the $5 tour of the facility.Just want some honest feedback here...does anyone think Aaron Brooks may get brought in once released:3-11-06 "...reports from New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis confirmed the long-anticipated departure of QB Aaron Brooks hours before the league's trading and free agent-signing period got off to a belated start thanks to the protracted negotiations on a new labor agreement. "We're going to move on," Loomis told SIRIUS NFL Radio. "That's what it comes down to and how we do that will be determined in the next few weeks." Loomis said it's unlikely the Saints will be able to trade Brooks."Clearly he has the tools, better than the Martin/Kitna/Redman/Sage options tossed about. I think he may even take the pay cut to a level the Bengals could stomach, even if it is for more than they'd offer Kit or any of the others, as in this case, I think you get what you pay for. With Brees going to NO, and Culpepper going to Miami, he really only ha "Back-up" options available to him...why not here???2 years..$2Mill bonus...1mill/yr...voidable yr 2. counts for$2 on the cap...the release of Thornton just about cover him.. All those BIG $ deals cause unexpected FA's to pick through. Quote
Kochman Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I remember him getting drafted. I also remember him having the arm of Tim Couch. He is accurate with short passes but doesn't have the arm to throw it long. Quote
kingwilly Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 ..uh...Brooks has a BIG arm...a gun...no problem there...they ran West Coast sytem in NO and that was part of the problem.. Quote
KiLBurn Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 The Jet's would seem to have a bigger need for an above average backup, unless they intend to draft one with the #4 pick and throw him into the fire when Pennington breaks again. Quote
kingwilly Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 They could take a WHitehurst or Jacobs at the top of r2....Now, if I look around the league, it would seem that Oakland, Minny and TB could also be shopping for QB help......here's to hoping we don't "knee-jerk" sign someone till Brooks gets a shake...PLEASE. He'll probably be the most expensive quarterback left on the market given his experience and respectable set of career statistics. I'm sure he doesn't want to be a backup (even though he lost out to Todd Bauman towards the end of the year), and one of the other teams you mentioned would seem like more likely candidates for him than Cincinnati. The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 We aren't going to use a day 1 pick on a QB who will be a career backup. Quote
derekshank Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 We aren't going to use a day 1 pick on a QB who will be a career backup. Why not? We used a 1st round pick fora back-up RB. (i don't like smiley faces... but I am joking) Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I agree with TDB in that there is little to no chance of Brooks ending up here with all the other teams still shopping for a QB and the fact that he will want more $$$ than we will offer. As for a day one QB... Just say no, I'd rather wait until day two if we get a QB...WHODEY !!! Quote

(i don't like smiley faces... but I am joking)There's a huge difference between RB and QB. You use at least two RBs every game. You pray you never have to use two QBs in a season. Quote
