Stripes
A lot of the bad teams this season have a lot of young talent, and could potentiall play well next year and sneak into the playoffs. Here's the one's that catch my eye.Arizona - A lot of people expected big things from this team this season. A lot of offensive talent and an improving defense looked to be just the recipe for success in a bad division. It didn't work out as expected, with the Cardinals finishing the season at 5-11. Still, they were the number one passing offense in the NFL in 2005 due to their NFL best duo of receivers in Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald. If they can get a solid running back or maybe land Leinart in the draft, they could contend next year.Cleveland - Much to our dismay as Bengals fans, it is hard to say that the Browns aren't improving under Romeo Crennel. They were solid on defense most of this season, except against the run. If they can get someone to shore up that front seven, and their young talent on offense (Frye, Edwards, and Winslow) stays healthy, then the Browns might contend for a wild card.New Orleans - I might take some flak for this one, but I see this as a talented football team. If they can land a better quarterback, then this has the potential to be a very good offense. Joe Horn, Deuce McAllister, and Donte Stallworth make up a solid trio of weapons for an offensive coordinator to have fun with. If their coach-to-be proves a good one, watch out for the Saints. Their downfall may again prove to be their hurricane ravaged schedule, so they may be a better pick for 2007.Philadelphia - This team isn't dead. It is still loaded with the same talent that took it far before Terrel Owens arrived. If McNabb, Westbrook, and the defense stays healthy next year, I expect the Eagles to soar once again in 2006.Any thoughts?
The_Next_Big_Thing
Didn't we say that Arizona would be a contender this year? Oh wait, they still suck. They will suck next year.New Orleans? Pulease. Joe Horn showed this year that he just didn't care. Deuce might as well become a male gigalo because he's not going to finish next season uninjured. Oh, and Brooks is an overated Jeff Blakelike hack. Their offensive line is in trouble, and they have no coach. Their owner doesn't want to stay in New Orleans, and he will have no luck getting free agents, draft picks, or coaches to come to the mistake in the bay.The only way the Browns contend for a wild card is if Baltimore continues to suck, Pittsburgh decides to lay an egg, and we decide we don't want to win any more.By the way, I don't think Philly is much of a surprise to be a winning team. The surprise was the damage one asshat named TO could do to a franchise.I don't envision many surprises at all next season to be honest. Stripes
I don't envision many surprises at all next season to be honest. Could be. Seems like every season, however, that when anyone predicts the final standings in the league, that they always look very similar to those from the year previous. jjb10588
Hey heres a new contender for you how about those Miami Dolphins who won there last 6 games with that quarterback Gus Frerotte and i would have to say easily one of the top 5 receivers in the NFL on one of the most up and coming teams Chris Chambers, and now they have those RB stars Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown i am going to be fearing them next year. TIMEsteelersfan
It's too early to tell I think... After the draft and free agency we'll have a better idea heading into camp.

Stripes
i hope the texans get decent i just feel so bad for them i mean they have great offensive players just absolutely no O-LineThe Texans are an intriguing case. Of course, they look like they will suck badly again in 2006, it is hard to say they'll improve much. Still, every year before this one they had been steadily improving all the way to a 7-9 campaign in 2004. We all know they have talent (and if Reggie Bush joins the mix, holy cow). Their biggest shortcoming is, as you said, the offensive line, but I'd have never imagined that such a problem as that could drag a team down to 2-14 so quickly. Whur CHad At?
As I look into my Crystal Ball...I see the biggest suprise in the Miami Dolphins. They will be in the playoffs next year.I also see Baltimore turning it around next year...hopefully not.NEXT year MVP= Larry Johnson with 2168 yards rushing and 30 TDSNEXT Madden Coverboy-Chad Johnson with all revolutionized WR controls and a Revolution Dance maker. CBin2k7
Just say no to Chad on the Madden cover, actually no Bengals on the Madden cover. The Madden curse struck again this year. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Miami in the playoffs next year, and I don't think it would surprise the critics. There weren't very many middle of the road teams this year. So I can't tell who is going to be a surprise.

jjb10588
i think Larry Johnson could possibly lead to the chiefs to the superbowl on his own every game he has played in hes broken 100yds and he has like 14 touchdowns in 8 games rediculous
AMC
Miami would not be a surprise next year...My surprise would be New Orleans. Deuce McAllister comes back, they get rid of Aaron Brooks. They will have more stability in Louisiana. That was not a 3-13 team to begin the year and will not be next year. Alot depends on the new coach and QB but I would expect New Orleans to give TB, and ATL runs for their money. But still be a step below CAR...
