walzav29
You can throw all of the stats out of the window when it comes to the playoffs. The real question is whether Palmer will be Brady like or a Manning choker. Wouldn't that be horrible if Palmer just chuck 5 int's when it counts? That is what I'm most concerned about. Is he money or not? Time will tell.
AMC
The first time through the playoffs (or the first playoff game) may be shaky but then he will take charge...I don't see him getting rattled easily...he's played all the big teams, there are no surprises.... walshfan
Manning didnt choke all by himself.. He's put up some good numbers in the playoffs aside from NE....the real question is going to be how Palmer handles the cover2 defenses in the red zone against playoff teams.. Its designed to comprerss the playing area .....We'll get a taste of it this Sunday...
turningpoint
I think Palmer will play great, it really depends on what team we are playing.I want his 1st one to be on the road quite honestly, he wont be under the pressure of the home crowd, he'll also have his bugs by the time he does have a home playoff game.Remember opening day vs the jets in 04 expect something like that, but him with experience.Nothing ever rattles the guy either, he won the big games in college. walzav29
It seems like the Bengals prefer long patient drives. I can only think of a handful of plays where Palmer just chucks it 60 yards. Which I think is an advantage for the Bengals. You don't want to be a team that can only have big plays. When they go against the cover 2's they'll need nice long drives.
turningpoint
wel that's pretty much the game plan.Keep the tackles from having to sustain blocks on their elite pash rushers, tell Carson to find the open reciever fast. Carson has great precision on his passes, and he can fit it though the tiniest window, that will be about 10-15 yds down field between the zone cover of the safeites and corners.Carson needs to try to hold Cato june the Lb, he was asafety in college, and is a ball ahwk why he has 5 ints on the season.if he hesitates, i think the middle will be open all day.they wont man Johnson, and double team him, they'll be zone covering him though, which will look like a double team, but it;s what the cotls would do vs any wr.chad runs great routes, and carson throws percision passes, which is the key to exploiting the colts cover 2 defense.find the hole in the zone and fire it in there. They'll max protect on the long ball, and they'll use it when it;s a good opportunity.another good thing they can do is have chad try to get the attention of the corner on his side, and run perry out into the flat where he can make a catch and work the side line for 10-20yds. Stripes
I think answering the question posed by this thread will be impossible until we see it happen. I have no reason to put him in the Brady category for engineering incredible playoff games, and I have no reason to place him with Manning either. He's Carson Palmer, and that's that. Any QB his age might screw up in his first playoff year (look at Big Ben). Let's give him a chance to get his feet wet this year and hope for more next year.
