dchyde Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Okay. Just a theory here. We've all heard rumors that Chad's going to pull a Terrell Owens this year and hold out for more money. I say after all of this negative publicity, that's not going to happen. Chad has spent the past three years building his brand name. Think about. How often last year did you hear announcers say, "Chad Johnson, he talks trash, but it's all done in the spirit of fun. He's brash, but he backs it up with his play on the field." That was like the two-sentence take on Chad and it was solidifying big time among all the announcers and players. That's a good public persona to have, especially when you're hunting for endorsements and maybe something in Hollywood later on when your football-playing days are over. The fact that Chad held that press conference yesterday so quickly indicates to me that public relations is priority one with this guy. He's not going to kick up a fuss with Rosenhaus in the offseason. He does not need this new "Chad is an immature, "me" guy that's coddled by the coaching staff" thing to stick. He needs to get back to the "Chad is an enthusiastic entertainer" public image pronto.Let's hope he does. Who wants their team in ProFootball talk on a daily basis anyway?peace, brothers...DR Quote
walshfan Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 the Bengals are not dealing with a mature player in Johnson. Its hard to say what 12-15 years old want nowadays... Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 The members of this forum are not dealing with a mature poster in walshfan. It's hard to say what a 12-15 year old wants nowadays.1. There was no Chad incident.2. Chad is 100% imbedded in Cincinnati by his choice. He has come out and said he was not going to hold out no matter what his agent says. Remember, Drew works for #85, #85 doesn't NOT work for Drew.3. Chad will probably fire Drew Rosenass in the off season and hire Palmer's agent who was able to get him a great contract under the radar, with no bulls**t.4. Chad isn't mature? Spending your off day at work, trying to get better is immature? Doing everything you can to build the spirits of your team, your fans, and your city is immature? Yeah, ok. Quote
bengalspride1219 Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 ya okay the fact thzat he says he will be together with palmer longer than peyton and harrison makes me sure he wont hold out Quote
Dan2330 Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 The great way the Eagles handled the whole TO mess will be a defying moment in the NFL in the coming years. I put this up there with the Maurice 'stick em up' Clarett junk about trying to get in the league early. This should send a message to not only the mouthy wide outs in the league but to all players that a contract is a contract and don't mess around with it halfway through it. Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 My hat's off to anybody that truly thinks they know what CJ is doing next. It would not surprise me if he tries to get his deal re-done this offseason. That said -- I would hardly label him at this point unless/until he actually does try soome of the TO contract crap. If nothing else, TO gave everybody (especially Rosenhaus clients) a warning about how it can all go wrong very quickly. I think it may be fairly true that CJ has acted immaturely AND that he works hard. Those traits can certainly co-exist. However, being immature and enthusiastic and all that isn't necessarily a bad thing if channeled properly. Hopefully that happens. I am certainly ready to believe that tempers flared at halftime on Sunday, but doubt we'll ever really know the particulars of it all. We'll just have to see how the CJ show plays out. If this offseason is anything like last year, we'll get to see almost as much of chad on nfl network as we saw of him during the season. Quote

HoosierCat Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 the Bengals are not dealing with a mature player in Johnson. Its hard to say what 12-15 years old want nowadays...Sadly, I think there's some truth to that. I love Chad but he does need to get over himself a little bit. I don't think he's T.O., or even Randy Moss. But he needs to decide whether he really wants to be one of the best WRs in NFL history...or just his cousin with a funnier act. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I love Chad. I hope he continues to be the way he is on and off the field. It is good for the team and the city. Let's face it, without him the Bengals would still be nothing. He brought us into the limelight, and makes people respect us. He is good man, he loves the fans which is something T.O. didn't love. I will support Chad with whatever he does, if he decides to hold out(which is he wont) I will support him. Quote

This summer at Georgetown, I saw Chad take off his helmet and throw it down the field, after he missed a pass. He was quickly calmed down by Hue Jackson, but I believe it sent a message that he could get by with it. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I am really tired of everyone dissing Chad. First of all, if he wasn't here we would suck. You know that. Why all the hate? Chad is not a "me" player. He tailgated with fans before the game last Sunday, do you see any other player doing that? NO. I really hope he holds out just to piss all of you Chad Haters(or Chad Bandwagoners) off. PLEASE HOLD OUT CHAD!!!! YOU DESERVE MORE MONEY, and YOU DESERVE TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR CAREER HERE. Quote

smith288 Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 1. There was no Chad incident. How the heck do you know? Because Chad says so? Chad's a good guy...has problems with temper that has been documented. Why is this so hard to believe? I agree the punch throwing might be stretching of truth but the idea that Chad snapped at halftime isnt as hard to believe.Your hero isnt perfect, time to move on. You can support the guy while admitting he has faults. Quote
