Stripes Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 There really isnt any strong armed QB's aside from Ramsey that would make defenses respect the deep game out there in free agency is there? The guy that comes to mind immediately is everybody's favorite... Josh McCown... As jamesbrooks said, that isn't a likely pickup. After him, perhaps we could go with Sage Rosenfels (blech). I really don't like any of the names I am hearing better than Kitna, other than McCown. Quote
TJJackson Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 We'll see.I will be watching to see who McCown visits closely....I will say I don't see his name mentioned much in the media yet Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 You won't see McCown's name mentioned. He's a bust, or at least he appears to be. He is a David. All the hype, no production, NO OFFENSIVE LINE. Not sure if he's all at fault or not. Quote
walshfan Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 We have a major problem at QB this year dont we? Im not counting on Palmer playing much... I know he's rehabing the best he can but that injury is going to take allot of time to heal fully... I have a freind that had a similar injury and he said it still hurts a bit after 18 months..We can only hope that Palmer is a quick healer and pray that the QB position is filled by someone that wont Lose games for us.... damn Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Rosenfels is a better bet than most to come here unless we just go with a Maddox, Blake type... I would just as soon spend VERY VERY little and chalk up the season as a whole, because we are going to suck BAD without Carson.WHODEY !!! Quote
Stripes Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 You won't see McCown's name mentioned. He's a bust. I think a lot of good quarterbacks would look like busts when forced to play behind Arizona's line and with zero running game... He did have some excellent receivers, and found success with them, throwing for well over 300 yards a couple times last year. He did have some issues with decision making, throwing a few too many interceptions. Nonetheless, he seems like the best option out there and the best fit for our talented offense. Quote
walshfan Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I was under the impression that Zona had a good pass blocking offense but was poor at run blocking... the stats show they had 2 thousand yard receivers and Warner moved them pretty well.. No running back could get off the blocks down there though.. Quote

No running back could get off the blocks down there though..They have 3 great receivers. They just have no oline. Also, look how few big plays those receivers had.... Quote

Whur CHad At? Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Expect to see Tommy Maddox in stripes next year... Quote

Stripes Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Excuse me while I go vomit !!!! Planning for having the #1 pick next draft...WHODEY !!! Hey, if we don't get Carson back until 2007 and have zero chance at winning the Superbowl, then that is FINE by me. Let us bring in Maddox, lose twelve games, and emerge at 2005 strength in 2007 with a top five draft pick in the mix. Quote

walshfan Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 It would be very hard trying to get enthused about watching the Bengals with Maddox at the helm all year.... Id rather go with Krenzel and have him try and not lose games...Looks like Rudi and Chris Perry are going to get Allot of carries this year huh????? Quote
TJJackson Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I think it's quite a bit early to go writing off Carson's 2006 season just yet, and even so, i think a capable qb will still do well throwing behind our great OL to our top notch WRs. Quote

I have no good reason for this suspicion, but I expect him back for week one. If not, I don't think we're screwed in the least. Quote
walshfan Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I want to see Palmer back as well but that injury is serious...Like I said in an earlier post, my friend had the same type of injury but not as bad and it took him a year to rehab and after 18 months he said it still bothered him somewhat.... I know Palmer has the advantage of state of the art equipment but all those tears are going to take time to mend.... Everytime I think about that hit I conjure up thoughts of how Id like to see the team kick the Steelers butt both times this year even without Carson..... Quote
TJJackson Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I honestly think we will probably have Carson for no more than 10 games this year, although like all of you i would like to see him in there - if healthy - for 16.That said, it is important to me that we dramatically improve the defense this year AND find a solidly good number 2 QB (my choice at the moment being McCown) who can keep the seat warm and win at least go 3-3 in those 6 games, and perhaps more. I'm not saying Carson is going for the whole season either, but more than a game is more than possible and God forbid something not progress the way it should and it will be more games.I get what you are saying about our offense, but Maddox didn't have any luck in Pittsburgh last year when given the chance. Someone else maybe, Maddox ?? NO !!!You want to see us beat Pittsburgh right ?? How bad would it be to get swept by them with Maddox at the helm ?? We would never live that one down !!! Once again, HELL NO !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
walshfan Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Maddox seems to have lost what little talent he had...Martin and Kitna have weak arms...Surely a team will release a vet backup thats better than whats out there right now...If not then maybe just maybe the team looks at Krenzel to start and not lose games for them.. Rudi gets more carries and Perry catches 80 balls out of the backfield along with the stud TE they draft ( Pope ) .. Quote
cincy9275 Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 i say let krenzel start. i really think he will surpise some people he never is going to be anything close to palmer but he understands the game has a year in our offense and a knack for winning . mcCown is not going to come here and the rest of the qb's that are f/a's are garbage and please no maddox. with the added money we now have with the new cba . i would really like to see this team add a quality f/a or two and with the draft this defense could be very improved if that happens then krenzel is the best guy i believe for the job . Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Chad's head will explode with Krenzel throwing to him for 3-6 games.Their best bet may be finding an Orton type in the draft and doing something about that defense, and use Johnson as a safety net, if the rookie they draft is good enough. They will have to sign someone with upside they can keep for a while, and that'll be hard to get in FA, if Kitna leaves.Although I would welcome someone like Aaron Brooks here. Jamie Martin's better than Johnson I think, but not enough so to justify signing him at this point. Quote
HairOnFire Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 You bet your butt Kitna is leaving. He was the clubhouse rat. Or if you prefer, the Judas. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Quote
