  1. Here’s another blast from drafts past: Chargers cut Alex Leatherwood. Another alleged stud turned dud.
  2. According to nfl.com the Bengals have cut S PJ Jules. Whoever that is.
  3. Another former Bengal cut, Tre Flowers, down in Jax. No particular interest, we are overstocked at DB, but figured I would toss it in here. Also a report floating around that Njongmeta has made it through the initial cutdown to 53: https://www.si.com/nfl/bengals/news/report-cincinnati-bengals-preseason-standout-maema-njongmeta-makes-initial-53-man-roster-01j6a08xckky
  4. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/08/27/nfl-private-equity-ownership-vote.html It will be interesting to see if Mike is willing to sell a piece of the team.
  5. Perine would be an upgrade over Trayveon but I’m not trading for him.
  6. The Enquirer reminds me of the rule change this year. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/nfl/bengals/2024/08/26/what-to-know-about-bengals-key-decisions-before-roster-cutdown/74953637007/

  9. Lee is a pure center. That’s why he was there so late. Teams usually want their backup C to be G or OT too. At this point I don’t think they can risk trying to get him on the PS.
  10. Chase practicing now. https://www.nfl.com/news/bengals-wr-ja-marr-chase-returns-to-practice-amid-contract-dispute

  13. Your guess is as good as mine.
  14. Well, back when all this started it was, he’s waiting for JJ to sign and set the market, and he did, so at least to me it’s no surprise that a JJ-level deal is what he wants. And I think we all knew that whatever JJ’s deal turned out to be, it was going to be a rhymes-with-witch to push through the front office because it would require them to break their self-imposed rule about guaranteed money beyond year 1. And and, this was all bubbling up a year before an extension would normally be done. I don’t know what they’re going to do. I suspect the FO very much wants to wait until 2025, and since it doesn’t look like Chase is actually going to hold out, they probably don’t do a deal this year. But that’s just a guess.
  15. And welcome to the final game of the preseason, aka the Scrub Bowl. I don't anticipate much interest, but here's a thread anyhow.
  16. Good breakdown here on Chase’s reported demands. Bottom line, it’s perfectly doable and not unreasonable. https://atozsports.com/nfl/cincinnati-bengals-news/jamarr-chase-contract-request-report-justin-jefferson/
  17. Well, remember this some guy on bookface, tho a similar narrative is coming from the Rapien/Egger end of the media. Joe himself has insisted he’s fine. I think we all expected the wrist to require some level of management, we will just have to see how it goes.
  18. From the bookface group I follow:
  19. Hubbard, Trent brown back at practice today.

  21. My non-player-specific takeaways would be: The defense was impressive in that the only starter out there today was Hill and the Bears ones couldn’t do squat. Tackling and coverage were mostly solid and there were some nice run-stuffs. Offensively, again it was all backups. Not much going in the run game. Passing game was sub par but notably I thought the backup oline held up well. Woodside took a couple ugly blindside sacks but I put those on him. Have to be aware pre snap and at least peek after the snap. Teams were fine I guess. McMoney hit from 54 so a good day.
  22. Bears hype has been out of control since the draft. Up here in Chicagoland it’s so bad I’m starting to root for Green Bay.
  23. Took the bears ones almost 30 minutes to get a td against our backups and scrubs. Chicago is going to disappoint a lot of bears fans this year.
  24. Newton never looked back there
