Records broken by Bengals in '05

By the Dayton Daily News

• The Bengals (11-5) reached the playoffs for the first time in 15 years with their first division title (AFC North) and first winning record since 1990. The Arizona Cardinals now have the league's longest current playoff drought (seven years). They last reached the postseason in 1998.

• The Bengals were the only NFL team with at least 30 interceptions (they snared 31 picks).

• The Bengals (27) and Indianapolis Colts (35) scored 62 points in the first half of their Nov. 20 game (a 45-37 Colts victory). It was the second highest first-half point total in NFL history (70, Nov. 17, 1985, Tampa Bay at N.Y. Jets).

• QB Carson Palmer set single-season team records for passing TDs (a league-high 32), completions (345) and passer rating (101.1). He tied the NFL marks for most consecutive games with a 100 passer rating (Peyton Manning, 9) and most games with a 100 rating in a season (11).

• WR Chad Johnson led the AFC in catches (97) and receiving yards (a club-record 1,432). It was his third straight AFC receiving yards crown and first AFC receptions title.

• Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh (78 catches, 956 yards) set team records for most receptions (175) and receiving yards (2,388) by a duo.

• TB Rudi Johnson rushed for a club-record 1,458 yards, breaking the mark of 1,454 he set in 2004.

• CB Deltha O'Neal intercepted a team-record 10 passes. He's the first Bengal to lead or share the NFL lead in interceptions. O'Neal shared league-high honors with the Jets' Ty Law.

• PK Shayne Graham broke his own Bengals record for single-season points (131).

• MLB Odell Thurman led all NFL rookies with five interceptions.

• The Bengals (6-2) tied the record for best road mark in club history (1981).

• The Bengals allowed 21 sacks, the fewest in club history.

And besides the D-Line (WHO FREAKIN DESERVE IT) we still find something to b*tch about. I for one say good job to the players, the coaching staff (Marvin is the best), and the one I would have rather seen hit by a bus two years ago... Mike Brown. Great year that ended to soon and on the wrong note. Congratulations to all involved, here's to a great 2006 season !!!

WHODEY !!!
