kingwilly
He has one job. Punt.Maybe tomorrow he will be out of a job. I just don't see how many more chances he'll get...
jjakq27
I am concerned about Shayne's kickoff distance too (sorry Bengals Sis). I don't know if that was by design or not. The first onside kick was pretty awsome though.
Stripes
Larson has had his struggles this year, but is still average in the league rankings, last I checked. I'm not worried about it, he has shown flashes of being a solid punter.
bengalindian
The second onside kick wasn't too bad either, but I'm pissed that the first one didnt work out. I wish they had tried it again...a little reverse psychology. However, Larson is inconsistent. Too inconsistent. The Colts' offense is already unbelievable. A punter is supposed to come in and try to give the defense a chance. He's not doing that, and Marvin needs to make some calls this week and atleast bring someone in to put pressure on Larson. Do something.
benglsdrumr
if tab perry wasnt held on the 1st onside kick, would he have recovered it?
HoosierCat
Larson's still the holder for EPs and FGs, right? I definitely would look for a new punter...but not until after the season.

I definitely would look for a new punter...but not until after the season.I'm also hoping they get rid of Olahte or however you spell his name. I can see why he was cut by another team early in the year. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a losing team. What does that tell you about him? He needs to learn how to tackle, and use his head (two of his penalties hurt us also).
kingwilly
Kitna or Krenzel could pick up the holding...heck, the new punter can pick up the holding! keeping him just because he holds isn't enough. I've seen enough 18yrd punts... net 4! basically a turnover considering the filed position, it reminded me of the pre-season.
Whur CHad At?
Larson is a good player. Few Mistakes. He'll deal with it and move on...
San Antonio Bengal
Larson is a good punter. Sure, he's not lights out, but who is really? I'd rather have Larson than a lot of other punters in the league. Just chill.
Whur CHad At?
Guys come on, I mean I disagree with Chuck Breshnahan and you say I hate everything about the Bengals. Now you guys say you want to get rid of Larson, so that makes you all Bengals haters.Come on guys being a punter isn't easy at all. So Until I see any of you out there doing what he is doing I wouldnt say anything.
BengalSIS
He's a good holder and he's a good punter. He's still relatively new in the league. Let him work through it. He isn't killing us and sometimes he lights it up. Patience people patience. And as easily as Shayne seems to adjust to new holders in his career, I personally don't want to see him do it in a season where he is already got a little shift in kicking due to working on KO and injury in preseason. If Larson can't straighten out, then fine, but he's not stinkin up the place. He's had a few shanks. It happens. Hopefully it will happen less and less. bengalboomer7
Hwy SIS, way Shayne sore after that onside kick(BTW, tell him I said two awesome efforts on that ...then get me some free tix Just kiddin)
kingwilly
Being a punter is simply the EASIEST job/position in the NFL.........Assessing or cirticizing any player has nothing to do with what any of us can do or our own physical prowess...I used to be a world class cyclist...which means didly squat! Can I criticize Larson for his repeated shanks? yes. Can i punt a football well over 18 yrds? Hell yes!By your logic we could extend this to our D coordinator. Could you scheme and coach better than Bres? I somehow doubt it. Does that mean you should stop criticizing him as you see fit? Hell No! HairOnFire
That 1st onside kick attempt was freaking brilliant, and unless the opposing team changes how they line up should be standard operating procedure. The odds of gaining possession of a normally defended attempt are so low they can almost be ignored and it was just mind blowing watching that kick roll towards the 20 yard line. BTW, I'm pretty sure the 2nd attempt featured the unlikely wedge busting trio of Walter, Thurman, and Opie. Who would have guessed that Opie would land the best killshot? Bengalbob
A few Kyle Larson stats for you (courtesy of NFL.com):Net Avg. = 35.0 (18th highest in NFL)Fair Catches = 5 (33rd highest in NFL)Inside the 20 = 8 (30th highest in NFL)Touch Backs = 5 (tied for 8th most in NFL)Number of Punts = 39 (tied for 26th most in NFL)You've got to admit he's not wowing anyone . . . Bengals_12th_man
He has consistancy issues... If he doesnt improve on that, look for plently of players to get a look this off season.
The_Next_Big_Thing
A few Kyle Larson stats for you (courtesy of NFL.com):Net Avg. = 35.0 (18th highest in NFL)Fair Catches = 5 (33rd highest in NFL)Inside the 20 = 8 (30th highest in NFL)Touch Backs = 5 (tied for 8th most in NFL)Number of Punts = 39 (tied for 26th most in NFL)You've got to admit he's not wowing anyone . . .Ok, Bengalboob, perhaps you need a lesson in reading these stats. Lets start with....NUMBER OF PUNTS: Only 2 other kickers have fewer punt attempts than Kyle Larson.Gee, could this explain why other punters would have more fair catches, more kicks inside the 20, more touchbacks?Who has the longest punt this year? Kyle Larson at 75 yards. His net average ranks him right in the middle. Yes, he has some consistancy problems, but he is by no means a guy you need to get rid of. He does a great job holding, he's in his second year, so there is time for him to grow into a great punter. He has great potential as a punter, with a big leg. derekshank
Come on guys being a punter isn't easy at all. So Until I see any of you out there doing what he is doing I wouldnt say anything.Simply the worst logic ever. There isn't columnist in the world that could play QB for any team in the NFL... but they are still allowed to criticise Kyle Boller.Criticism is based upon a players performance in comparison with the performance of others in the league. Larson has some leg for sure. He can punt as long as anybody... but he does shank it it important situations way too often.I don't want to cut him... but I would like to see some drastic improvement by next year. ArmyBengal
I'm always one to come to Larson's defense and yes he's had some rough ones up to this point, but I'm still not even close to saying he needs to go. He has a HUGE leg, is only in his second year, and (GET THIS) can be coached up. No one was crying for Madieu's head when he got torched often during the early games as a rookie. He will get coached up and be a force as a punter. Then again, I could be completely full of SH!T... I'm thinking good things for Larson and would be more concerned about how our defense might be able to get an opposing offense off the field at least once in 6 times of being greater than 3rd and 10... Just once and the Indy game was ours for the taking... No one wants a piece of this team in the playoffs !!!WHODEY !!!
