Bengals | Team expected to contact Kemoeatu

Fri, 10 Mar 2006 19:27:09 -0800

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports the Cincinnati Bengals are expected to contact free agent DL Ma'ake Kemoeatu when free agency starts Saturday, March 11.

This is from KFFL.com

I just wanted to say how nice it is just to hear the organization is even considering him as an option.

I think he will be getting a big contract, but you never know. Are the Bengals really serious in this pursuit ??

We shall see !!! Hoping for good things !!!

WHODEY !!!

This per KFFL.com talking about him being looked at by the Panthers...

"Signing Kemoeatu won't be cheap or easy, as he's expected to command a long-term deal worth around $4 million per season, with at least $5 million up front."

That's a big chunk of change. Once again, what's the driving force in his decision, money or winning team. I really can't see us throwing enough at him to pass up the coin from somewhere else, but you never know. We will probably get outbid by another team for his services, but as I said before, it's nice to see the organization is at least looking at our biggest hole IMO...

WHODEY !!!

Over the past couple years I have come to just sit back, relax, and watch Marvin work his magic. I try not to get too excited about any 1 FA (Even though I would like to have Big Sam Adams) because usually I become upset when we don't get him.

Marvin knows what he's doing... I'm glad we didn't end up getting Warren Sapp a couple years ago because he would not have been that much help and would have eaten up a lot of $$$. He hasn't exactly been tearing it up in Oakland. Big name FA's are too dangerous because they are usually over-rated, and don't turn out to be what people expect.

Knowing Marvin, he thinks he can get something similar in the draft at a lower price....

If there is one thing that defines Marvin it's building through the draft....That alone makes me believe they won't make a signing in this range...

he's a 3-4 lineman. and you know how the bengals are at getting guys that fit in the scheme. i say he'll be a redskin. with the team philosophies in the north (marv, romeo, brian, and that other guy), i don't expect cleve or the bengals to break the bank for any free-agent. it's not how we run things here. name the last big FA to sign in the north!

Excellent advice. :sure: Too many people (myself included) have gotten their panties all wadded up over issues during this time of the offseason.

Just like I told you. The new big-ass cap combined with a shallow FA market equals a lot of money for players who haven't earned it. Either the Bengals will play this game... or they will get nobody.

What's your guess? They will have to act fast, and cough up a lot of money. Rocky Bernard and Larry Triplett are still out there... but my guess is we get no one. This is only one of the reasons Mike Brown probably didn't like the new deal... he knows that his unwillingness to overpay for a player is going to cost him every somewhat decent free agent out there.

It's frustrating, but it is probably just the way it is. If we want anything decent in FA, we will either have to take damaged goods, or pay much more than they are worth. My guess is damaged goods (i.e. Will Demps and Darren Howard)
