Pope is a mid to late first round pick.. certainly not a late second ...
Gilles is a great run blocker ...his pass blocking is questionable..he's also overweight even by NFL standards ...

They team will go for defense in the first two rounds maybe even three...

the cornerback or safety they draft should be able to not only play his position but return punts as well... Why waste a pick just on getting a guy to ruturn punts?
Blackmon is interesting I agree..
Darnel Bing is a blue chip safety.. Ronnie Lott type that returned punts for USC...

If Kitna moves on I think Kurt Warner would be a great fit.. He's still got the arm and he's at the age where just playing some would be allright with him.. I think he knows his starting days are about over...
with the receivers we have I think he'd put up some good numbers in Carson's absence...

He is not the best. He lacks the ability to adapt his design to the talent of his people; his design is very downfield pass oriented and with Carson, Chad TJ and Henry, it works well.
My big problem is with our o line coach-- Paul Alexander-- with virtually 3 first round picks on the line, they should be perfect. Half the time they don't block a good hole for Rudy and Levi blows so many pass rushes from the ends, it is not funny.
If Brat leaves to coach somewhere else, get Mularky
How many sacks did the line give up this year?? How many did Levi give up.. He goes up against the best best rushers ...KGB, Freeney, Stubbs to name a few.. he have up 5 sacks in 16 games... he should have been mentioned for the probowl...
the question I have with Alexander is how will the next line of linemen fare.. they are not blue chippers as the first team.. ( Bluto, Kieft, Viera, Andrews and Wilkinson need someone that can raise them to another level.. I hope Alexander can do that....

Mark Martz for all his supposedly genius makes plays that leave the fans wondering...
Is Brat the best ?? prbably not but I dont think he's in the bottom half either....

Nothing like having a poor man's Randy Moss as your #3 WR.
That 60 yard pass he caught that knocked both he and Carson out was probably the most cruel sports moment of my lifetime...although it won't have nearly the lasting power that Krumrie's did.
They need to have an off-season counselor/trainer follow that kid around everywhere he goes and keep him working hard and in-line...he's too good to let go astray.
Im with you on that one Shula. Never has a feeling of exileration left me so quickly as on that play... Will be forever etched in my mind of Bengal moments...

Walsh...I was using an "analogy".
I was "comparing" how I feel about the Bengals
and how I feel about people bashing a "family member".
I also compared other Bengals fans to "family members"
saying that it is easier to handle hearing a family member
bash someone in your family than it is for someone you
hate to do it.
I know this team has alot to work on.
And I accept that. Even a Super Bowl team
has a "weak link" or two. I know the Bengals
are closer to being Super Bowl contenders
than they are farther away from it.
I have heard people bash the Bengals for years.
I just try to look at things as optimistic as possible.
I guess it`s best for people to know what angle
I`m coming from.
It just pissed me off that Boomer went to the Steelers
and bashed my team. I guess I`m in the minority.
But that`s OK. It`s only my opinion.

The players Marvin has brought in is not all his fault.
the stigma of playing in Cincinnati was deep rooted by many NFL players to be sure..
He brought in players that knew his system and felt could help somewhat.. Most were also cap friendly..
That perception has changed for the most part.. Hopefully he can lure some quality players into the fold now....

What you fail to realize ( for reasons unknown to me ) is the Bengals are and will allways be Boomer's team as well as any fan's.. He played most of his career here..raised his family here.. took them to the super bowl...
He's also a National figure now.. He has to be objective and I think he is..
You seem to think that everything is ok here and nothing the "stars" of this team do is considered inappropriate or wrong..
Your entitled to your opinion.. I dont agreee with it but so what....
We all want to see this team succeed.. Hopefully it will without all the drama next year...

What happened to the Tim Couch thing? I wouldn't mind entertaining that option...
Couch is working out for allot of teams... He'll take whats best for him and his family.
He is from this area so that may play a small part in his plans..
By all accounts his shoulder has healed sufficientlly enough for him to play without pain again.
