HoosierCat Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5125No big surprise there, huh? But we did get a couple good years out of him. Maybe indicates they're looking at DE (Howard, Pryce, etc)) in FA? Quote
JPW Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Gives the team another million in cap space to work with. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Howard, Pryce, either would be nice. I guess 1 million is 1 million to applied to someone else who's willing to "do their job". This is not suprising whatsoever !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
HairOnFire Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 The best example of addition by subraction since Corey Dillon was traded, and a move I would have supported even if it created just a nickle of cap space. The fact that it creates almost a million makes it a no-brainer. Best, it's an undeniable sign that the Bengals are looking to upgrade at DE. So thanks for the fish, Duane. Now beat it. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I'm still hoping they are holding out for Ryan. Quote

CPalmer9 Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Good riddence stoner, Clemons, as if half the team doesnt smoke. Now we have even more cap space to go after Pickett Quote
AMC Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I expected this move ever since the 4 game suspension. That plus age and the need to upgrade showed him the door....Not at all unexpected...I think if Marvin could get Darren Howard's attitude turned around, he would be a nice pick-up...Remember Marvin took the attitude problem child in Shaun Smith from the same NO Saints team and that looks like a good deal... Whur CHad At? Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Damnit who are we going to replace him with in the Who Dey video? It will be stupid to have him in there and he is not even with the team. What about Shayne Graham, I heard he has good rhymes. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5125No big surprise there, huh?It surprised me that it took this long to happen! Quote

ArmyBengal Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Damnit who are we going to replace him with in the Who Dey video? Yeah, I saw the quote on Bengals.com that stated that was one of his niche's in Bengals history. Personally, that should have been another reason to cut his monkeyass. That was the most rediculous thing I ever saw. God I hate it when teams do that crap. It amazed me when they played that at the stadium clubhouse, when I was home on leave, how people responded like it should be at the top of the music charts. It was pathetic. Just my .02 cents...WHODEY !!! Quote
Stripes Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Goodbye, Duane. We'd better hope our Bengals are looking to upgrade DE, because I don't expect Robert Geathers to be much better next year and beyond than he was this year if he is to remain the starter. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I think Geathers will be given the benefit of the doubt as he was the starter most of the season and was no where near in shape for it. Not to mention he was also playing inside at times. I at least will like to see how he progresses. This is not to say I don't want additional help, but think he will be looked at hard for the rotation...WHODEY !!! Quote

TecmoFever Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 How would a D-Line rotation including J. Smith, S. Smith, S. Adams, D. Howard, B. Robinson, R. Geathers, J. Fanene sound? A lot better than the one with Geathers in the middle with J. Thornton inside and Clemons on the outside?Pick up Sam Adams and Darren Howard and we've had a good free agency and can draft a safety or two. Quote

Our D-Line would be ten times better. But I do not like to blame the badness of our D-Line on Geathers because that isn't real fair. Instead I will blame it soley on Jon Thorton. Quote

I wouldn't be in favor of signing two aging defensive lineman, both of whom will probably be rather expensive. The chances of us signing either of them individually are rather slim as I see it, and much moreso for signing both. I'd like to see maybe one of them signed and then draft another lineman in the first round, but that is a rather large risk to take considering the uncertainty of who will be on the board.Goodbye, Duane. AGAIN. Hope so. In his defense he did have ZERO help, as you've mentioned. Maybe with some real tackles and a more consistent scheme, we'll see more success out of Geathers and more importantly Justin Smith. Quote
mule99 Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Marvin said he was going to release the player who blabbed about the locker room incident after the Steelers loss. Anyone think it was Clemons? I suppose this question will have to be asked every time a player is released this offseason. Quote

He'd come cheaper AND be just as effective a fat slob with no talent left in him as Sam Adams! Quote

schweinhart Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 what about ravens 340 pound hog thats only 27Kemoeatu will probably get driven out of the Bengals price range quick. Both 4-3 teams and 3-4 teams want him. The Browns and Zona are both interested and are way under the cap. The Redkins are also apparently interested in him and no doubt a Snyder jet will be launched at 12:01 to go pick him up even if he's just in Baltimore. The Ravens are also trying to re-sign him. So he won't likely come cheap. Maybe as high as $5 mill signing bonus range. Quote
