  1. There's always this perspective to hang our hats on if/when this team catches lightning again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJusV2J9Nlo "Nope, not that day". Love that. Whit and Fitz together should be pretty interesting to listen to.
  2. It’s not this week but I totally missed the Bengals at Chargers game getting flexed INTO Sunday night football November 17th. The Colts Jets game was slotted and now moved out.
  3. So you're telling me there's a chance !!
  4. Being "Over" confident would have to start with BEING confident. That I am not. Burton is obviously more of a child than I originally thought. I gave credit to the thought of him training with Housh and him saying Burton was past all that nonsense. "He's misunderstood" was uttered as well. Unfortunately for Housh, he no longer gets that benefit from me. Any player he recommends in the future will now carry a question mark. Burton cost Housh that luxury with me as a Bengals fan. I had REALLY high hopes for Burton and was wrong about him. Still rooting for him to pull his head out of his ass, but agree about the lost year. Maybe more. Hope his immaturity isn't terminal.
  5. Pretty much
  6. That is one of the saddest thing I’ve seen written about the Bengals. While COB is always funny and there is humor in that statement, it’s 100% facts. God help us…
  7. Apparently Lamar Jackson hit the injury report with a knee ding, but expected to play.
  8. Aaaaaaaaaand nothing. Got it.
  9. The most recent name I've seen multiple places is them look at Calais Campbell at DT. Apparently the team is calling teams about D-Line and CB help.
  10. Yeah, there seems to be a muttering of rumors like that. DE, DT and CB dominate those conversations. If the front office truly believes that adding a couple of players is what will get them back on track, then fucking make it happen.
  11. It's something again that needed to be done. Apparently the change of scenery should help him. Additionally, the Bears OC is an absolute idiot and didn't really figure out how to use him. A 7th rounder is next to nothing. Hopefully we get more than that in return.
  12. Nothing massive but something nonetheless... Bengals traded a 2025 7th round pick to the Bears for RB Khalil Herbert. Had to do something with Moss being out indefinitely.
  13. THIS game is the one which should be viewed as a "must win" in my opinion. With 7 teams making the playoffs, the Bengals currently sit in 9th behind the Colts despite having the same record. They are actually 1 game out of the last spot at the moment, but their conference record sucks ass. While they could still make it if they drop this game, it's more than just getting a "W". It's beating a very good team that happens to be a division rival. There's no stat for knowing you are capable of playing and winning at that level. Losing this game I think results in an absolute crash of the team. In all honesty, this team is not good enough to beat the Ravens and certainly not on the road in a primetime game. All that being said, I never count out a motivated Joe Burrow against a team he's very familiar with.
  14. I watched most of the game. I wanted to be excited but wasn't. Beat the Ravens Thursday and we will talk.
  15. Whodey ?? Maybe ?? Ehhh ?? Nope…
  16. Yep get all of that too and don’t disagree. Thankfully because of my son I’m a huge Texans fan as well and happy to still root for Mixon. I think the change of scenery also plays a part in him doing well this year. Happy for him. We seen the Texans 3 times this year. Once in Indy and been down to H-Town twice. Went to the Bengals Monday Night Game but that’s it and have no plans on going to any more this year. As always… there’s always next year. Maybe lightning in a bottle works out.
  17. I’m already think the season is over but another home loss to a sub par team will do them in. Fire coaches, trade Tee, and burn it down rebuild mode.
  18. Bah Humbug
  19. Agree wholeheartedly with the "Winging It" aspect. When things don't go right, he always gets that stupid, "That didn't work?" look on his face. Also agree with his skill in culture building.
  20. The Bengals utilize two main business philosophies from my perspective. The "Wait and See" and the "Hope and Pray". Wait for the offseason to hit and they have to figure out all the free agents they are getting ready to have to make a decision on. There are 6 starters getting ready to be UFA's. That doesn't include dealing with Ja'Marr's contract.
  21. Funny, but no chance Mike Brown is a stoic. When thinking in that light, he refuses to see how he could turn obstacles into opportunities. Going against the allowance of private equity demonstrates that perfectly. That is an absolute opportunity that he simply views as an obstacle. The obstacle is the way.
  22. Pretty much. I was exposed to it first in the military and had I put it into practice then, it would have helped more. Then it kept popping up here and there, before getting a heavy dose in my master's program that finally stuck. It always fascinated me that thoughts from thousands of years ago could still be very much applicable today. I wish it would have stuck when I was a younger man, but glad it finally did. I will wear my "Nerd" badge with honor !!
  23. Well Greg, as much as I get irritated by the Bengals and the stupid decisions they make which lead to what we saw Sunday I'm reminded of my love of Stoicism. I don't control the Bengals decisions, I don't control the coaches play calling and I don't control the players executing the game plan. I do love football and enjoy watching to no end. I'd rather have it than not. It's how you respond to what is. That is all we control. Take Sunday for example. I could have thrown my remote at the TV, but instead I got up and cut circles into my yard when mowing. My TV survived another Bengals game and now my neighbors all have commented about the grass and the design that really does look good. "Not merely to bear what is necessary, but love it"
  24. Couldn’t agree more. The lack of a running attack is problematic. I don’t usually say this but a dynamic running back should be considered early in the 2025 draft. While coaches aren’t on the field making plays, Anarumo is failing. Mightily. While not having elite talent at all three levels, he has enough that the defense should be good enough to produce a win when the offense puts up 25+ points.
  25. I also took a look at the draft, since they claim to build the team through that process. Coach Zac took over in 2019 and has made 51 total picks. The # of picks per round are as follows: 1st- 6 2nd- 6 3rd- 7 4th- 10 5th- 5 6th- 10 7th- 7 Of those 51 picks, 30 are still with the team and 10 of those represent starters at their position. I'm not sure what that looks like for all teams claiming to hold a philosophy of "building through the draft" but that's less than 50% of the starters coming from the draft during Zac's tenure as head coach. The Myles Murphy and Dax Hill picks have really hurt this team, especially when considering the defensive woes. The team needs those two to perform at the talent level suggested by their draft ranking and them not doing that contributes greatly to the problems. Is it the players? The scouts? The coaches and schemes? Maybe a combination, but those hurt. My take away when considering all those numbers is that this team should be taking more chances to move up in the draft, taking a shot at better quality players. I get you need to round out rosters, but it's hard to build a quality roster when nearly 63% of your draft picks come from the 4th round or later. That number is staggering to me. EDIT: The Bengals have gotten 2 pro bowl players out of those picks.
