ShulaSteakhouse Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Guys - it's a tough schedule - get over it, it happens. They'll just have to improve enough to get a winning record out of it and hope Palmer comes back in time. Quote
walzav29 Posted January 9, 2006 Author Report Posted January 9, 2006 You can't compare this years schedule to next years. It is how the NFL is setup. Playing a division winning schedule is tough. Look at San Diego! There is no way that they will have it as easy as they did this year. It doesn't matter, it's all about Palmer's injury. Quote
Stripes Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 The schedule doesn't look all that tough honestly. We still have some scrubs like Cleveland, Baltimore, New Orleans, Oakland, etc... Atlanta is a .500 football team in the NFC, so they don't scare me. Indy, New England, and San Diego all look menacing of course, but as the whole the schedule looks very passable for a playoff berth. Quote
derekshank Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 San DiegoAtlantaCarolinaPatriotsRaiders@Denver@KC@NO@Indy@TampaAnd our regular divisional opponents. We have Baby-Hands Kitna as our best option which is sad, and as long as the off-season feels it's only 6 months of healing time before the pre-season. Damn! Yeaaaaaa 2007!The other AFCN teams have to play most of these teams too. The real key is going to be when we play them. Palmer will probably not be back at the first part of the season, but since he isn't a Vick style QB, he may be back quicker than we all fear...Kitna... as bad as he played in the 2nd half, didn't just forget how to play football. He had us near the playoffs two years ago... so if he can keep us in games, and we shore up the defense, the season isn't over.We won't be getting any first round byes... but we will have every opportunity to win this division again. walzav29 Posted January 9, 2006 Author Report Posted January 9, 2006 I know that Marvin is sick to his stomach about his defense. I can't wait to see how he handles it. Quote

There is no such thing as a schedule that doesn't pit you against teams that can beat you. This is the NFL, not NCAA! Quote
CBin2k7 Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 The schedule is tough, but if we are a good football team (which should be better next year) we will adapt and overcome. forget about the NFC, we own them.8 straight wins Quote
walshfan Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Before the season started I thought the schedule looked pretty tough.Things change rapidly in the NFL due to salary cap cuts, draft, free agency and injuries during the season..We wont know how hard each game is until we come up against that particular team on that given week... jjakq27 Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 I know that Marvin is sick to his stomach about his defense. I can't wait to see how he handles it. Someone mentioned Dom Capers name last week. I wonder how Breshnehan is feeling right now? Marvin was on the Bengalsline show last year on the Monday after the last game and was asked point blank about coaching changes (ie: Leslie Frazier) and he said that none were planned. A day or so later he got rid of Frazier. I know the game was too fresh in everyone's mind but I can't see them standing pat with what they have. Quote

A really good coach can get a unit to overacheive... but he can't make a team of back-ups into a superbowl caliber unit.We don't have all the players yet. We need a safety, and another retooling of the D-Line (the last retooling didn't work out). We do not need to fire and hire a new D Coordinator every year though. The players know his system. To change it after only one season, without all the tools necessary is the height of insanity. Patience, is not one of the virtues of most NFL fans... but the great franchises have patience with their coaches. Quote
walshfan Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 They asked Bresnahan to take over and turd polish the defense..he did that... Now give him some better players and the polishing might start to shine... Quote

buck3y3d Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 They asked Bresnahan to take over and turd polish the defense..he did that... I think Frasier got a raw deal, but that doesn't mean Chuck should leave. Quote
rwalling Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Dude, lay off the KoolAid and step away from the ledge! My advice... Predraft and free agency we have no idea what next year holds. Quote
Green 66 Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 On the bright side, the injury forces Carson on the couch in front of his GIGANTIC big screen TV watching the other more established playoff teams. Now he can, if he wants, work on the game behind the game. We know his phyiscal gifts, now he can study film, watch the remaining playoff teams and have a stronger mental focus. There's always a bright side to everything...Wow i think this qualifies as the most intelligent post ever concerning the injury of palmer. I like this thinking better than the sky is falling stuff. Same token my brother 5 dislocations of the Knee Cap/ ACL tears in 3 years (not same injury but more severe, IMHO) was able to play soccer again as a D Midfielder (lots of cutting, running, and contact) in about 6 months after surgery, his doc is the same as Keshawn Johnson and Payton Manning here in Dayton. Great doc, maybe Palmer should call up Dr. Pele hes close, and treats NFL players...Mike GreenWaynesville Ohio Quote
Riagogogoindanati Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 REMEMBER.........IF YOU BLEW OUT YOUR KNEE 15 YEARS AGO............YOUR CAREER WAS OVER.THIS ISN'T THE CASE ANYMORE.......EVEN WITH AN ACL AND AN MCL @ THE SAME TIME. HE HAS THE BEST SURGEONS AND ALL WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF. I THINK BY HIM HAVING THAT BRACE ON DURING THE GAMES, HELPED TO DETER A MORE SIGNIFICANT INJURY. CARSON WILL BE SPENDING THE OFF-SEASON REHABBING AS WELL AS WATCHING FILM AND GETTING INTO THE NITTY GRITTY OF OUR PLAYBOOKS . THIS MAY BE A BLESSING IN DISGUISE.........ONCE HE CAN PUT TO USE ALL THE INFO HE LOOKS AT THIS POST SEASON AND WHEN HE STARTS TAKING HIS FIRST SNAPS NEXT PRE-SEASON................HE WILL BE UNCONQUERABLE. (IS THAT A WORD?) GIVE HIIM TIME AND SUPPORT GUYS.................HE WILL COME BACK BETTER........STRONGER..........FASTER.BIONIC MAN Quote
jamesbrooks21 Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 The tear of Carson's ACL is a clean tear. They will not need to transplant anything-just sew it up. If it was going to happen this is the best possible scenario. They said he will be up in about 5 months. Lets save the panic for late August because there is just so many things that could happen. Carson said he will be back by the beginning of August(of course) but until I see otherwise I am going to believe him.As for the schedule, it all evens out usually. People will get hurt and free agency, draft and all that stuff. It does look tough now but it won't end up being as brutal as some of you think. Especially not bad enough to start looking toward 2007. Quote
