oldschooler Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Bengals won't put WR Johnson on the blockBy Chick LudwigDayton Daily NewsBengals head coach Marvin Lewis wants more leadership from his players, especially receiver Chad Johnson. The three-time Pro Bowl player is a magnificent talent, but he creates headaches and distractions for his coaches and teammates with his trash-talking and end-zone celebrations.Lewis and Johnson have denied they had a physical altercation in the locker room at halftime of the Bengals' 31-17 playoff loss to Pittsburgh. But this much is clear: There was a commotion. Johnson was frustrated, but he needs to keep his emotions in check.Speculation has surfaced that the Bengals would consider trading Johnson, but those rumors border on the absurd. With teammate Chris Henry facing a fine and suspension after two arrests, dealing Johnson to another club is out of the question.Browns updateTight end Kellen Winslow and wide receiver Braylon Edwards remain on the road to recovery.Winslow is bigger and stronger than he was before his devastating motorcycle crash. He had surgery June 14 to repair a torn right ACL. He also suffered a chip fracture of his right femur, which has healed. A staph infection in his right leg which he battled for six weeks, causing him to lose 29 pounds from his playing weight of 254 has cleared up.The Browns hope Winslow will be ready by training camp in July.Edwards tore his right ACL in the fourth quarter of a 20-14 loss to Jacksonville on Dec. 4, a game in which he had five catches for 86 yards and two TDs. He's expected to return around Oct. 1, but the club is optimistic about Edwards being ready for the opener.Super goatThe goat of Super Bowl XL was Seahawks punter Tom Rouen (rhymes with ruin). His six punts were pitiful. Four from Seattle's 43-, 49- and 48-yard lines, and Pittsburgh's 47 sailed into the end zone. The others were returned by Antwaan Randle El for 20 and 12 yards.Rouen cost Seattle 112 "hidden" yards. In the immortal words of Brooks Hatlen (James Whitmore) in Shawshank Redemption, "Ain't that a kick in the head?"Quick hitters Art Shell's first order of business as Oakland Raiders head coach will likely be to kick QB Kerry Collins to the curb.Don't be surprised if Collins surfaces in Baltimore. His former coach with the New York Giants, Jim Fassell, a Ravens assistant, loves him. After all, they went to the Super Bowl together (2000 season). A QB controversy featuring Collins and Kyle Boller would be fun to watch. Look for the Pittsburgh Steelers to re-sign Charlie Batch as their backup QB and release Tommy Maddox, whose $1.1 million salary is too big a cap burden for the club to absorb for a washed-up third stringer. The Ravens are trying to work out a long-term deal with SS Ed Reed, who has one year remaining on a contract that will pay him $2.15 million this year Quote
AMC Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Well that just restates the obvious on possibly trading CJ....laughable... Quote

Whur CHad At? Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Ok. We will never, ever trade Johnson. This is pointless, stupid and annoying.Chuck is just doing this to create some hype, since it is real dead right now. Or he might have really nothing to talk about, so he makes up stupid rumors. HairOnFire Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 When was trading Chad ever a "rumor" officially? Officially? Never, but wasn't Chick one of those who lost his head after the training room fight that wasn't? Quote
