bengalsLB Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 personally i think we shut down james so our O can play controll the clock and keep theres off the field Quote
Stripes Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 I prefer the "both" option myself. If you place too much focus on one, then the other will kill you. The linebackers will have to step up against James, and the secondary will have to play its very best game. Quote
omahacolt Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 if james goes for over a buck twenty five then this game is over Quote
LongSackTheClown Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 You need the both or we're royally screwed option. If you let James get his, you'll lose. If you focus on Edge and let Peyton pick you apart, you'll lose. Shutting down one facet of this offense won't allow you to win. Quote
AMC Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Two things you don't wanna see sunday...James, 25 rushes for 125 yardsAND/ORManning, 26-32It needs to be somewhere in between or we get blown up... Quote
swing4dafences Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 If you think Indy is a one-dimensional offense that can be stopped by focusing on one guy then I feel sorry for your parents. I never could have raised a retarded son. Quote

The_Next_Big_Thing Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Shut down Manning. Why? Because shutting him down means turnovers, and turnovers mean no points for the other guy. Quote
omahacolt Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 i dont think you guys should get your hopes up about manning throwing many picks in the game. the guy is not brett favre Quote

There's a reason our boys have the most INTs in the league. Everyone plays. Quote

derekshank Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Our secondary is good enough to not give up one of Manning's 5 TD days... and he has shown he is more than willing to give the ball to James when defenses are in pass coverages... so I think we need to focus on stopping James.Stopping the run is the weaker part of the defense, so we need to focus on it. Manning will get his yards... but with our CB's, he won't go nuts. This game will be about TOP... and the passing game isn't how you win that stat. Quote

bengalindian Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 I know Peyton is a genius. But I think that if the D is able to disguise themselves into a pass D and make Peyton audible into a run, and somehow bring 8 in the box, that would be the key to stopping both. Confusing Peyton is the key, but that's as hard as (insert something clever here). Quote
HairOnFire Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Confusing Peyton is the key, but that's as hard as (insert something clever here). Yeah, Peyton has a really big brain. Or at the very least he has a huge forehead. That said, he's the guy I'd try to contain. Quote
CUbaseball11 Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Turnovers will decide this game and our best chance is with the INT's. We've relied on 'em all year and there's no reason to turn away from it now just because they have "what's his name at quarterback" (I can't remember) and those 3 guys at wide out. For some reason I can't remember their names either!!! So we have got to shut down James (if possible) and hope they throw 40 times. That definetly sounds crazy, BUT we oughtta come away with a pick or two if he puts it in the air that many times. The DB ball hawks have to come up big for us this weekend. I just pray we can stuff Edge early cause if we don't...we're lookin at him having about a 27-140 day along with peytons 19-27-240 and most of the game clock. But to really be honest, we all know both aspects of the colts are equally important and both are the correct answer. Who knows......I'll let Marvin decide on this one. Quote
LolaMoon Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Peyton is going to take what your defense gives him. It is that simple. If he sees that your defense is not going to allow him to throw deep... he won't throw deep. He will hit Dallas or Brandon up the middle for short yardage. The he will send in Edge to get the first downs. If your defense is completely shutting down the passing game and you are dropping 7-8 like so many other teams have... Edgerrin will get his carries. When your defense starts to pay attention to the running game... which always opens up the passing game. He will take advantage of that. I think what the Bengals have to do is... know that they are going to score their points. They do not care how you play them... they will find a way to score. They play very patient and do not make many mistakes. Your offense will have to keep up, which they are capable of doing. Will their be mistakes? There will be mistakes. There will be penalties. Which team makes the least mistakes and commits the least amount of penalties will win. That is how I see this game going. Both teams should be able to get their points. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 put a both button on there..both are equally dangerous. Quote
Bobcat Bengal Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Manning is gonna get his.Our Run D is still suspect, I feel much better about our Secondary however. Quote

jungleman Posted November 18, 2005 Report Posted November 18, 2005 Manning will throw a pick this game. i think this defense will handle itself enough to win. i think it will be high scoring and there will be alot of points put up on the board but the defense will get a key turnover. Quote
