BlackJesus Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Ok so how about this idea ..... the Bengals purge and cut both JT (who sucks and would save about 2 mil) and Robinson (who is really a DE who has proven ineffective as well) .... and take that money and instead sign the 2 Run Stuffers in Sam Adams and Grady Jackson .... Now I know that Adams and Jackson may be a few years older but they are much better .... and would probably cost about the same. Now before you go and say that these 2 blobs would be inneffective .... let me remind you that when Marvin produced the best Defense ever on the planet .... he did it with a speedy Middle linebacker and 2 - 350 lb Defensive tackles (in Sam Adams and the Goose) ..... We have our Ray Lewis in Odell .... now lets get the hogs up front to occupy blockers like the newly signed LeCharles Bentley. A comparison .... Sam Adams 6'4345 lbsAge 32Grady Jackson 6'2355 lbsAge: 33VSBryan Robinson6'4301 lbsAge: 31John Thornton 6'3297 lbsAge: 29- Now Sam Adams has played for Marvin and already called Willie saying he was interested ..... and today Bengals.com said that the Bengals have contacted Grady Jackson expressing interest .... so why not sign them both ???? Quote
Stripes Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 so why not sign them both ???? These are the Bengals, remember?I don't want both either, they're old. Gimme a draft pick. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Didn't Jackson sign somewhere already?Oh, and Adams SUCKS. Quote
BTG Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 BJ, are you the same guy who used to post on Bengals Central (Thornton's board)? If so, how's it going, man? Long time no see. Anyway, I thought Thornton was going to be cut in the first place. Isn't he the one who leaked the info about Chad following the Steelers game? I'd definitely like to see them land a DT who can plug up the middle and let the linebackers roam freely. Adams could do that for a season or two, if he can get into shape. Personally I'm pretty high on Brodrick Bunkley from FSU. He's as strong as they come. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Didn't Jackson sign somewhere already?Oh, and Adams SUCKS.Adams doesn't suck but Dexter Jackson does.BJ your posts crack me up..but It would be nice to have them, but TDB hit the nail on the head...WE ARE THE BENGALS.Grady Jackson or Adams would work fine for me. Adams wants a 3.5 mill per year deal...similar to what worthless Jackson got from us so if we were going to sign any DT, it would prob be him. Quote
jbx182 Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 i'd actually like to see the bengals draft a DT instead. let marvin turn the draft choice into the "next" adams, jackson, whatever. maybe watson or bunkley? they look like big sam, and would be with the bengals for much longer than any vet the bengals may sign. remember the patriots got wilfork at the end of rd 1, and i believe marvin could shape any one of the late 1st rd DT's this year into a front line player. like odell at LB last year. if the bengals are coming up on their "window" then we need guys who will be around, instead of having to get some new DT's in a year or so. Don't mention Watson's name around here, cuz the member don't like him...well most of them don't. I personallly wouldn't have a problem with that choice, I think he will be a great Football player. People say he is lazy and doesn't always go full steam...but doesn't every player do that. I know Chad has done it. I think Marvin could make him into a stud. Quote
Spain Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Maybe because they play the same position. Oh wait did we forget Sam was a very agile young man for his size. Few men that big can play the athletic DT. Our how about S.Smith. What about Marbin saying JT is a better rotation guy. He would cost a lot to replace when he could rotate with a high draft pick. A Adams signing means Askew(sucks his thumb) is gone. Doesnt efect JT. Oh wait thats logic. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 I'd actually like a FA DT (but they want the big $$) and to also draft a DT (see Bunkley)...WHODEY !!! Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 They def. want big money...if the 37 year old Washington got 2 year $7 mill deal...that is a butt load for an OLD DTGrady Is a freak of nature Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 I just want some D-Line help, but this doesn't mean I want us to overpay some aging turd by any means...Is there anything wrong with addressing a need ?? PICKETT PICKETT PICKETT !!! Don't tell me, I already know, it justs sounds really really nice !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Pickett sounds sooo good right now...but...you know... Quote

turningpoint Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 maybe because they 33 years old each, we'll have no d linemend in 1 year.Maybe if you said Ryan Pickett. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Looks like Bunk could fall to us...Chiefs | Bernard to visitMon, 13 Mar 2006 15:34:05 -0800Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports free agent DT Rocky Bernard (Seahawks) has a visit planned with the Kansas City Chiefs. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Maybe Dexter can play DT/DE also? Pollack can play OLB, SS and DE.You can move KK to SSOLB or CB, Robinson to DE or OLB, Justin Smith can then play NT and DE and OLB as well.Who needs free agency with these studs? Quote
BengalChamps Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Looks like Bunk could fall to us...That would be AWESOME! But i dont think he makes it out the top 15. His stock is rising and dont think we can get him. Sam and Grady would be nice but it would eat up to much cap space. There cant be room for a QB, extend the OHogs, Dester, and sign these DT. Quote

Seems like they're taking a flyer on him to see if he can get lucky, get healthy, and turn back into a player. As long as they're not counting on him to be starting 16 games back there, because I don't want me any Herring or Mitchell. massie0929 Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I wouldn't mind having Ryan Picket come in here at all. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I wouldn't mind having Ryan Picket come in here at all.I'd be dancing in the streets, buying jerseys for everyone, and having a HUGE freaking party at my place if we got Pickett in stripes and managed to get Bunkley to fall to us. Talk about a change in the line.... Quote

Gotta get my request in early !!! WHODEY !!! Quote
BTG Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'd like to see Ryan Pickett come in here as well, but not for 5 million a year. Quote
