ArmyBengal Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I just think we still have needs on defense that are more of a priority and we will have good options in those positions we it's our turn to pick throughout all day one picks. "IF" we draft a TE, I would like it to be day two minus a gem dropping to us that shouldn't be there.Gimme a DT, Safety, DE, or maybe even CB in no particular order for the day one picks unless we trade down and pick up another day one, then I say... FREE FOR ALL !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
walshfan Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 The quality of tight ends available last year was MUCH weaker than this year too....I agree... there are many good prospects to choose from this year.Davis is a first rounderLewis and Pope may go in the secondByrd and Fassano in the second or third Klopenstein and Day in the fourth do they wait until the fourth and grab one of those guys?Id like to see them get Fassano in the third if possible.. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I would really like to see Fasano in the third..but that might not be real realistic. Quote
Stripes Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I don't think the prospect of nabbing Fasano in the third is all that unrealistic. He's my favorite TE prospect after Davis and Pope. I'd love to see him get snagged. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Pope is perfect for us IMO. He is like the perfect red-zone target. His big 6'8 ass can jump over anybody for a score. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 The thought of some of the day one talent at TE would be great for us, but still feel the defense REALLY needs to be the priority...WHODEY !!! Quote
TJJackson Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Pope is perfect for us IMO. He is like the perfect red-zone target. His big 6'8 ass can jump over anybody for a score.Pope can't block well enough to succeed in the Bengal's system Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 The Bengals have a system for the TE's ?? And all this time I thought the scheme was to put a TE in there to tip the play for the opposing defense... WHODEY !!! Quote

What tips the play is putting Chris Perry in and it being 3rd down.... Quote
TJJackson Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Fasano will be drafted to ensure that the play isn't tipped - he's a three down TE Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Look like Matt is headed to Philly...Eagles | Team to sign SchobelSat, 11 Mar 2006 11:25:25 -0800Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports a source told the Enquirer free agent TE Matt Schobel (Bengals) will sign an undisclosed contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Schobel played four seasons with the Bengals. Quote

Whur CHad At? Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 hahaha they signed Schobel...that still makes me laugh Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Fasano will be drafted to ensure that the play isn't tipped - he's a three down TEGET A FREAKING CLUE! All this tipped play stuff is nonsense. Why isn't it a tipped play when Chris Perry goes in? Why isn't it a tipped play when it's 3rd and long? Just because Matt of the greased hands clan goes in it's suddenly tipped? Quote

ArmyBengal Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 OK, maybe we will go after a TE on day one. No issue in the grand scheme of things... Bye Schobel and look on the bright side, with that offensive line they have you might be the best blocker they have !!!Holy crap that is sad !!!WHODEY !!! Quote

He will arrive in Philadelphia on Monday, March 13, to sign his contract and appear at a news conference.any clue on yearly pay? well mybe he'll turn out to be good TE for them and drop less balls sense all they do is throw so he'll get use to being thrown too Fasano will be drafted to ensure that the play isn't tipped - he's a three down TEGET A FREAKING CLUE! Yes, Schobel goes in mostly on passing downs. HOWEVER, passing downs are passing downs. There's no secret that 3rd and long is a passing down. There's no play tipped. It's no different than Chris Perry being put in, or a 3rd receiver, or the shotgun formation. IT IS JUST FOOTBALL.The only way it would be tipping the play is if there were only a couple of plays that they ran with Schobel was in, not half the playbook. Quote

Just because Matt of the greased hands clan goes in it's suddenly tipped? The nonsense here is the stuff coming from your keyboard.Chris Perry runs and catches and blocks. All three. In a sense, there is less tipping our hand when he is in then when Rudi (who rarely catches the ball, but does block and run) is inMatt can't block. Good riddance to him. We'll bring in a replacement who can block AND catch....and by the way, this is the job description for a Tight End, just in case you didn't know, which is a possibility given your earlier answers Quote
andybren Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 For all this drama, you'd think tipping plays was a huge problem for us. The only time I could even fathom this happening is when Reggie Kelly stays in throughout a no-huddle drive. We need a good, versatile TE. Not because our offense is hurting, but because you might as well have the best team possible. For this reason, I say wait until the 3rd round, if not Day 2. Quote
jjakq27 Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 I am kinda sorry to see him go. In a pre-Brat offense he would have been a valuable weapon but in the current setup that just isn't going to happen. I will always remember him for the game winning catch against the Steelers a few years back. Same thing for Jonny Kitna. Now that Schoebel and Clemons are gone and Kitna won't be back, how many pre-Marvin guys are left? Quote
