Attaboy BengalPappaw! That's the reasoning I was looking for. Sold. Like I said. I could care less about Jason White. I just didn't know why everyone was on Pollack's nut's. (Except for his game tape on Yahoo.com). I won't be able to take another year of swiss cheese run d.
-
I was watching the scouting combine yesterday, and David Pollack didn't look to good. I am no Jason White fan, but didn't he produce just as much as Pollack if not more in college? He can't even find an NFL team. Why is there so much optimism when it comes to Pollack compared to White? He ran a 4.9 40, and they say he has short arms. Where does the optimism come from?

Who'd of guessed that?

Game 1 last year, Pete did seem to be Carson's go-to guy.
-
This guy was the number 4 pick in the NFL draft. CJ, TJ, Henry, and even Ken Walter's are all getting more props than this guy. If he doesn't respond then he is either a flop or hurt. Either way, I feel a real competitor would try to prove all of us, the Bengal's organization, and the entire NFL wrong for throwing dirt on him. I wonder what he is thinking about all of this?

Does Collinsworth still hold the rookie receiving record in a Super Bowl from his 1982 SB?
-
I just hope that Brady isn't the new Montana and keeps breaking our hearts.

Haironfire. That was the best observation I have heard about those 2 games. I guess that answers my questions.

Which one of thse Super Bowls do you really feel we should have won? Them fumbling the kickoff in 81 (82) should have been our momentum. Even though it seemed like a blowout, I'll go with that Superbowl, but then again. That damn int that Billups dropped. Ouch.

Is Pollack still 99 45 was a gay looking # anyway.

I was out of town. The Bengals rule.

I went to Cincinnati last week and spent a day with the team, coaches, front-office people and lots of fans.
Two weeks ago, the team held a practice in shorts and opened it up for the fans to watch. About 12,000 people showed up! Bengals fever is back in a big way. And it is amazing to me that consecutive 8-8 seasons in one city could be a sign of disaster and doom, yet in Bengals land it is a sign of hope and optimism. After 24 hours in the Bengals community, there was no doubt that I started to get the bug that the time has come for black and orange to step up.
When I asked a few of the players about trying to identify the moment the Bengals turnaround started, I got two consistent answers. The younger veterans who hadn't been through the worst of times sighted the fourth quarter of the game against the Ravens late last year at Baltimore when the team stormed back with 24 points to defeat the mighty Ravens and their defense. The older players said it happened when Marvin Lewis came in as head coach and immediately started changing the way things were done with running the team. The media I spoke with felt it was both ... and a lot more. They sighted good drafts, especially this last one when the team selected David Pollack, Odell Thurman and Chris Henry in the first three rounds.
There is risk attached to Thurman and Henry because of some issues in their past, but the people that cover the team feel Lewis' strongest suit may be the ability to mentor young players and keep them headed in the right direction. As one assistant coach said to me, "We may have drafted three first-round players when it was all said and done."
As I pulled out of Cincinnati, it occurred to me that this team may not be ready for a Super Bowl run, but the quiet optimism of the head coach and the momentum of the late-season charge in 2004 have the team on the right track. The things Lewis is doing to bring this team closer together -- like a visit to a NASCAR track with the players for the experience of a race -- made me feel something very special is brewing in Bengals country.
Watch out AFC North, here they come ready or not!

The Bengals could have won both of those games. I started sweating Palmer after he could have won it in the end in both games, but didn't. Then I gained some faith after the Ravens comeback. I think that beating the Steelers will be a huge stepping stone for Palmer.

You can hear NFL Total Access on Sirius Satellite Radio at 7:00 pm. Sirius NFL is great. You can get all of the football talk you can handle and actually leave the house.

The best part about this thread is that it doesn't matter. When was the last time we could say that our 1st round pick being a bust doesn't matter? I remember after Blake came on the scene, all we needed was a running back and the Bengals would be unstoppable. I still remember coming home from work and seeing the ESPN scroll that KiJana was out for the season. Heart broken. We now have depth and aren't just relying on 1 guy to save us. (Except for Marvin). I hope he does come back and is the next Priest Holmes, but we got some quality guys last year, and whether we have him or not. We are going to the playoffs.
-
I was just looking at the history of Cincy. This will be the 38th season, and I have followed them since 81'. They have only had 7 playoff appearances in 37 seasons. Is there any team worse than that in the NFL? At least we'll have the Super Bowl this year.
-
I love this guy too, but it is hard to believe he played defensive end in college. He looks tiny compared to Justin Smith.
-
I hope they do cut Washington, and what receivers are people always talking about that take 3 years? It's 2 years or the players will be average at best.
-
With all of the injuries to this guy, I am not encouraged. I think he may be a bust. Does anyone have any faith in this guy?
-
Are you saying that if any of the 3 were scrubs on the fourth string that they wouldn't be cut immediately? Your nuts.
-
Heaven knows how much I love the NFL, that's not going to change. I just find it amazing after reading that Terrell Suggs is getting charged with assault now. The double standard the league has when it comes to it's stars. They suspend Onterrio Smith for a year because of a 3rd failed drug test. Which is fine with me, but I find it strange that Ray Lewis was arrested for interfering with a murder, Jamal just got out of the pen for cocaine and now this. What do they all have in common? They are all criminals, play for the Ravens and have made pro bowls. I know they are great, but Billick should try to restore a little order in that nut house, and if not then the league should.
-
Steelers, Niners, and Cowboys demolished their oppenents. The Patriots squeek buy. Brady is money, but they're a couple of field goals and an interception from being the Buffalo Bills. The above mentioned teams will beat the crap out of the Pats. They are good. I'm just saying that there is no way the will win the Super Bowl this year. They won't even make it.
-
I don't get this. No team has EVER won 3 Super Bowl's in a row, yet here we are everyone wondering how anyone will beat the Pats. I hate all of the NFL preview magazines, because all they do is reorganize the playoffs from the year before and have a different team play the Patriots. These guys are not the greatest team in history. They have lost both coordinators, have lost key players, and are starting to get the contract holdouts. They'll still beat the Colts though. That leaves the Bengals.
-
This is EXACTLY what the team needed and has not had in the Marvin Lewis era. A kick-ass, take no S$#@ defensive player who takes it as a personal insult to allow guys to run all over them. Now we have 2. Super Bowl!
1st 4 sold-out. I hope that last 4 dont until..

They have got to have a fast start. I will tell you what. There is so much pressure on this season it is going to be crazy. If they have the same poor start, then it will be back to the whole doomsday talk. Even if they lose week 1, we will all be having nervous breakdowns. With that favorable schedule they should be 4-2 after 6. 3-3 at the worst. 2-4 would be a disaster. That's alot of pressure for a team that's best record the last 14 years has been 8-8. I say 5-1.
