WretchedOne
While researching this player I found some pretty interesting stuff.Henderson over his career in college has put these numbers:59.5 TFLs, 25 Sacks, 175 TTs, 7 FFs and 8 PDsWith those stats Henderson become the Georgia Tech all time leader in TFLs and #4 at Georgia Tech with 25 sacks.Marco Coleman, who was a top ten draft pick in 1992 had 50 TFLs and 27.5 sacks.But...Henderson only played in 9 games in 2004 and 7 in 2005, so he's missing a bunch of time that he could have improved his stats even more. He's really missing about an entire season if you combine all the games he missed. If you average out his stats he makes 44 TTs/season, 15 TFLs/season and 6 sacks/season.If you add those numbers to his current totals you come away with stats like this:1. 74.5 TFLs - would lead in the TFL category at GT by 17.5 TFLs, and would have a whopping 24.5 more TFL than Marco Coleman2. 31 Sacks - That would be enough to tie the GT record and is 3.5 more sacks than Marco Coleman.3. 219 Total Tackles.36% of time this player makes a Tackle for Loss. How impressive is this player now? Stripes
He does certainly look like he'll be a solid player. I want to know where those stats were compiled... Being at Georgia Tech, he was in a usually tough ACC, so the competition shouldn't be an issue. That is unless he had his big games against the scrub teams early in his schedules. He is a tackle, not an end, correct? If so, then the sack total isn't really a stat I pay as much attention to, so his six per season according to your stats is acceptable. I'd rather we pursue a bigger guy than Henderson at 265 lbs if we pursue the position in the first round, but if we can land Henderson in the 3rd round or so, I'd say it'd be a great pickup. WretchedOne
Uhh..Henderson is a DE...Coleman was as well.I thought mentioning Coleman would kind of define what Henderson's position was.I got all his stats from his player page on GTs website. Stripes
I stand corrected. I am certainly not a draft guru by any means. In this case, he is a more attractive prospect in my book. DE is fast rising my priority list, and because I expect Hali and Kiwanuka to both be gone when we pick in the first, this would be a solid pick in their stead. NJ29
Yo! The wrap that I have heard on him is that he is a little undersized. Being an undersized player myself, I will never completely ignore a guy for that reason alone. He certainly worth a shot in my book.
WretchedOne
I don't really see the "undersized" crap working with Henderson.Justin Smith is currently 6-4 265.Henderson is currently 6-3 265.Thats a weak argument "pundits" have against Henderson. His intelligence and physical strengh more than make up for the INCH in height he's missing. schweinhart
Henderson has a good variety of moves pass rushing and pursues the run well backside, off contain, and into the interior. He does not have great size or speed and has diminished his stock because of injuries for the last 2 years that forced him to miss games in each season. In 2005, Henderson squared off against LTs Marcus McNeil, D'Brick Ferguson, and Eric Winston. He consistently challenged all three but fared the best vs. McNeil, who he made look foolish at times. His match-up with Ferguson was his first after missing games with a right ankle sprain and he looked very winded in the 2nd half, but still consisently brought decent pressure vs. Ferguson. Winston handled him the best of all 3 IMO but he still made Winston work hard to keep him out of the backfield and pocket.Henderson looks like he's late Day 1 or early Day 2. Personally, I like Stanley McClover and Jeremy Mincey better as 3rd and 4th round DE prospects because both have better short area quickness and twitch off the snap. Still, Henderson is a solid DE...when he's on the field.
