Dan2330 Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Got nothing wrong with showing team support by showing up in opposing teams stadium and cheering for your team- wearing a jersey or cheering for good plays is fine in my book- Got a big problem with fans 'cheering' when any player, opposing team or not, is laying on the field hurt. Group of A$$ hole Steeler fans in front of us at the stadium yesterday were actually cheering loudly when the cart came out for Carson. I mean this is the same team's fans that star quarterback is about one more good hit away from being done for the year. I used to give Steeler fans credit for showing support by traveling well for road games, but some of the crap they were doing yesterday has made me change that view- the stupid signs they brought, the 'Here We Go Steelers' chant heard over and over again at the bars downtown before the game and at the game, the 'We Dey' stuff... All of it drove me crazy enough that we got tickets for the Colts game just to watch them get blasted out of the RCA Dome.... oh wait, are they going to complain again about the Colts pumping in crowd noise? Couple of quick thoughts from the game:- Whose idea was the white towels? First of all they should of been orange to stick out better, and next time pass them out all over the place- seemed like hardly anyone had one- Not happy with the showing of Bengals fans in the stands... been too a lot of NFL playoff games and was thinking that the Jungle would be going crazy after 15 years of no playoffs, nice weather day, late kickoff, but crowd overall seemed lame before the game- 10 minutes left in the game and place clearing out- unreal- Pollack- finally! A nice bright spot for next year- Kitna, either got to resign him or get someone legit as backup just in case- Steelers- on the road to replacing the Browns at the big rival for the Bengals Quote
Dirk Funk Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Agreed on all fronts.-I will give the fans a pass this once... Not really sure we know how to handle success, honestly. We as fans need to learn from this expereince as well. No more screwing around. Keep the energy level up, regardless. Geez. People wonder why we are better on the road.-No towels please. How about cow-bells or something. Seems to be popular at local high school games. Somebody should write a letter to the Brown family to supply something of noice once, then get Lapp, the Jumbotron, etc. to support the idea-Pollack, stud. No doubt. He was so pumped.-I hope Kit stays, probably will have to overpay again though. On a side note I actually saw a Bengals fan being tazzerd. In a twisted way I though it was a little funny. Too bad it was a Bengals fan. Dumb s**t. Quote
bengals4ever Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Yeah... I was watching the game at a large sports bar just north of Dayton. After the long pass we are all celebrating. And then we hear all the squeeler fans cheering and going wild. We think... there must be a flag or something... focus back on the TV screen... See Palmer laying on the ground. I still did not understand why they were all cheering then I realized the team they pulled for... I do not fault Kimo... I do fault the fans for acting the way they did. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 We all knew this about the Steelers fans beforehand. Remember how they screamed about Odell's hit. Remember all the Tommy Maddox whining in the middle of the yearHowever, we've had some of our own fans that haven't exactly been respectful and classy the last couple of days.AndWe've come to find some nice, knowledgable steeler fans, as wellSo, don't worry about the fans. Be cordial and represent your city or team with prideAnd leave the Squeeler trolls to us mods, we'll take care of them Quote

HairOnFire Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 - Not happy with the showing of Bengals fans in the stands... been too a lot of NFL playoff games and was thinking that the Jungle would be going crazy after 15 years of no playoffs, nice weather day, late kickoff, but crowd overall seemed lame before the game I wasn't there, but you've got to be kidding me. The home crowd was loud enough to cause multiple false start penalties on the Steelers opening drive. It actually prompted the announcers to claim that PBS was just as loud as any domed stadium. Now factor in the the reality of watching Palmer suffer a major injury on the 2nd offensive play...effectively ending all hope of a Super Bowl victory. What were you expecting? Quote
cincyhokie Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 4 words guys.Karma is a bitch. It'll come, be patient. Quote

footballfan Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Got nothing wrong with showing team support by showing up in opposing teams stadium and cheering for your team- wearing a jersey or cheering for good plays is fine in my book- Got a big problem with fans 'cheering' when any player, opposing team or not, is laying on the field hurt. Group of A$$ hole Steeler fans in front of us at the stadium yesterday were actually cheering loudly when the cart came out for Carson. I mean this is the same team's fans that star quarterback is about one more good hit away from being done for the year. They are idiots. I cannot defend them. I also cannot defend many of the Bengals fans at PBS that cheered quite loudly when Quincy Morgan was injured and the training staff rushed onto the field. I guess the crowd was just responding to the minimal amount of Steeler fans cheering in the stadium? Not likely. Tell me you didn't cringe when you heard that happen. Or perhaps you joined in? I cheered when Carson was up and heading off the field safely, as I would with my own team's player. I was still villified for that by fans surrounding me. Couple of quick thoughts from the game:- Whose idea was the white towels? First of all they should of been orange to stick out better, and next time pass them out all over the place- seemed like hardly anyone had oneFor the record, good fans do not need to be given a promotional hand-out for the game. Get a towel and dye it orange man. Or invent them and sell them. Or buy orange towels and wave them. Also, if you need to have Public Service Announcements urging your fans not to sell their tickets to opposing teams fans, your fan base still has a ways to go. You guys had a great turnout Sunday, but you fans need a lot of work, which I will explain.- Not happy with the showing of Bengals fans in the stands... been too a lot of NFL playoff games and was thinking that the Jungle would be going crazy after 15 years of no playoffs, nice weather day, late kickoff, but crowd overall seemed lame before the gameYour fans were the best I had seen on the road. Loud, fired up, geared up and into the game. That said, once the Palmer injury occured, it all went south. The following is my summation from another post, quoted here for emphasis:I have traveled to Steeler games in New York, San Diego, Miami, Baltimore, Denver, Indianapolis, and even Cleveland. That said, I have NEVER seen fans behave as poorly as they did in Cincinnati. On no less than 20 occasions did I see fans throwing things. This goes from ice and peanuts all the way to full bottles of beer and water. At Steeler fans, onto the field and just into the air to hit whomever it landed on. This doesn't even count the numerous objects thrown in my direction. That is really bad, but can be overlooked, due to rookie fans, first time to the playoffs in 15 years, a heart breaking loss in the first round... The physical violence was another issue entirely. With 2 minutes left in the game, all hell started breaking loose. More things were being thrown. Bengals fans started pushing and shoving anyone. People were actively seeking out fights. I witnessed 2 in my section alone. Well, 1 was really a fight, with both parties jawing before punches were thrown. The other one was a Bengals fan tackling an unsuspecting Steeler fan, who was trying to keep things from escalating. They rolled down the steps, then the Bengals fan proceeded to pummel him until people attempted to break it up. Leaving the Stadium was worse. I had 2 beers thrown at me. There were people just laying into anyone with Black and Gold on. Putting shoulders into them, pushing them... Not even just men. I saw several women get shoved. More fights. This was the most abhorrent behavior I have ever witnessed at a sporting event. I expect to get jeered and booed. Fortunately, we had some Bengals fans around us that were decent people and understood that it was just a game. They also stuck up for us and made sure no one messed with us. I can honestly say, even with the large security presence, this is the first time I have ever seen so much violence and feared for my safety at any sporting event. I know what a great town you have, but I will certainly think twice before ever returning to it.- Steelers- on the road to replacing the Browns at the big rival for the BengalsI must say that this rivalry will certainly replace Cleveland's for me. But it is not based on the teams, it is based on the supreme amount of awful fans I saw at the game. I met some nice people around us, but not enough to make up for what I witnessed and experienced. I'm sure this dirty little secret won't be mentioned at all in your local media, but it should be addressed and you should be ashamed of your "great fans". Quote
membengal Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 You are an insane person if you think that doesn't happen at Steelers games to fans wearing Bengals geat etc. Please. And, here's the thing, PBS is no longer the Steelers' home away from home for your fanbase. Get over it. Quote
Jet23 Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Sam Wyche said it best 'you don't live in Cleveland, you live in Cincinnati!' Color me as one that was not proud of how our city reacted to adversity. Quote

Get over it.Exactly. PBS is no longer your "Heinz West" or whatever it is you all say. To the Steelers fans: Please, please tell me that if I'm a Cincinnati fan and I bring a TOWEL and a SIGN to YOUR stadium and we put BENNY POO out for the game that nobody is going to throw a beer at me??????????If the g-damn Steelers fans wouldn't ACT like they own ever g-damn stadium they come to with their arrogant f'in attitudes.....WHO THE f**k WOULD BRING A TOWEL TO AN OPPOSING TEAMS STADIUM????? I wouldn't. If I went to Heinz Field and did that my sign should already read "KICK MY ASS".GET BACK TO REALITY!!!!!! Quote
CT Stiller Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 You are an insane person if you think that doesn't happen at Steelers games to fans wearing Bengals geat etc. Please.I wasn't there, but if what he says is true, I've never seen anything like that. I've been to Steelers games in Buffalo, Tampa Bay and Giants Stadium (vs. the Jets). I've also seen the Jets play the Fins, Bills, Colts and Giants. I've been to Giants games against the Cowgirls and Eagles (I live in the NY metro area and frequently get free tickets). Never have I been to a game where this type of thing went on. You have the occasional fight between drunkards, but it's isolated and maybe happens two or three times during a game.I've always been respectful of the home team fans but of course you have a handful of moron Steelers fans acting up, mostly good natured stuff where the guys who have been going back and forth all game shake hands at the end. I've never experienced anything even remotley similar to what he's describing. I've also been to Pittsburgh several times to see games and, again, have never witnessed anything like that. I would expect behavior like this from Pats, Giants, Browns and Eagles fans, but Cincinnati fans? And, here's the thing, PBS is no longer the Steelers' home away from home for your fanbase. Get over it.I really don't think that justifies the fans for acting like that. Quote
CT Stiller Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 To the Steelers fans: Please, please tell me that if I'm a Cincinnati fan and I bring a TOWEL and a SIGN to YOUR stadium and we put BENNY POO out for the game that nobody is going to throw a beer at me??????????It might happen, it might not. I've never seen it personally, and I've seen some nasty games. He wasn't necessarily referring to people with signs waving towels, he specifically said they where throwing crap EVERYWHERE, and that (obviously) people wearing Steelers colors were getting targeted on the way out.If the g-damn Steelers fans wouldn't ACT like they own ever g-damn stadium they come to with their arrogant f'in attitudes.....WHO THE f**k WOULD BRING A TOWEL TO AN OPPOSING TEAMS STADIUM????? I wouldn't. If I went to Heinz Field and did that my sign should already read "KICK MY ASS".GET BACK TO REALITY!!!!!!HAHAHAHA, it's called a wide fanbase. I always wear my Steelers garb to opposing teams' stadiums and wave my towel. I had one guy talk crap to me when we beat the Bills in last year's season finale, but the guy just threw a comment at me, and I threw one back, and he turned away. There's no justification for this kind of behavior, don't even try it. Like I've said all along, the Steelers have some trashy fans but so does every other team in the league. It's just magnified when a team becomes successful. How many people can't stand Pats fans (I'm one of them)? I never noticed how bad they were until they beat us in the '96 playoffs. You should have seen the crap on the Steeler's message boards. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 There is NO WAY in the world I'm gonna take a lesson in gamesmanship from a Steelers fan. Even if you are a nice one. You guys have one of the best and WORST reputations in the league. Someone needs to bring Ox's Pitt/Minn thread where the fan's running around the stadium like an idiot.I've only been to one road game in my life, in Cleveland. Needless to say, I wound up with peanuts all over me. Quote

We both know it would happen. What a joke. Here's the gist. There are asses everywhere for every team. DO NOT, DO NOT ACT LIKE CINCINNATI HAS ANY WORSE FANBASE THAN ANY OTHER TEAM in that particular situation.I don't condone anything that happened from what I saw Sunday on both sides. I saw punches thrown...Steeler fans CHEERING Palmers injury. It's everywhere!!!!! Get over it!!!!! Quote
