Yeah way they have been running I go for it there easy.

Rankins wasn’t supposed to replace Reader. They traded interior run d for interior pass rush, theoretically at least.

Browns and Ravens up early.

Jenkins officially out. Higgins and Hudson listed as doubtful but were DNP all week so, yeah. Mims also doubtful after limited work all week. Stone (back) and Sample (biceps) popped up on the report today, both limited.

Thursday report: Did Not Practice: Higgins (hamstring), Kris Jenkins (knee) Limited: Amarius Mims (pectoral), Wilson (knee), Tanner Hudson (knee) Full: Joe Burrow (wrist), B.J. Hill (knee), Zack Moss (neck) im assuming the “knee” for Jenkins is a typo.

Tough break. That sucks for him.

Yeah, if Chase stands to make $90-95 million in starting this year through 2026, he ought to take it. I just don't know that's the case. The Bengals have reportedly offered him $140 million in new money, split into three pots: a $30 million signing bonus in 2024, and then beginning in 2026, $50 million in non-guaranteed coin, and then in 2027, $60 million guaranteed money. To put it another way, he is being offered a four-year deal worth $110 million total starting in 2026, with no guarantees until 2027. If he signs it, he gets $30 million this year and...something in 2025. I assume it's at least the $22 million he's already guaranteed. What's 2026? We don't know. If it's $35 million, yeah, take the money and run. If it's, say, $12.5 million because the non-guaranteed coin is split equally over four years as salary? I probably still do it (who am I kidding, I'd do it for 10% of that!) but maybe he doesn't. And that leaves nearly $100 million on the table if the Bengals cut him before the 2027 guarantees kick in.
-
It's tough to say without a year by year breakdown. Is the $60 million they want to guarantee in 2027 all that's left, so it's just like all guaranteed salary? Or it that $60 million a second bonus and there's $30-40 million or whatever in non-guaranteed money in those last three years too? The Bengals trying to push the guarantees to 2027 makes me think the latter is the case. That would give the Bengals an out year in 2027, when instead of guaranteeing his coin they could cut him for a $15 million dead money charge.
-
So Rapien has some more details today. I can honestly see both sides here. Trying to wait until 2027 to give Chase the bulk of the guarantees is pushing it a bit. OTOH This would give Chase around $55 million this year and next, all of which is actually or effectively guaranteed, which ain't pocket change. Sucks they couldn't close the gap.

Yup, and that’s basically my takeaway again, he was a pile of rust Sunday, physically and mentally. I just hope the wrist isnt an issue. Good breakdown here from Joe.

Oh look another opportunity to be disappointed. https://www.local12.com/sports/bengals/5-former-cincinnati-bengals-players-nominated-pro-football-of-fame-seniors-category-ken-anderson-boomer-esiason-isaac-curtis-lemar-parrish-bill-bergey

Eh, they just lost an ugly game they were supposed to win, at home, Chase is dehydrated and looking for an iv and a bunch of media numbskulls are asking the same old stupid questions. I’d be irritated too.

My $0.02: The No. 1 issue to me, by far, is Joe Burrow. I think we all agree that he did not look right out there Sunday. The question is, is the problem in his head, or in his wrist? Sunday was the first time he'd been back playing the real thing in like 10 months...some of which were famously spent playing fashion model in Paris. Now that's fine, I don't expect him to be all football 24/7/365. That's a recipe for burnout. But he didn't look like he was seeing the field and processing as fast as he usually does Sunday. Honestly I hope this is all it is, that he just needs a week or two to get back in the groove. Then there's the wrist. Lots of reports of him futzing with it and the wristband, and taking extra throws on the sidelines late in the fourth. And we all know how he had opportunities deep on the last drive and didn't even look downfield. He attempted 29 passes Sunday and they were almost all short. If his wrist only has a couple dozen passes in it a game, and maybe fewer if he tries to air it out multiple times, we are in a world of hurt. Time will tell.

TBF Stone was dinged for missing tackles in Baltimore too. So not a new thing with him.
-
If you like to be extra pissed off about this loss, on his wrap video last night Lap said “it was his understanding” that the league had told the bengals that the refs botched the call and the Gesicki TD catch should have stood.
-
Higgins is still dealing with the hammy. Zac said he’d have an update on him, Jenkins and Mims Wednesday. I’m not expecting any of them but we’ll see. Not seeing anything about Chase. Probably just betting site bs.
-
I don’t agree with that. They weren’t getting out physicaled yesterday, they were just fukking up left and right. This I can get behind. The o is one dimensional and lacks creativity.

Oh look more ugly sexual assault shit about Watson. Browns might be able to weasel out of that hell contract after all. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/deshaun-watson-sued-for-sexual-assault-browns-qb-named-in-disturbing-new-lawsuit-arising-from-2020-incident/
