ttilt Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 the biggest question mark in this is kitna but besides him who will be testing the free agency waters? Quote
Stripes Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I think we will keep both Kelly Washington and Kevin Walter honestly. Of all our free agents, the most likely losses as I see it are Marcus Wilkins, Matt Schobel, Tony Stewart, Nate Webster, Carl Powell, Ifeanyi Ohalete, and maybe Jon Kitna. Quote
Kazkal Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I think the most 2 importent players we need keep would be JJ and smith(or does his contract end year after?)KW I'm sure will get tender and would like see walter & schobel kept too (both for low price acourse) Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I think we will keep both Kelly Washington and Kevin Walter honestly. Of all our free agents, the most likely losses as I see it are Marcus Wilkins, Matt Schobel, Tony Stewart, Nate Webster, Carl Powell, Ifeanyi Ohalete, and maybe Jon Kitna.Pretty much sums it up, in other words, no one to lose any sleep over.KW's problem is he doesn't have the speed/quickness Marvin is in love with - and is basically a poor man's TJ at this point still. So it's hard to tell what they will do with him. I'm guessing that along with Sam, they'll be looking at a speedy WR. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 We need to keep Ohalete IMO..... :-D Quote
Stripes Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 We need to keep Ohalete IMO..... :-D Actually... I don't see that as a terrible idea. If we end up losing Wilkins, I'd bet that Ohalete would be a very good special teamer (unless he wants to test the market to get a starting job ). Still, that'd throw off the balance of LBs and DBs on the roster, so maybe not. Quote
turningpoint Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I bet Marcus wilkins returns. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 In my opinion, the guys we need to keep are Kevin W, Nate Webster (at a backup's pay), and Kitna. Quote
schweinhart Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Of the Bengals 12 unrestricted free agents, only 2 are worth re-signing, Jon Kitna and Kenny Watson.Of the restricted free agents, JJ, Kooistra, and Walter are worth the minimum tender and no other teams will bid higher.A 3rd round pick in this year's draft is worth more than K-Dub. If the Bengals stake the minimum tender for him, hopefully some other team gives him an offer sheet in exchange for the 3rd round pick.Time for the Bengals to dump a bunch of dead weight. Quote
kingwilly Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 What they should do.UFA's - I think Watson, Wilkins, Navies and maybe Luchey would get re-signed.RFA's - I see all of them coming back....despite this being a weak WR class, teams may realize that Washington is a #3 at best and plays no special teams...not worth a 3rd rounder for most...I'd rather keep him soley based on his familiarity of the O.I'm sensing a churn of players also. It will be year 4 of the ML era and he will be forced to make some decisions about overall direction. Contracts will be coming up, another draft class, and the clear exceleence of the O and utterly poor play of the D after week 6 will weigh heavy. Now, what they will proably do.UFA's - Sign Kitna, Watson, Schoebel, bauman, Mitchell and Powell. Brat will want his guys, Marvin will want his. Famailiarity and continuity prevail.RFA's - Keep JJ and Walter. Kooistra and Wash go bye-bye.FA's - Maybe 1 or 2 guys on D. Maybe a LB and DT. Prolly no new O FA's will get grabbed. The rationale is that these are players the coaches know (both their strengths and weakensses) and are pretty cheap. Keep in mind that Mike Brown still owns the team/ Quote
Tasher Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Are we revisiting the GM Thread?Kitna - likely goneKooistra - depth and experience building on OL, will be resignedLarson - may not be resigned but will have heavy competition in camp and could get released anywayLuchey - likely not resigned if Watson is healthyMitchell - likely resigned for depth and special teamsNavies - not resignedOhalete - not resignedPowell - tough one here to call, I think that he might not be resigned by the Bengals due to his solo act in the off-season program, but we'll seeSchobel - I really feel that he will be resigned, which will be a huge surpriseStewart - not resignedWalter - resignedWashington - will get offer sheet, may be gone so we get comp pick, either way it is a good situationWatson - if healty will be resignedWebster - team will want to keep him I suspect, but he is listed as one of the top backers in UFA, so he may get severely overpaid on the FA market and will go where he can start. We could be surprised by him deciding to stay to get another ring, thoughWilkins - resignedFWIW, IMHO Quote
Kazkal Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 what happened to that cfl kicker Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Guys, neither Watson nor Luchey are likely to be resigned with the way Rudi and Chris played. We'll pick a scrub 3rd RB on day 2. Quote

HairOnFire Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 what happened to that cfl kickerHe signed with the Packers. Are you sure about that? He wasn't scheduled to become a CFL free agent until Feb.15th. The last I heard is that he had worked out for the Packers and the Bengals and had received contract offers from both teams....which he couldn't sign until becoming a free agent. Quote
