indybengalsfan72
Here is the schedule rotation for the Bengals in 2006 HOMEOaklandSan DiegoAtlantaCarolinaAFC East AWAYDenverKansas CityNew OrleansTampa BayAFC South It looks like there will be a trip to Indianapolis, as they will be the AFC South rep, since they clinched the division, and it also looks like New England will be coming here to play as the AFC East rep. Hopefully, we can get 3 MNF games(as long as those clowns on ESPN are not announcing the game, since they have MNF footbal, but who knows...Sunday night on NBC might be bigger than MNF, especially with Madden), as I can see the Colts game being a definite matchup, as well as either Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Carolina, New England, Denver, and Kansas City as other potential matchups. derekshank
Looks like a much more difficult schedule than this year... but it should be pretty competitive. SD, Atl, Car, Den, KC, Ind, Jax, TB and Pit are all potential prime-time games. That is 10 games against teams with winning records this year. OUCH! At least we'll be battle tested. walzav29
Next year the Bengals will have an official "target" on their backs. It's going to be tough, but it beats the alternative.

It's going to be tough, but it beats the alternative.I'm happy that we have the target, since we are going to be one of the big dogs in the AFC. If we can build on the DLine and get someone to anchor that line with Pro-Bowl/Postseason experience, then I don't see how we can be stopped. The changing of the guard has begun, as I see the Bengals dominating the North for years to come.

I think many of us thought the same thing coming into this season also. Who would have expected Green Bay to be so bad and Minnesota get off to a slow start. Houston was 7-9 in 2004 so they looked like an up-and-coming contender also. Baltimore had injuries and Boller is dreadful. On the other hand who would have expected the Bears to be playing so well? Cleveland has certainly improved throughout the season as well, although I am not sure how they lost to Houston.I think alot of it has to do with what some of those teams do at the end of this year. If some of the above don't make the playoffs (SD, Pitt, Atl.) there might be some big changes whether it is coaching or personnel. These things may set them back next year. Also, suddenly the Bengals are looking alot better for a prospective FA that "wants to win now."
derekshank
Actually, when I looked at the schedule, the only games that I was worried about were Indy, Min, and Jax. (although I thought we would only split with Bal). It turned out that I was right about our schedule with the exception of Min at the time we faced them. When I first saw our schedule, I knew we hada chance to havea good season, because we were playing weak divisions. Next year, not so much. Hopefully though we will have the confidence from this season to keep us going. That is usually what it takes. AMC
I noticed that schedule about a month ago but didn't want to say anything until after this year was over BUT...Dang that is a tough schedule! But it is hard to tell one year from the next. MNF/Sunday night 3-4 times.I don't see the NFL snubbing us next year for prime timers... duus
For looking into the future (uh ... deep into the future), the following site shows how the AFC North will matchup in the coming years:AFC North Schedule RotationNeedless to say, it sure looks like 2006 will be difficult for the AFC North. I do like the fact that we don't have to travel to the FAR west coast, and that those teams from California have to come to the Jungle. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, has to make those trips, and teams like Denver and KC (used to snow, etc.) come to Pittsburgh. This surely gives us a bit of an edge going into 2006. bengalboomer7
Don't be so sure about those primetime games. They say they try to match up the best teams, but I think they match up the teams that will make them the most money. Like NYG and NYj, Philly, GB, Oakland, etc.Even the damn Saints got more primetime games than us this year, so I really don't count on us getting one. Small market bulls**t if you ask me. When I first saw this year's sked, I thought we'd go 10-6 or 9-7. Had I known how sucky some of these teams were gonna be, I would have predicted better.I think we should get our fair share of primetime games next year too. People (other than squealer, clown and rat fans) enjoy watching the Bengals. We're very entertaining
membengal
That puts them in Indy next year, assuming we go ahead and win the division. And hosting NE at PBS.
kingwilly
From a viewers perspective, the primetime games would be fun...but for the team and the statistics associtated with MNF, it really screws up the preparation for the next week.Every Sunday is fine with me. I bet they give Cincy a MNF game and maybe a Sunday night one, too.
TecmoFever
I noticed that schedule about a month ago but didn't want to say anything until after this year was over BUT...Dang that is a tough schedule! But it is hard to tell one year from the next. MNF/Sunday night 3-4 times.I don't see the NFL snubbing us next year for prime timers...My thoughts exactly! I was thinking about the rotation, and the fact that winning the division meant playing other division winners. This is new territory for us, you know. What a nasty schedule it is (or at least, it looks like it). After thinking about it, though, I realized that we'll be primed for prime time television. I don't see how we wouldn't get at least three night games next year. What's not to like about us? We are an up-and-coming team that everyone's talking about. We have guys with personality--CJ and Odell, and we have a young stud QB that's a former Heisman winner. Finally, we've played well on primetime the last two years, and have provided entertaining football games in all three. Lastly, with Brett Favre's pending retirement or demise, that should free up about 8 night games next year. He is ALWAYS on MNF, it seems. Freqman
Don't forget that Sunday night games will be flexible next year. There will be an option in the last 7 weeks to change the games.Details on new TV package...
ahanes
That schedule is going to be tough! But I got the Bengals going 12-4 with losses to Indianapolis, Denver, Pittsburgh and San Diego. Still should be good enough to win the AFC North once again and a #2 or #3 seed. I'm saying right now though that the next 3-4 years will be the Bengals' Super Bowl window.

That is usually what it takes.I saw Indy and Jax as trouble too, but I thought we would definitely get Minny in the Jungle. I saw us splitting with Balt and Pitt and maybe dropping the one in KC. Everything has pretty much held up except BaltimoreAs for next year's schedule. Those NFC teams just don't impress me all that much. Also, we have the better of the NFC South teams at home. The trip to Indy will be tough(of course) and Cleveland will be improved. Denver and KC are tough places to win. Oakland will be better. So yeah the 2006 schedule should be tougher, but as always there will probably be some teams that will have bad years and there will be some the other way around. As someone said before if we can shore up the D in some places I don't give a damn who we play. WHO-DEY
cincykent
The Bengals have become one of the NFL's glamore teams like the Colts, Packers, and Falcons. People want to see Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson. I would expect them to get 4 games in primetime between Sunday and Monday night. No doubt the matchups with the Colts and Steelers will be primetime, and maybe the Falcons and Chargers.Hopefully we will get one THIS season in the playoffs at PBS!!!! I think they have done the same thing with a few other teams earlier this year.
Scottishbengal
On the same theme but with a slightly different angle - which Home and which Away match who you choose to see next year?Home: I'd like to see the Raiders come and die and PBS - perhaps I could console Kitared afterwards!Away: It would have to be Denver just sneaking ahead of Kansas. I have a deep passion against the Bronco's stemming from the Elway era and the fact that they would always (yes, ALWAYS) pull out a late win. God I hated him then and I still hate him now (so much so that I could crap in his apple pie!). I can't plan my trip until the dates are released in March/April but thats my leaning at this moment in time. What matches would you other folks choose to see?
