PBS Struggles??

I don't understand why this team plays better on the road than at PBS. Is it just a lack of focus? I count all of 1 complete quality win (Minnesota), and 1 very tough loss where we played pretty well (Indy). Other than that we were slaughtered by Pittsburgh and lost to a Bills team that has struggled on offense to everyone not named Cincinnati. We also let the following Reggie Bush lottery teams hang around: Packers, Texans, Browns and nearly blew a huge lead to the Ravens.

Like it or not, the Bengals have a better shot of beating the Jags at home than Pittsburgh. That does not mean I am afraid of Pittsburgh, I am merely stating the obvious. If I had to handicap both games, the Bengals would be somewhere in the neighborhood of a 3 point favorite over the Jags, while a potential Pittsburgh game would be closer to a pick em. Throw in the fact that Byron should be rusty, and the Jags look far more attractive. We almost beat them at their place when they were playing their best ball and we had yet to realize that we were a playoff team.

No way would I play Palmer a single down. I certainly would not want them to lay down, but like HOF said, Kitna is capable of winning the game anyway.

The flip side of not playing well at home is playing great on the road. That may come in handy in the playoffs.

Agree, good post. I really think it is a lack of focus at home - you hear about this at times - teams on the road are confined to their rooms for a couple of nights beforehand - eat, sleep and live together, it's all football, and they know they are entering a tough situation, it's easier to stay focused before a game and there's not much else to do other than rest and study game plans.

I also think they are still in underdog motivation mode and it's hard to get up for bad teams at home when your fate is already decided, and everyone expects you to blow teams away (unrealistic).

Maybe Marv needs to change his home game habits - put 'em in a hotel or whatever, dunno. But the defense ecspecially seems to be lax at PBS for whatever reason.

I've noticed the "give up" mentality on defense again here too - as in years past - the good players feel their efforts are continually wasted because of the lousy support they get from other players - it's why Spikes left - no support due to a lack of talent around him. Make a 5 yard sack? Who cares, they'll convert a 3rd and 15 next down and you start all over again, because you got an owner skimping on FA's and draft picks in the d-backfield.

Any ways just bored this week @ work without much going on and felt like rambling.

So what did I say that was untrue? It's because you don't like to hear it? I laugh at Takeo for his decision - he looks kinda stupid, i've stated that in the past.

I said Takeo is better than anyone currently on our roster - if you can't accept the truth of the situation then that is not my problem. I responded to the poster's comments which I thought were off-base and stated why I thought so.

I hope Odell is a better player down the road - but right now he has quite a-ways to go and no one really knows if he'll be that good or not yet. Geesh.

ODELL IS A ROOKIE! Takeo Spikes is a proven all-pro linebacker, and you should know that. Would you say that Demarcus Ware and Shawn Merriman are going to be much better than Takeo Spikes? Both of those players have had better years than Odell Thurman.

I'm sure Odell will be good, but for god sakes, don't just go off and say something like that because Spikes left the team, I'm sure he had his reasons.

Merriman is a pass rusher,and mostly a DE.As is Demarcus Ware.I would think they would be much better defensive ends than Takeo,lmao.

BTW,Ware IS a DE...albeit a pass rushing LB(which equates to a DE).

He has seven sacks.The only category he surpasses Thurman in.
