ArmyBengal
Dexter Jackson = *yawn* as usualWaste of money for a 7 year guy who can't play a full season the last two years. He's' not a bad safety at all when healthy, but his best years were in 02-03.Everyone welcome the new whipping boy du jour.so when he has a healthy 06 campaign and has 80+ tackels and 3 ints 1 sack, will he still be a waste of money?you know cause that whopping 1.9million a year contract he signed sure does break the whole NFL bank nowadays. Boy, I'm "hoping" as much as the next guy that he has that HUGE season you speak so easily of, but I'll believe it when I see it, which has been my whole attitude with this defense for the past few season (if not more) and I have yet to see it, which kind of makes it hard to believe. I don't think I'm the only fan feeling that way either...WHODEY !!!

TJJackson
This is a good signing for the Bengals....1) a veteran who can help develop Madieu and the rookie we'll still draft2) plays run and pass....perfect fit for Marvin's system3) can play both safety spots....just as Marvin prefers4) from a very good defense (Tampa Bay)5) Super Bowl experience6) price was reasonableThis is definitely an upgrade that did not break the bank. The question is not whether he's the greatest signing ever, or whether he's the second coming of Ed Reed....and thats a loud NO to each.....but whether he represents an upgrade at the safety spot at a reasonable cost. If you look at it that way, I think you'll agree.Oh, and WCA? Every player gets beat sometimes. Even Deion got beat at times. It happens. Showing a pic of an individual instance of a player getting beat is kinda meaningless.

TecmoFever
I like the signing because it was a cheap upgrade over what we already have, and it's the kind of safety that Marvin wants--the interchangeable type. The part that scares me, besides the injury thing, is his trip to Arizona. They cut him after a season. Maybe he wasn't the kind of safety they wanted, but to cut him after one season doesn't sound so good.Anyways, I hope they still draft a safety this year because there is some good depth out there. Well, in 2003 I weighed 175 pounds however, it's not to say I won't be 175 ever again, but I just don't see it happening right now. I have never said we need to throw over inflated contracts at players and never said Jackson WON'T BE ALL THAT HE CAN BE (that you obviously are hell bent on). I'm just being realistic and making a point that this seems to be the way of the Bengals organization. Prove that point wrong and I'll eat a hat.Negative ?? NEGATIVE ???? Ok, how's this... Marvin has stated for the past two offseasons that stopping the run is a "PRIORITY" and how has this been addressed ?? Oh yeah the stellar signings like B-Rob fit that mold. There has been little effort to stop the run and then when it didn't happen, the excuse was, well there's more to stopping the run than the front 4. This may be the truth, but don't ram your so-called priority down my throat only to get ran the f*ck over on a consistent basis year in and year out.You can call me negative all you want, I feel I'm entitled. Does this make me less a Bengals fan ?? NO, it makes me a concerned fan who wants to see a winner, just like I have for the past 32 years I have been a fan sticking by the team. Thanks for your concern...WHODEY !!! Stripes
I am pleased by this signing... He is a safety with at least notable reputation, and we got him for the price we wanted. I don't expect him to be anywhere near as bad as Ohalete (I'm not sure that's possible). We've all been complaining about the Bengals being dead in the water during free agency, well here you go folks. I expect this to be a success. Spain
The real ? here is the health factor. Its a gamble. He fits the teams scheme and came cheap because people were suspect of injuries. I just wanted to mention our reord on FAs The bad Clemmons,Thorton, Hardy, Ohalete, etc. The good, Tory These guys have made me hate free agency. But wait a minute the paradigm has shifted, We are winners. The guys in scouting might do a better job now. So I guess its wait and see. This time the guy is young not like Herring. Safetys dont last long.

oldschooler
Carson Palmer hasn`t been able to stay on a footballfield for the past two seasons...he must not be worththe "record setting contract" the Bengals are going to pay him.Madieu Williams has played in 20 games the past 2 seasons.Dexter Jackson has played in 17 games the past 2 seasons.Madieu Williams must be a "china doll" and won`t be playingenough to have an impact for the Bengals.TJ missed all of 2003 and 4 starts in '05..." he is injury prone".The fact is Dexter Jackson has played on top Defenses in his career. He has a better resume than every Safety on the Bengals roster COMBINED. The Bengals won the Division and were cheated out of a Playoff win, with backups and special teamers starting at BOTH the Safety positions.A good team just got better...be happy. Spor_tees
If our defensive secondary looked good last year in coverage with all the interceptions, imagine a secondary nowwith a guy that can cover, then throw into the mix any defensive line upgrade we will make that puts more pressure on the opposing QB. Stopping the run in our division will be VERY IMPORTANT with Drougns, Parker, Jamal Lewis, and Mike Anderson. But the thing that killed us the most and frustrated me into cursing fits every Sunday , was the Bengal's inability to hold teams on 3rd down. Most of the times this happenned with TE catches or over the middle passes. Add a more experienced linebacker corp, and Dexter Jackson, and hopefully this problem will be solved! So now let's sign Jamie Martin, Sam Adams, draft Bunk, draft a TE in round 2, and we will be A. O. K.!
Spain
I know injuries dont matter but you have to admit the TEs in our division beat on people. Do you think this guy could hold up to Heap? Well no. OH wait he doesnt have too he has M williams there to help shoulder half the load. Its still risky. Positives He is a scheme guy(our scheme) Winning experience. Drive, this guy wants back on a good D. Athletic Cheap Negatives Health All Ican say is K-MART bluelight special.
