Between Roy, Rivers, Maualuga, and the rest of the defense who watched that cheap shot last year, Hines better have his head on a serious swivel. He is likely to be target #1 coming into the season.

David Pollack was just a case of dumb (bad) luck, yes he was a tweener but I think he would have made a pro bowl OLB he had great instincts, great passion for the game, was a serious student and devoted film watcher, everything you look for and a great character guy as well. Nobody could have predicted his injury and I certainly don't blame him for retiring.

Super Bowl! Super Bowl!
This was the last piece before worldwide domination!.........okay well it IS a nice personal interest story.

Chris Carter was selected in the supplemental draft out of OSU.

A 7th Round Pick signs before camp! AMAZING!
In other news, the sun sets in the west! Barack Obama is African American! And two year olds can sometimes be a pain in the butt (this last one I know from personal experience).

What did they do with the money they saved from cutting Willie, Rudi, and Deltha? In 2008? nothing. In 2009? Signed Roy Williams, Tank Johnson, J.T. O'Sullivan, Laverneus Coles, not to mention keeping free agents, Brandon Johnson, Cedric Benson, Chris Crocker. So you say, why couldn't they have kept those guys for 2008 and then cut them, it isn't as easy as that because you can't just cut players after the season is over (or suffer the wrath of the Players Union) we would have had to carry those contracts into the offseason and thus we would have had to delay our free agent push and we would have likely lost out on some of the guys we brought in. The Bengals had a superb offseason, bringing in guys who are veterans but not over 30 years old, guys with good football intelligence and with the exception of Tank Johnson (who has been clean for better than 30 months) good character and bolstered the free agency with a great draft. Would Willie have helped last year, sure, but maybe one or two games at most. Deltha didn't want to be here and Rudi was done as we all witnessed in Detroit. What did we lose, maybe a chance to go 6-9-1? Please.
This team APPEARS to making good decisions, I am all for slamming the team for the things they have done wrong but you also have to praise them for the things they have done right.

Uniforms are fine, Helmet is awesome....but we do have the worst fight song ever written.

I at least respect the Steelers, so I would say the Steelers.
I deeply dislike the Browns, so I can NEVER root for them.
The Ravens....well, are just the Ravens.
The Steelers have been the model of consistency and you have to respect how they have conducted their business, 4 coaches in 40 years, consistent winners, best drafters in the NFL for the history of the draft because they have a plan and follow it. I don't like them but I respect them.

Would love to be in.

Not sold on the offensive line pass protecting better than last years, I am convinced the defense will be better and the running game will be better, I am ALMOST convinced that we will have better WR play, Ochenta y Cinco still has something to prove to me but his additude coming into camp is 1000% better.
I say 64% completion rate with 30 TDs 18 INTs and 3846 yards.

These NFL Previews are nothing more than a review of last year, they don't generally account of any of the offseason moves nor do they do any real analysis, they are wastes of paper.

This is why Twitter will be the worst fad in human history. Who the heck needs to write every random thought that flitters through their head. Hmmm..I could go for a peanut butter banana sandwich. Opps I just yawned! Michael Jackson's death = 911. We report it as news and it may be the beginning of the end, though forums aren't much better than twitter for spewing hyperbole.

How about "the guys who haven't earned any kind of reputation yet" not very catchy I know, maybe TGWHEAKRY for short?

I could definitely see a package where we flow to a 3/4 with Michael Johnson, Rey, Dhani, and Keith Rivers as our 4 backers and Odom/Tank, Sims, Peko and our three downlinemen.
This defense is the deepest Bengals defense I can ever remember and the most capable of using multiple fronts to confuse the offense.

5-11, 6-11 whatever it takes....
Since the Browns have come back into the league they have finished the season with a better record than the Bengals 3 times out of 10 years. The Orange and Brown rhetoric has gotten rather stale, the only team that has been a consistently bad as the Browns have been since 1999 has been the Detroit Lions, and that is all I have to say about that. I'll make a blanket statement that any team who does not in June know who their starting QB is has 0% chance to win unless that team also has a dominating defense, and Cleveland does not have a dominating defense.
I think we have a realistic chance to overtake the Ravens, after all they have lost their starting SS, WILB, are starting a rookie RT (who graded out much worse than our rookie RT) and have several key players getting older (Ray Ray, Derrick Mason, Todd Heap). The Ravens still don't have a great secondary and can be beat deep which gives us a great chance to take at least one out of two provided we can keep Palmer healthy. Their offense is still not scaring anybody.
Pittsburgh on the other hand....with Holmes stepping into his own and another year in the system for Sweed and Mendenhall. I think Timmons will be an upgrade over Foote. I think Pittsburgh is going be awfully tough to beat, they might be the most well rounded team in the league (and I don't mean their QB's beer belly)

Friday July 31st 2009 is my guess.
Anyone want to build a pool?

I absolutely loved the quote though
"Told that former center Eric Ghiaciuc indicated The Ocho was a distraction, he fired back, "Ghiaciuc's play was a distraction. Of all people to call me that.""
I am actually thinking that Chad is getting back, I like practical joking Chad a whole heck of alot better than manic depressive slacker Chad. But time will tell, next time Carson throws to a different receiver than 85 we will see if he pouts like my 2 year old daughter.

We could always send him to Cleveland, I hear the Banks are a real hot spot.

A shame it has to be in Detroit.
I think spending a week in Chicago sounds like a great way to experience the US. Great blues clubs downtown, the museums are first rate, Great club scene on Rush St., try Harry Carey's for a great steak and of course you have to get bleacher seats to a Cubs game at Wrigley. Chicago is a great place to spend a week provided you are not going in the winter when the wind can be brutal.

I was happy he said, I screwed up last year and that was on me, my head wasn't in the right place and I need to fix it (paraphrasing of course to get rid of the BS). I was happy he said he was personally embarrassed by his play last year and that of the team. But actions speak better than words, I will pass judgment based off training camp. Hard Knocks will be a good test for the "new" Chad Ochenta y Cinco.
-
At least he issued his mea culpa for last season, it is a start, we will see on the 19th whether or not it is lip service or if he has really bought into this offense and this team.
-
I am thinking Cedric Benson (HB1), Bernard Scott (HB3), Brian Leonard (HB2/FB2), Fui Vakapuna (FB) unless Jeremi Johnson really puts it together (something I doubt), with Pressley and James Johnson on the Practice Squad.

I have 3 year old twins and having them grow up in Omaha is a whole lot better than having them grow up in Middletown, miss my hometown don't miss the crime, pollution, economic distress etc. It does get a little boring from a sports perspective here in Nebraska, honestly they start talking about rosters for the Spring Game in Late January 24 hours/7days a week/365 days per year Husker talk *blech*
We've signed Luigs
in Cincinnati Bengals

I'll see your Cartoon Network and Nickolodeon and raise you Sprout and Noggin. I have 3 year old twin girls. The children's programming is enough to make you run screaming from the house, current favorites are Yo Gabba Gabba - Wow, Wow Wubbzy and The Backyadigans (though I really don't mind the Backyardigans in all honesty)
