wookie
Found this: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/transactionsEaton's a 9 yr veteran with decent size at 6'5 305, with Williams going down for the rest of the season should the Bengals try to pick him up??Or, is there a reason the Cowboys don't want him anymore, like an injury or something I haven't heard yet? schweinhart
Eaton had four surgeries on the same knee in a year. He missed all of last year and nobody seemed interested in him after Seabirds cut him pre-camp until Parcells picked him up after pre-season games started IIRC.ML didn't draft a Day 1 DT, didn't sign any free agent DTs, and hasn't claimed any off waivers. Williams gets put on IR and Scott gets called up from PS.It's been hard for me to believe that acquiring DTs wasn't the main priority this year but I'm finally starting to get the picture that the Bengals ain't signing any come hell or high water.I doubt they sign Eaton. BengalPappaw
Well, if they aren't going to pick up anyone else, I hope we get to see a lot of Askew. I'd like to see him develop -- now! There are very few good college tackles that appear to be able to help the Bengals. :player:
semiotter
Hey guys there is a good article on TONY WILLIAMS getting the cut block, his comments and other coaches comments in the offical BENGAL web site. It was pretty good... :player: GO TONY YOU DA MAN!!! :player:
HoosierCat
If they were going to sign any aging DT, they would have brought back Steele, who already knows the system and the team and would have been a "plug and play" guy. It appears that instead they've decided to see what the young'uns have got. Considering that our playoff hopes currently reside in the "slim to none" category, I agree with the logic. kybengalsfan
JoiseyCat you may agree with the logic, but I'm getting darn tired of watching us develop all of these years. Every year is another re-building year, or some other excuse. We should play to win now, then good things will happen, such as free agents wanting to come here. CincyJay
Rebuild all we want, it's never going to be good enough for us. Unless we get to the playoffs by some chance. A stretch, yes i know!!!
Barbarian
Hey guys there is a good article on TONY WILLIAMS getting the cut block, his comments and other coaches comments in the offical BENGAL web site. It was pretty good... :player: GO TONY YOU DA MAN!!! :player: I hate to see a guy injured--but to correct you:TONY WASN'T THE MAN. If he was, then the Run Defense wouldn't have been as bad as it was. The Pass Rush would have been better too.Ever notice how the Bungles have to blitz a LB to get a good pass rush???

skyline
From bengals.com...A source outside the Bengals said Tuesday that the Bengals worked out three defensive linemen, including two veterans who began the season with NFC North teams. Billy Lyon, a seventh-year player out of Marshall who lists Erlanger, Ky., as his hometown, began the season in Minnesota. Larry Smith, a six-year player out of Florida State, began the year in Green Bay. Derrick Crawford, a free agent the Bengals signed out of Texas A&M Commerce this season, also worked out. The Bengals cut Crawford after this past training camp.

Barbarian
No other NFL Franchise is getting close to Chad Eaton--that's why I'm sure the Bungles are interested--See WANNABE OFFSEASON COULD HAVE BEEN ACQUISTIONS.Don't be surprised to see the Bungles try to sign him since he probably can't pass a physical. HoosierCat
Larry Smith:http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/133416Another sub-300 DT...---Billy Lyon:http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/3856Boy, that's a helpful page, ain't it? Way to go nfl.com.---Derrick Crawfordhttp://www.allsports.com/nfl/prodraft/dl_s1.htmScroll down a few screens, they have some kind words about him. Sounds like the best choice, but also the least likely to be any immediate help.
schweinhart
At least Eaton and Smith have seen a fair share of action this year. But still, ML signing either seems unlikely even though neither would push the $2.4-mill cushion under the cap that the Enquirer reported today. With Powell most likely out, that leaves 3 DTs and 3 DEs.LB is looking lean too. Miller might be limited or out this week and apparently L Johnson is also banged up. If 1 of those 2 can't go, that leaves 4LBs.Since it looks like the money is there, it's sounding like the plug and play guys do make more sense -- Steele and Ross.Gotta wonder if either is tired of getting jerked around, though. And it's already Wednesday
