HairOnFire Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Don't count on Will Allen either. On the 19th KFFL reported that the Giants wanted him back and had already spent several days working on a new contract. Quote
turningpoint Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 meh it's the best thing you can do is franchise a corner right now...it was 10 million to do so last year.this year it's only 5.6 million, it's a bargin.I'm really suprised oak hasn't franchised woodson cause of this. Quote
TJJackson Posted February 22, 2006 Author Report Posted February 22, 2006 ...would have been too much coin for the Brown's anyway.Next up, Ty Law...Ty Law????I hope not....Law was just released today.....so he is definitely available in the here and now.... Quote
AMC Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 I would rather have a longer-term solution there....We already have an aging CB in Tory...Go younger, not over-priced and older.... Quote
turningpoint Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 yeah, and IMo we can go another year without really addressing out cornerbakc need, IMO that will be our 1st rder in the 07 draft( depending on how the O line is addressed).anyways I suggest we ignore the market, unless we can find a good contributor and a decent price. HoosierCat Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 I'll pass on both Law and Woodson but this note from kffl caught my eye...Jets | Team may ask Robertson to restructureKen Berger, of Newsday, reports the New York Jets may ask DT Dewayne Robertson to restructure his contract. If he were to somehow shake loose, Robertson would be very high on my list of guys to chase. Way over hyped IMO. I think we should pursue Law. The guy made the Pro Bowl and has like two good years left in him. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Bills said this was coming last week, so no suprise here. Color me very unimpressed with either Law or Robertson and quite frankly, would be a little upset to see them come in here. Law is not getting any younger and why go in that direction ?? Robertson has been VERY lazy, but maybe a change a scene wouldn't hurt. As far as change of scenery, put Howard from New Orleans on that list as well.WHODEY !!! Quote

But I think Tory does too, and I def. don't want to see him go. If we get Law cool, if we don't no biggie. When you think of Robertson, only one man comes to mind, and that is Matthias Askew, only prob. twice as bad. Quote
jamesbrooks21 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Marvin putting that much money into an older CB? Not going to happen. Law won't be in stripes that is for sure. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Law won't get a lot of money and I think he would know that Quote
Stripes Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Pass On Robertson...the guy is flat out horrible and lazy. Way over hyped IMO. I think we should pursue Law. The guy made the Pro Bowl and has like two good years left in him. That's just the thing... If the Bengals are looking to upgrade the cornerback spot, they will want someone with more than two good years left in him. This franchise is always quiet in the free agency market, and in regards to older players, I think that's the correct approach. Quote
rwalling Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 ...would have been too much coin for the Brown's anyway.Next up, Ty Law...At Safety? Maybe. Can you say Rod Woodson late in his career? Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Gee, didn't a few of us say there was no way in hell Clements was going to be a free agent pickup for anyone? Quote

Can you say Rod Woodson late in his career? That is interesting...I wonder if like Charles Woodson or Ty Law would be willing to play Safety, like Troy Vincent. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Why bring in Ty Law, or any aging CB to pay safety when you could do that with Tory and draft a guy, or start Kiewan (I hope not)Speaking of Kiewan, I think the only way he can crack the starting lineup is a safety, ans he's a very hard hitter for a CB. andybren Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 ...would have been too much coin for the Brown's anyway.Next up, Ty Law...At Safety? Maybe. Can you say Rod Woodson late in his career?Just what I was thinking. But he'd be expensive.meh it's the best thing you can do is franchise a corner right now...it was 10 million to do so last year.this year it's only 5.6 million, it's a bargin.I'm really suprised oak hasn't franchised woodson cause of this.ESPN.com says he would've been guaranteed $12.6 million. Turns out you get the average of the top 5 salaries or a 20% raise, whichever is higher. Quote
kurgan74 Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Now that Plummer has been released by the '49ers, I would not be surprised to see him wind up in stripes. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 I would be surprised to see Plummer in stripes. He lobbied to come here once before and I got the feeling he pissed off Mike Brown. Besides he's not really much of an upgrade over anyone we have. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Plummer really sucks....Pass Quote
