Spain
I was wondering with the vets asking for a stiffer punishement of Henry. The Odell incident and the cutting of reggie myles. Do we have some young guys here that have being been lead astray. We had an earlier fight also. Could this be the vets are sick of their imature asses. They overlooked Bufalo thinking they could just chalk it up iin the win column. So Bengaldom am I oliver stone? Is my movie boring and unfactual. I was hoping so but we seem to be in some funk and this might be the reason.
bengalindian
Man, Spain, you need to get off that European crack/pot that you're on. You come up with the worst topics ever.
Spain
You can say what you want but when the vets called for for Henry to sit, Odell misses a start, and a ST ace sent packing says something to me. Then we have these mass let downs. some of these guys might need to pick up their profesionalism.
The_Next_Big_Thing
Spain, if you knew anything about football at all, you'd know this...PLAYERS GET SAT WHEN THEY SCREW UP! Odell missed a series for missing a team meeting or something like that. It wasn't a big freaking deal. Vets get this stuff too. In fact, Corey Dillon got it regularly even from sucky coaches like we had here before.A ST Ace?! got sent packing? A guy who wouldn't buy into Marvin and caused friction in the locker room was sent packing because he was expendable and we didn't want a TO in our locker room. bengalboomer7
Come on now, think about what Spain is saying. When we drafted both Henry and Thurman they were known to have "character issues" and that was one of the main reasons both players fell to us in the draft when they did. And some of the decisions these guys have made this year has reflected that.BUTThis is especially where Marvin comes in and does his job. Now, I'm not nearly ready to start calling these guys "turds" like a certain crazy rumor site, but I thik Spain is right in that this is something we might need to keep our eye on. With Myles gone, Henry deactivated for one game, and Odell not starting one, I'd say Marvin has done admirable so far
membengal
i DO have a problem with spain and anyone else repeating what profootballtalk said like it is any kind of credible source. Period. Spain keeps writing the vets TOLD ml to sit henry like that is the god's honest truth. I have not seen that anywhere but the profootballtalk yellow journalism rag. And I don't believe it for a second. ML does what ML wants to do, and does not act at any player's behest.
The_Next_Big_Thing
Not only that, but we really haven't seen any of the problems Odell was supposed to have. Off the field character issues my hiney. Odell stuck up for a guy in the locker room as a leader. He SHOULD be sticking up for his teamates in the locker room and putting an end to fights. We still don't know enough about what really happened to say it was anything more than Odell just putting an end to the altercation.
ShulaSteakhouse
Odell was late to a meeting - as the starting MLB and a rookie he needs to get his shi$ together and that is the chance you take with character flawed players. Odell seems to love playing football - but he also seems really immature at times and is apparently taking some of it for granted. I think he needs some competition to keep him focused until he matures.I do not understand the Myles decision and don't know what happened exactly or the reason for it ultimately. I DO know that not having him on ST's has hurt and the coverage teams of late have stunk up the place since he's been gone - yes he was that good in coverage.I tend to believe the vets were pretty pissed about Henry doing that - and said something to Marvin - ecspecially Willie who doesn't want some young punk screwing up his first winning season in his pro career. You can bet players said something about it - TJ didn't sound too happy about it on the radio after it happened either if you read between the lines. You all know very well how much the players who have been here want things to change and for that kind of crap to stop.Personally I think this team has reached it's "questionable character" limit and need to avoid those types in the future wherever possible. You can get away with it at times and it can make you look very good, but it can also come back to really bite you in the a$$ (Clemons suspension, Odell not taking his job seriously enough, Henry possibly missing up to 3-4 games next year, Chad's drops and antics, etc...,).Some of this is youth and a learning curve that is taking place, this team isn't quite there yet - Bengals' fans are understandably impatient - even Palmer has a ways to go and hasn't started 2 seasons worth of games yet. Gotta keep things in perspective and hope the right decisions are made in the off-season and that some of these rookies grow up and don't take their jobs for granted. The Bengals' are back on the map, the plan is to stay there.
Spain
Hello trolls and normal posters. These things happen,ut if your a vet on your first playyoff run your going to get pissed. Now if Myles was a bad influence on these guys then Marvin weeded him out. If he was getting high and Marvin was told , Then he would get the axe. The guy was good. Im starting to tink if we dont have a ring of stoners amongst our players as every team does. Tell me Kitna and guys like him are going to accept that. Do you remeber the article bengals.com had before the bye. The vets were warning the young guys about the bye week. That they wanted another. Well guess what we loss. I thinking some of these guys are going to have to face a reality bitch slap that you cant do that in the NFL. Also when this happened to Dillon , we were losing. At least the guy is making an attempt to learn and speak the language, unlike you who can't even spell Cincinnati, or correctly punctuate sentence.
