ArmyBengal Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I just want to see the Bengals continue to make an effort to improve this defense. If not Adams, fine. Maybe Pickett from the Rams, I think he's a better option at this point...WHODEY !!! Quote

HoosierCat Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Rocky Bernard is abosolutley terrible against the run...Well, he should fit in just fine here then, right? Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Why not Pickett and Adams??Our D Line just needs a huge makeover in the middle Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Definitely to much coin to be given up to get both of those guys. Well, at least from my perspective. Depends on how much they put on playing for a winner or going where the dollar leads them (See Cleveland)...WHODEY !!! Quote
Stripes Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Pickett would be great, but I bet he'll be pretty pricey as well. Now that we've dumped Duane, I think our free agency focus will turn to defensive end rather than tackle or safety. Those two should be very addressable in the draft. Quote

True enough, and though this year's crop seems to be a little deeper than usual, it will probably still be hard. I bet we do sign someone at DT, assuming we release Thornton, but I doubt it'll be as big a name as Pickett or even Adams... I think that if we are going after a semi-big to big one, it'll be an end. It's not his fault we had no DT to put pressure in the middle on passing downs and thus shoved him out of position at DT.... Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Right on TNBT, DT are a b*tch to find in the draft or at least risky with a 1st round pick IMO. I don't see the depth in the draft this year either that would keep me from making a play for Pickett. If they truly think Bunkley is going to be there at 24, then they may take the risk of not pursuing one in FA, otherwise, BRING IN PICKETT AND THROW SOME MONEY AT HIM !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
schweinhart Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Hopefully the Bengals decide to commit DTs inside and DEs outside. Enough of the Carl Plowed, Big Duane and Jumpy Jr. business shifting in. Smaller and quicker had some merit inside when Frazier had them stunt every other play. But if they stick with the straight 4-man rush, stick with true DTs inside and the DEs on the outside. The quality they should most prioritize in DTs is backfield penetration and in DEs quicks off the edge. Right now they have neither from either.Short of that, a DT that can hold a gap vs. the run like Shaun Smith can would help and a DT with contain and run pursuit on a par with Justin. Quote
