Oddly enough, these are exactly the two positions were we begging for in the UDFA signing period immediately following LAST YEARS draft

Despite that, we did not sign a TE who made the team, and the Ss that did stick were either converted to corner (Body) or were on the practice squad all year (H-D Jones)

The only good player who came to us knowing he'd earn his best chance to play in the NFL due to thn-ness at his position was Wilkerson. We saw no other quality free agents - and no, I'm not talking about Shazor, who I never liked

Except with Schobel gone and Dexter signed, the situation isn't exactly the same as it was last year, is it?

Nope, it's much the same as last year - we had needs at TE and S after the 2005 draft as well

But I have already explained that at least twice today

aye they'll flock to crappy teams where they have a better chance making the team inless mybe team trys and recruits them then they'll come but :P i think 49ers,titans,texans will be the type teams UDFA's will flock too titans had what 36? last year that visited

The Colts are renowned for bringing in massive numbers of UDFAs

But I have already explained that at least twice today

And we thank you for that.

My point is that last off-season we had Schobel, Kelly and Stewart. This year, we only have Kelly and Stewart. I think that's a significant difference.

There's a difference between "having a need" and "needing a starter".

Wlkerson came here cause w offered him an unheard of UDFA $20,000 signing bonus.

Oh yes, please, more WRs.

Let's field a team of all WRs

Jeezus

na I say we sign 4 dt's for the line and 7 wr's that can just fly to the ball.

they just line up on D how ever they fee like it, create massive confusion for the qb.

Garunteed to work.

Korey Dickerson just dropped a pass for the Hamburg Sea Devils. How appropriate.

Some "expert" on the NFL Network said this was the "Year of the Tight End" for all the TE's that got drafted. That may mean that somebody's going to be out of a job soon. I'm still having Ohalete nightmares, but maybe we'll pick up somebody decent off the waiver wire.

I just can't believe Nance wasn't taken. He reminds me of Plaxico Burress.

I'd like to see the Bengals land Charlie Peprah (unless he was drafted) and Anthony Nix. I don't care who else they get, but I think those two could contribute to the team.

A media outlet also said Eastern Washington quarterback Erik Meyer, the Walter Payton Award winner, signed a similar deal and will probably be the only quarterback in the May 12-14 rookie minicamp.

WHAT!? Hang on a second...............

:excited: WOOOOOOO!!!

This kid will end up being something special. I've been really high on him since I first read his press releases.

Like it mentions there, Meyer won the Payton Award (like the Heisman for Division I-AA players) last season. He threw for 3,616 yards, 26 touchdowns and only five interceptions and finished his career with a 166.47 passer rating - a 1-AA record.

Supposedly he has an absolute cannon and judging by his baseball background, he's quite athletic....kind of like a Drew Henson before he forgot how to play. This kid could turn into a prime time backup for Carson in the next few years, gentlemen. We may have found our own version of Matt Schaub. Here's his breakdown:

Strengths:

A very accurate passer...Has a tremendous arm...Smart player who is always in control of the offense...Makes very few mistakes...Can move a little and avoid pressure...Is a good natural athlete...Sees the field and can read a defense well...A gamer who has that extra something that is hard to define...Tremendous player at his level of competition and was extremely productive...Top intangibles.

Weaknesses:

Has not played against the type of elite athletes and talent he will see at the next level so the jump will be a major culture shock for him...Will try to do too much and take too many chances...Doesn't have great size...Speed is only average although he plays faster with the pads on...Mechanics need refining.

Notes:

Also an excellent baseball player who was drafted by both the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants...One of the top sleeper prospects in the draft and a guy who at the very least should be brought in as a developmental signal caller.

So let me repeat myself: :excited:

:)

Anyway, for the rest of the free agents, I'd love for them to bring in Darrell Hunter (CB) & Martin Nance (WR) from Miami University, Spencer Havner (OLB) from UCLA, Greg Threat (S) * Quadrine Hill (FB) from Miami, & DonTrell Moore (RB) from New Mexico.

EDIT:

Nance went to Buffalo....Hunter went to Arizona. WTF, Bengals? How do you not land either of the two Redhawks?
