Wonder what Peter King is gonna say...we didn't beat them well enough?????

As usual, his MMQB column is a multiple-personality masterpiece. First, the Peter "Bengals Hater" King and Retep "Bengals Homer" Gnik factions get into a tussle while riding Indy's jock...

2. The Colts can be beaten by two teams in the AFC. New England and San Diego. Maybe Cincinnati, but the Bengals will have to slug it out with Peyton Manning toe-to-toe without turning it over and I don't like their chances.

Gnik gets us in there, but the King persona pushes to immediately knock the idea. Never mind that in our first game we had just 1 pick and no fumbles...

Maybe realizing how weak that argumenet is, the King persona tries to retain control for the rest of the column. They still sit at 7 on the "fine 15" ranking, despite being in the 3-5 range on everyone else's list. However, the King personality tho putting them at 7, can't stop the Gnik persona from adding a positive comment.

The Fine Fifteen

1. Indianapolis (13-1). Maybe I'm looking for reasons to question this team right now. But did you see Peyton Manning happy-footing it, looking uneasy with all that pressure? Pressure's the way to go against Manning, even though he handles it great some Sundays. He handled it poorly against San Diego.

2. New England (9-5). In the New England locker room after the 28-0 disrobing of the Bucs, Richard Seymour took one look at the AFC East Championship hat he'd just been given and said: "It's a nice hat. I will add it to the others.'' Leave some room for a few more, Richard.

3. Denver (11-3). The Broncos need, and I mean badly need, Darrent Williams to return by playoff time. I don't like Denver against Cincinnati, for instance, with a banged-up Champ Bailey and rookie Domonique Foxworth as the only keepers of the flame against Carson Palmer.

4. San Diego (9-5). One of the craziest seasons in recent history. The five losses are by 4, 3, 2, 3, and 2 points. The Chargers have won at New England and Indianapolis, probably the two best teams in football. They're 4-1 in trips to the Eastern Time Zone. It is patently absurd that they probably won't make the playoffs. But they have no one to blame but themselves after the home loss to Miami last week.

5. Seattle (12-2). I like Matt Hasselbeck's approach right now. When I asked him the other day about how his team is perceived, he said: "You know what? I don't care. That's the way I think I function best -- when I don't care what people think of us.'' Hasselbeck games this year: 14. Hasselbeck interceptions this year: nine.

6. New York Giants (10-4). How about that retooled offensive line? Giants lose their two starting tackles and still rush for 233.

7. Cincinnati (11-3). When Carson Palmer is protected, the Bengals can beat anyone.

Fnallly, clearly frustrated by how Gnik will simply not stop pumping the Bengals, the King personality dismisses their week 15 performance by slagging the Lions...a throwback to the old "they haven't played anyone" argument.

Can every Detroit Lion say this morning he actually tried very hard in the 41-17 loss to Cincinnati?

Yup, Bengals didn't win, Lions gave it away...

Peter King was on the Dan Patrick Show today, I don't remember what he said about yesterdays game. But, he said he does think the Bengals can make it to the Super Bowl. He said something like he wouldn't pick the Bengals to beat Indy in the playoffs, but he wouldn't be surprised if the Bengals won like 45-40.

Nope, he'll say the Lions look like the new Bungles and keep about how bad our past is just to say something negative.

Then, when we win the superbowl, he will say it was a fluke, and it took us 15 years to get there....

The only time I read his stuff is when it's posted here, but it seems like Carson Palmer is the latest in a long line of quarterbacks that "The Peter King" has developed a healthy man-crush on.

Don't get me wrong, Palmer deserves the respect, but I've always felt that whatever interest Peter King has in the game of football is entirely limited to the QB position.

There will always be those excuses popping up in "expert" (it is becoming immoral to type that without the quotation marks) articles as to why the Bengals or any other up and coming team aren't as good as they appear. Come playoff time, we'll have our opportunity to prove them wrong, and it will be a good time.

Peter King's Christmas List

1) All the Patriots at my home to tuck me in

2) Tom Brady coming down my chimney

3) Bill Belichick under the mistletoe

4) A gift certificate to an unnamed overpriced coffee whore company

5) A jar of vasoline
