Ravens | Team reaches deal with M. Anderson

Sun, 12 Mar 2006 19:46:46 -0800

Jamison Hensley, of the Baltimore Sun, reports the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a four-year contract with free agent RB Mike Anderson (Broncos). The total worth of the deal is believed to be $8 million with a $2 million signing bonus. Anderson expects to take over for RB Jamal Lewis as the team's starting running back.

So No Jamal?

It should be interesting.

There are some who feel that it doesn't matter who runs for the Broncos, that your gramma or mine would pick up a thousand yards either due to the system or to the blocking scheme or to the offensive line.

Count me in the camp that believes Mike Anderson is a good running back who will do well in the Raven's system, but there's a chance (hehe, a good one) I'm wrong and he'll be exposed now that he is no longer running in the Broncos offense.....

I hope for the latter, obviously....as we will see him twice a year

I expect the Ravens to dwell deep in the cellar for 2006, Mike Anderson or not. Kyle Bollers little semi-comeback against us the second meeting last year may have been enough to ensure us two more chances to beat him this year!

The Browns looked dangerous to me even before all the signings... They might end up being a GOOD team already, not just improved.

EWWWWWW I do not like the sound of Jamal Lewis behind the Bronco's line in the Bronco's running system. Especially now that he'll have a full preseason/offseason to get into shape to play again....

Nor do I... That has 2,000 yards written all over it... BUT it looks like he will stay in our division and on the decline!

Why would they sign both? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but not much of anything does.

They let Chester Taylor go, and Mike Anderson should be a solid replacement for them. If Jamal's struggles continue, then they'll have an excellent second option who can carry the load for a full season.
