Spain
After all this talk about the incident , and rumors from eroneous sites. I remembered when we had a chance to trade Dillon for a good package of picks and we didnt do it. Next year we got a second rounder. I know CJ isnt getting traded, but what I pose to you is a what if? He does have Rosenhaus as an agent. We would get a handsome price. Does anyone remeber the Herschel Walker Deal. That made a dynasty. So if you asked me to trade CJ for a 1 2 3, I would. The Team is above any player. We would also get cap Space and could keep Washington and move Henry up. Stripes
If we were offered three first day picks for any player other than Carson Palmer, it'd be very difficult to deny. While Chad's impact on this team might be big, that impact will probably take a dip while the other receivers around him get better. Yes, I would take that trade, assuming there is no contractual conflict. Also, I would obviously NOT take that trade with any division competitors, and I'd have to give it some thought going to any other AFC teams as well. The prospect of going into the month of the draft with six first day picks should make any executives drool.

Spain
Hey TDB, what do you think his worth is on the merket? Just for s**ts.
Stripes
Hey TDB, what do you think his worth is on the merket? Just for s**ts. I'm not overly knowlegeable on this sort of thing. If Dillon was able to get us a second rounder, I'd imagine Chad would go for maybe a second and a third. I bet some of the offseason gurus around here would be better able to answer this question. Tasher
you gotta remember that CJ makes every other receiver on the field better, so take hmi away, does Henry make everybody else as good as or better than with CJ on the field? Henry caught all his balls this year as the third receiver with CJ and TJ on the field, so the rook wasn't getting the attention from the best CB/S combo and if the best CB could single him where no CB in the leage can single CJ? That is a BIG gamble. It would have to be multiple 1st round picks over 2 years along with a couple of 2s/3s to go along with it.I do not see it happening, besides, think of the uproar from Carson, the fans, the city?Do you want to incite BengalsOwn to get even more graphic with is graphic? ArmyBengal
Not a chance... He would have to give the team multiple firsts for me to be even close to comfortable and only of he went to the NFC during a year when the draft was heavy in WR's. WHODEY !!!
Spain
Yeah a couple of firstrs would seem right to me. Or maybe a first and two seconds. Thats what I figured. However I will itterate the fact that this was just my curiosity.
Stripes
Sounds like Chad is worth more than I'd have thought. If getting multiple firsts would really be a plausible possiblity in any scenario, then I retract my previous post. How much did the Vikings get for Moss? The 7th overall pick and Napoleon Harris (along with some other scrubs) if I remember correctly. I doubt Chad would attract that big of a bargain, but y'all would know better than TDB. kingwilly
Would you trade him? No, I would not.The question on the table should be "What is Chad Johnson's trade value?"His trade value would be, to me:2007 1st rounder-and-two of the following:-young star OT (someone like a Levi Jones)-young star CB/S (someone like a DeAngelo Hall/Roy Williams)-young star LB (someone like a Vilma)-young star TE (Gates)-proven D lineman (like Shaun Rogers/Stroud)orStraight up for (Value only, not that we'd want/need them):Tomlinson Steve Smith (+ maybe a pick)Larry Johnson

Stripes
This is the worst thread ever started....EVER. Why the hell does everyone want to get rid of CJ!?!?effing roaches Nobody wants to get rid of CJ. Spain brought this idea into question out of simple curiosity. It isn't like there are other threads buzzing at the moment laden with football geniuses untold. Read Spain's first post closely, and you'll understand his intentions behind starting this thread. Whur CHad At?
Sorry...the thought of getting rid of CJ feels like a roundhouse kick to the face from Chuck Norris.MY B. Evrytime I see this I just get mad.
andybren
Do you guys understand the term hypothetical? There's hypothetical and there's once in a lifetime. You mention the Herschel Walker deal as if only one team participated. Yes, it made Dallas a dynasty. But it also screwed the Vikings for years. You'd have to wait a few more generations (or find a mentally retarded owner/GM) before a deal like that would happen again. The only other alternative would be something like the Clinton Portis-Champ Bailey deal.So hypothetically what team out there has a big enough need, and a big enough surplus elsewhere, to make this deal happen? And if this post sounds familiar, it's probably because some form of it gets repeated everytime Spain goes on one of his "psychotic fire-sale" benders. derekshank
You don't just cavalierly break up one of the NFL's best QB/WR combos. I don't care what you get in return... you can't manufacture that kind of chemistry. The "Chad incident" was overblown. Marvin said there was a heated argument... but nothing physical. This kind of thing happens all the time. Chad gives this offense a lot of the swagger and confidence it has, because that is his personality. He is more valuable that just a top 5 WR. His energy effects the whole team... not to mention his video game like production on the field. So "hypothetically"... NO!

Jet23
I think everyone agrees that they would not trade CJ. As far as value. I doubt that any team would give up much more than a 1st & 4th rounder for any receiver.
walshfan
for one thing, there isnt many trades in football.secondly why would you trade the best skilled player on the offense?jesus... why dont we trade marvin for Dennis Green? I WOULDN'T TRADE CHAD FOR ANY AMOUNT OF $$$$$, OR PICKS.AND I HAPPEN TO THINK HIS GOLD GRILLE BRINGS A BRILLIANCE TO THE GAME.IF SOMEONE COULD ADD GOLD LAMINATE TO MY TIGERS TEETH IN MY SIG.....I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
