BengalNation1281 Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I started thinking about this at work the other day (while I was getting things done...yeah, that's it), and I am not even sure who is on the market at this point, but who would you want the Bengals to go after? Your thoughts... Quote
BengalNation1281 Posted January 13, 2006 Author Report Posted January 13, 2006 David Klingler!Yes, Klingler is the answer. Quote
kayaker0678 Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 If in a perfect world Mat Schub or even billy Volek Quote
skyline Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 If in a perfect world Mat Schub or even billy Volek No chance on Volek. He wants to start. He's been trying to get out of TN for a while now, and he'll be gone as soon as he finds a starting job somewhere. Quote
BengalNation1281 Posted January 13, 2006 Author Report Posted January 13, 2006 My first thought was Billy Volek, since he will no longer be needed in Tennessee. Schaub is still under contract with the Dirty Birds, though he would be worth it if we could get him. And, though it might sound crazy, I also threw Josh McCown onto my list. Quote
skyline Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I like the idea of Tim Couch quite a bit. Quote
BengalsOwn Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 My list in order would have to be:WarnerMccownMartin Quote
kingwilly Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Aaron Brooks. He is out at NO, and would probably play for Kitna's money. I have a hard time thinking that any NFL team (other than Miami) wants him as a starter, those who have desperate need will go after one in the draft. Plus with Rivers, Warner, McCown, Couch and Volek out there he may not get as much attention as the FA's who are ready now, since Brooks won't be cut till March. Quote
GROIIIDayton Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Tim Couch could be pretty good in this offense I believe. If not Akili Smith will do...lol Quote
DontPushMe Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Another name to throw out there is Patrick Ramsey. I dont think hes starter material, and with them drafting Jason Campbell (i think thats his name) its obvious that Ramsey isnt in their future plans. Ramsey has a strong arm and could be a good fill in for Carson if palmer needs time off. Quote
walshfan Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Are half of you guys losing your minds?? Your picking starting QB that wont want to come here and play for a few games and then hold a clipboard!!!! Ramsey? Carter? get real ...We are talking about a backup....someone that doesnt mind riding the pine after afew games...damn Quote
kingwilly Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Hadn't considered Ramsey...he is done in WAS, he has a much better arm than Kitna and may do well with a stellar WR corp that the bengals have....good one.1. Brooks - he will be cut...won;t get starter money...finsih career as back-up.2. Ramsey - K-Wash for Ramsey trade?3. McCown - good upside, most losses were not his fault, that is what no run game and bad D will get you.my top 3 wish list for back-up, if Kitna bolts.I think Harrington is on the verge of confirming bust. Wherever he goes, will be his last shot. Quote
walshfan Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 joey harrington anybodyjesus....lets just sign Manning if we can....no clue no clue no clue Quote

LB51 Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I would really like to have Matt Schaub. That guy showed some really nice poise while standing in for Mr. Over-rated (Mike Vick) in the ATL. He's still under contract with The birds until 07, but they've got some payroll issues. It wouldn't surprise me to see some sort of a deal go down for him. Quote
kingwilly Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I've hear Griese's intelligence described as somewhere between a mineral and a vegetable.Damon Huard is another name I'd not given a second look. I think what is key to the Bengals QB back-up is arm-strength, experience and enough brains to run a subset of the regualr playbook. Mobility would be nice and a veteran level guy with playoff experience would be very desirable. Some may say that equals Kurt Warner...to them I say that Warner is now too old. Maybe the Warner who went to the Giants to begin the 2004 season but not the curretn re-tread version who is injury and interception prone. Quote

Not that this is the answer, but what happened to Casey Bramlett? Quote
BengalsOwn Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Apparently 1360 said taht the bengals are targeting matt schaub...Don't know though... Quote
