Pete Rose Interview

I found this to be a good read. It may just be more of the same though.

Bensinger: Since the publication of your book, "My Prison Without Bars," and your admission that you bet on baseball, the possibility of baseball lifting your ban seems to have diminished.

Rose: I don't think the book had anything to do with that, if you want to know the truth. Because probably a year before the book came out, I talked to Bud Selig and told him everything I did. So when Bud Selig read my book -- if he did -- it wasn't something that he didn't know. ... But I remember when I had my first discussion with Bud Selig, I thanked him for giving me an opportunity to take this load off my shoulders. And, I said, "If you want to have a press conference tomorrow or next week or next month, I'll tell the world the same thing I told you." He said, "That's not necessary. You told the right guy." ...

What kills me about the whole Pete Rose deal and what makes it weird....

You walk into the main gate at GABP and Pete is not on the Big Red Machine mural....I mean COME ON!!!!!!!!!

What a bunch of crap....

And a few years there, someone at Lytle Place Apts put up a banner for every home game with Pete's number on it....Adding to the "retired numbers"....

Don't get me wrong, I met Pete and he is a Grade-A a$$hole but MLB has taken this a bit far IMO....

Post Note: Pete Jr is also an a$$hole....I played him in baseball for three years when he was at Oak Hills.....But anyway!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed.

Honestly, I find this entire scenario to be very juvenile. Who cares what Rose's motives were when he wrote the book? He did exactly what everyone told him to do, and he hasn't gotten a damned thing out of it. Major League Baseball needs to grow up.

"You lied to me about doing a bad deed and even though you've apologized I'm still not gonna be your friend no more!"

Pete Rose and his accomplishments as a player deserve to be in the Hall Of Fame. What he did (which is bet on his team to win every time!!) caused the game of baseball no harm what so ever, which is more than I can say about Mark Maguire, Barry Bonds, or any of the other 'Roids driven stars of today!

Until Pete Rose is reinstated, baseball will remain dead to me. F**k em. F**k that piece of s**t Selig too!
